INTRODUCTION
The topic of the research is about the hospitality industry and the role of resorts in the
overall development of the community in regional Victoria. The hotel organization chosen for
this research proposal is RACV Resorts. The problem that has been identified in the report is that
people belonging to different communities have to face discrimination, injustice as well as
inequality (Booth, Colomb and Williams, 2018). A research proposal is a written document that
proposes a particular research project and here, it is being used to summarize the whole report.
The research will be focused on the Role of RACV Resorts in the Community Development of
Regional Victoria. The research is being undertaken because this particular area has not been
studied widely. The research proposal will include a Review of Literature, Research
Methodology and a Conceptual framework.
Background of the Study
The problem that has been identified in the report is that there is no identification of the
categories of people who can get their services and how can the people of the country can sustain
their cost. This is because most of the people have low-income level and thus, belong to the
middle class. Therefore, there is need to solve this problem in order to make sure that no issues
are faced in the future. There are no studies that have been conducted in order to understand the
issue widely. Therefore, this research proposal will be relevant in present context as it will
provide a structured view of the problem along with solutions.
Review of Literature
The key perspectives that are covered in this report are “Role of Resort in The
Community Development of Regional Victoria". The respective resort is one of the most iconic
locations of Australia. The report includes a discussion on the utilization of the local resources
by the respective resort, promotion of tourism within the country as well as helping the local
communities to grow (Carey, 2017). There is also a discussion on the various sustainable
practices that can be adopted by the resort as well as the different community programs that keep
taking place. These community programs help in creating a bon between the local communities
as well as the RACV golf club. It has been found that the respective resort is committed towards
providing its employees with a positive workplace that is supportive of different cultures. The

resort offers employment opportunities to the local communities. This has helped in raising their
overall standard of living. Apart from this, the other perspectives that have been covered in the
report is that the respective resort is working towards building an in-house culture that has
helped them in training the employees so as to serve the community in an effective manner. Even
during the pandemic, the resort is working towards providing the community with all the
necessities (Ege, Bauer and Wagner, 2020). Apart from this, the resort has also reduced the
amount of wastage and now promotes recycling as well as reusing. For this, the resort has
introduced various sustainable and eco-friendly practices into its operations.

The main gap that has been identified in the report is that the researcher has not provided
any identification of the different categories of people who receive the resort’s services and how
the people of the country could sustain their costs. The main focus of the report is to cover this
gap.

Research Methodology
Research Design
Research layout refers to the overall method utilized to perform research that defines a
succinct and logical plan to address established studies question through the collection,
interpretation, analysis, and dialogue of information. There are different types of research
designs such as causal, exploratory etc. The research design for the respective research is
descriptive which aims to describe the population as well as situation in an accurate manner
(Kumar, 2018). This type of research design can be widely used in order to investigate one or
two variables. Descriptive research has been chosen for this report because it aims to find the
characteristics as well as categories of people who get their services from the resort. Main
advantages of the descriptive research methodology include that the researcher can conduct this
research using specific methods such as observational, case study as well as survey method.
Also, this type of research gives a wider understanding of the topic. On the other hand, the cons
of descriptive research include that they cannot test the results of the study statistically and
majority of the descriptive studies are non-repeatable. Lastly, these studies can also reflect a
certain level of bias due to absence of statistical tools.
Sampling
Sampling is a procedure used in statistical evaluation wherein a predetermined range of
observations are taken from a bigger population. The method used to pattern from a larger
population relies upon at the kind of analysis being done, but it can include simple random
sampling or systematic sampling (Liao and et.al., 2017). The sample population of the research
are the guests who visit the resort in order to avail the services. This sampling frame has been
chosen for the respective research because the population will be able to provide appropriate
information that is required for completing the report. For this report, probability sampling will
be used because it is cost effective, involves a lesser amount of judgement as well as can be
performed by even people who do not have technical knowledge. Probability sampling is among
the easier ways of sampling and the sample is the representative of the populations. Simple
random sampling will be used wherein each member of a large population will have an even

chance of being selected. This type of sampling method is reliable and is widely used by
researchers. A important advantage with non-probability sampling is that—as compared to
probability sampling—it is very price- and time-powerful. It is also smooth to use and also can
be used while it is impossible to conduct opportunity sampling. One of the disadvantages of
using simple random sampling is that it is time consuming. Also, there is requirement of time,
money as well as effort. The sample size of the respective research is 50 respondents as this will
help the researcher in conducting the study in an effective manner and obtain accurate results.
Research Instrument
In order to complete this research, quantitative type of data will be needed because it is
easier to analyze statistically. This is also because the quantitative data can be expressed in the
form of numbers, graphs and tables (Malatzky, Cosgrave and Gillespie, 2020). Also, it is easier
to interpret as well as understand by the readers. A questionnaire will be used for data collection
as it is convenient and can be analyzed easily. The researcher can alter the data and define the
respondents as per the requirement of the research. The questionnaire will include both open-
ended as well as close-ended questions and the respondents will have the option of not answering
the questions that they don’t like. The advantages of this will be that the researcher has control
over the process of data collection. The questionnaire will comprise of 7-8 questions that the
respondents will be expected to respond to. It will not take a lot of time for them to fill in the
answers in the questionnaire. Pilot testing will only be done on a limited number of respondents
to obtain accurate and reliable results. Relevant changes will be made after the pilot testing of the
questionnaire to improve the accuracy.
Data Collection
The data will be administered through both face to face as well as via emails. This will
ensure that a greater number of respondents are reached out to by the researcher. The
respondents will fill in answers to the questions in order to help the researcher carry out the
research effectively and carry out data analysis appropriately (Nieto-Ferrando, 2020). The
respondents will be approached through email as well as through phone. 60 questionnaires will
be sent out to the respondents in order to collect information from them. The reason behind this
is that there can be case that the response rate is low. Therefore, the researcher will be able to
conduct the data analysis effectively. the researcher will brief the respondents about the research

before obtaining data from them. This will ensure that the respondents provide as much accurate
answers as possible so that the researcher is able to obtain desired results.
Data Analysis
For the process of data analysis, excel sheet will be used in order to code data. Also, all
of the data which will be gathered, will be sorted and tabulated. This will make it easier for the
researcher to analyze the same. In order to analyze the data, the researcher will use Excel
statistical Program (Peacock, Kerry and Balise, 2017). Once the data is analyzed, it will be
presented graphically as well as statistically. This will provide better results for analysis to the
readers as well as the researcher. As a result, desired outcomes will be obtained that will be
easier to understand.
Ethical Consideration
There are certain key considerations that will be kept in mind while collecting data such
as all of the information relating to the respondents will be kept anonymous. Also, the data which
will be collected will be kept confidential and will not be shared with anyone. In order to get
informed consent, the researcher will brief the respondents regarding the research topic so that
they have clarity about the questions that they will have to answer (Taylor, 2017). Also, to
ensure that the respondents’ data is safe, it will be stored in a laptop. The respondents will be
informed through mail that there is voluntary participation.
Limitations of the Research
 The significance of this research is that it will help in enhancing the overall knowledge of
the readers regarding the hotel industry.
 There were certain limitations that were encountered during the research, such the all of
the aspects could not be covered sufficiently.
 Apart from this, time as well as budget also served as constraints during the research.
There was a lack of holistic approach from the side of the researcher.
 The researcher faced constraints during the sampling process as well. Therefore, these
were some of the limitations of the respective research. The researcher will adopt
appropriate measures in order to overcome such limitations in the future.
 Due to lack of time, the process of data analysis could not be conducted effectively.

Estimated Timeline
The estimated time for the completion of the research will be 12 months. The different
tasks of the research will be allocated different timeframes so as to ensure that the research is
completed on time as well as in an effective manner. the different activities will include data
collection, data analysis, designing research, writing proposal, report writing as well as report
presentation.
Estimated Budget
A price range is an estimation of sales and charges over a targeted destiny period of time
and is generally compiled and re-evaluated on a periodic basis. Budgets can be made for
someone, a collection of people, an enterprise, a central authority, or just about something else
that makes and spends cash. The estimated budget for this research will be £100. The researcher
will try to complete the study within the estimated budget.
