INTRODUCTION
Safeguard refers to a term which means to protect the health of human beings from any
abuse and neglect situation (Allardyce and Yates, 2018). It also includes various human rights
for adults and children's which make them to live their life with safety. Safeguards is not only the
responsibility of an organisation but everyone is responsible for it. Safeguards require that people
and organisation both are working together for reducing negative experience of abuse and
neglect. Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people is related to the health and
development of children's and adults. It ensure that children's are growing in a safe and effective
care and takes effective action so that they can achieve a best outcome. There are various laws &
polices related to protecting children's & adults from maltreatment, exploitation, abuse and other
unfair practices. This report includes various guidelines, policies and legislation for safeguarding
welfare and safety of children and young peoples. It includes different agencies for safeguarding
their growth and development. Other than this it identify symptoms of illness in children's.

1.1 Explain the various current legislation and polices related to welfare and safety of children
and young people.
Safeguarding is a term which is derived from child protection (Boggis, 2018). It includes
various laws related to welfare of children and protecting them from any unfair activity. Their
are various legislation and policies which helps in providing safety and protections to children's
and young people. These legislation are mention below:
Legislation related to children's and young people safeguarding
United nations convention on right of the child (1989) sets different laws related to rights
and freedom of children's in a set of 54 articles. It includes various articles which ensure safety
and development of children's. It's article 19 provide safety to children's from any mental
violence, injury, abuse, exploitation and any physical violence. All those countries which are
singed up with Treaty are legally bound to follow all these legislation and polices related to
safeguarding. Various legislation related to children and young people are mention below:
Children Act 1989- It refers to a act related to safeguarding children's and young people
which states that all parents and professionals are responsible for ensuring safety of their

(Laitinen and Nikupeteri, 2018).

matter. It includes various requirement for forming a integrated series which helps in
providing facility to do work more closely. Another one is including all common
assessments related to requirement and needs of children's. Which helps in providing
safety to children's. It includes database based on information related to safety and
welfare of children's. Other than this it support parents past experience and problems
(Parton, 2019).
Policies related to children's safeguarding-
For providing safety to children's its duty of schools to formulate and implement different
policies which ensure security and safety of children's. These polices must includes points related
to protecting children's and what procedure will be follow for reporting. Its responsibility of all
teachers to effectively follow all these polices. Department of education provide various
guidelines to schools on the basis of this schools formulate their polices. In terms of this various
policies are discuss below:
Working together to safeguarding children- This policy includes guidance related to
safeguarding which set specific duties for all people in organisation. Which provide
guidelines to work together for safeguarding children's and young people against any
abuse.
Procedure of reporting against abused- It provide various guidelines to those people
who are working for promoting children's welfare and safeguarding. They also search for
actions of adult working with their children's (Przeperski and Taylor, 2020).

2.1 Identify different sign and symptoms of illnesses at the time of childhood
In any school their teachers are responsible for work closely with every children and
notice their behaviour. Their are various sign and symptoms which help teachers to understand
illnesses in children's. Sing of illness includes looks pale, children lost their appetite, quite, looks
flushed, appear more tired, dark ring around eye etc. If teacher see any sing of illness than it's
duty of school to inform their parents. Younger people are able to clearly communicate about
how they feel but in case of children's they are not able to communicate their symptoms. In case
of Tonsillitis it's symptoms are, difficulty swallowing, fever, pain in ear and neck. If all these
symptoms are find than school need to inform child parents. Other than this symptoms like Itchy
rash with blister- like appearance and fever that means the child is suffering from chickenpox
and require rest at their home. Children can return to school after five days of onset all rashes
(Rhind and Blair, 2018).

simply washed with clean water. But if a child feeling ill and had a minor injury then school
needs to inform their parents and carer. Information related to accident and incident must be
recorded by school in their record book. If there is any serious accident is happened with child
than its duty of school to report in health and safety executive (Shaw and Greenhow, 2020).
