INTRODUCTION
Motivation is refers to the process of inspiring people for intensifying their willingness
and desire for executing their duties effectively and for co-operating in order to achieve the
common objectives of an organisation (Xu and Peng, 2022). It is a powerful tool for the
managers in order to induce subordinates to act in the desired manner by satisfying their desires
and need. There are several factors that assist managers to motivate their subordinates so, they
perform their task in the organisation in better manner. These are adequate financial incentive,
congenial work environment, provision for promotion, non-monetary facilities, retirement
benefits, security of job, goodwill and possibility of development of the enterprise, recognition of
good work and so on. Motivation is consider as one of the most important factors for
determining organisational efficiency and effectiveness. The present research will conduct to
analyse the role of motivation in enhancing employees' performance and productivity. The
selected organisation for the current research is Next Plc, it is a multinational fashion
organisation of UK that offers home, clothing and footwear products.

According to the view of Gopalan, Cherikh and Balakrishnan (2018) motivation means a
driving force that affects the choice of alternatives in the behaviour of a person. It stimulates,
improves and induces workers leading to the goal-oriented behaviour. Promotion is one of the
important motivating factor that encourage employees work to achieve preset targets for getting
a promotion in the organisation. There are two forms of motivation that are monetary and non-
monetary. Rewards for good performance and increase in the salary are monetary motivation
whereas public appreciation is the non-monetary innovation in the organisation. Motivating
employees is important for the success of the company. Implementing a good employee
motivation techniques in the business encourages employees to work productively and it leads in
better revenue outcomes (Andersson, 2021). When an organisation motivates their employees
with effective rewards and other benefits can help company to grow a good culture of
innovation. A motivated employee is driven, enthusiastic and takes pride in their work. They
complete their tasks more quickly, take action as well as want to a good job for both, themselves
and for the company.

not exert their adequate energy for the accomplishment of a task assigned to them. For making
them willing and dedicated towards their work, motivation is important for every organisation. It
leads increase in their productivity and performance that results better revenue outcomes
(Chanana, 2021). The crucial part of a successful managers is their capacity in order to ensure
full support and cooperation of the workers along with their energy, ability and enthusiasm. It
will also help in motivating employees in order to enhance their employees' productivity and
performance.
