Risks that are identified-
Workplace injuries are the common thing and shef deals with various risks so it is important to
improve kitchen safety. Risks which is identified is related to burn hazards. This risk is the
undoubted threat in the kitchen. Cooking staff is directly associated with this risk while working
with direct flame, dealing hot pots or pans, hot surfaces etc can cause serious injury if not dealt
carefully. It is very important to provide training to the new joinee so that they get idea about
how to handle kitchen equipments effectively (Rosskam, 2018).
Unsafe work practices in regards of health and safety-
It has been observed that there are few shef who is not wearing shef uniform. Uniform of shef
consists of all safety measures. So it is important to wear. This is also the reason of increasing
workplace accidents as shefs are not wearing kitchen uniform. Health and safety has become the
topic of concern these days, so to make sure the safety of staff along with organisation, staffs
should have also take care off.
Assessment task 2
The emergency situation which has arisen in the classroom is related to fire. When fire have
almost covered the entire building staff have started getting panic and everybody have started
running because everybody wanted to leave building as soon as possible. In order to remove the
staff from this situation fire exit gate has been used. First of all gas and electrical appliance
should turned off. Every worker has been removed from the building in proper manner. Staff is
also advised to be at the safe area and not to enter in the building until advised. In this fire
situation assistance are taken from colleague so that everybody can be removed from the
building safely.
Assessment task 3
Staff meeting is held with all the workers and discussed about the emergency situation which is
related with fire. After this fire incident it has been mandatory to installed fire extinguishers at
every floor of the building. Although there is fire extinguisher in the building but it is only one
so more needed to be installed. This will enable safe working place. In the meeting also
installing additional fire extinguisher has demanded by workers. This emergency situation has

been handled very well as nobody got harmed in that incident. One of the staff also suggested
that fire alarm should also gets installed in the building, so that in the future if such
mishappening occurs than staff get indication and they can save themselves. Work health and
safety practices is becoming important day by day because workers likes to work with only
those companies which ensure workplace safety.

Answer- WorkSafe is state, this act is plays significant role in system fitness and security
legislation in Victoria. It demonstrates principles, responsibility and rules about Occupational

Answer- Employees must catch sufficient care for their personal fitness and security, also take

things that workers have to comply with Occupational Health and Safety needs. Also, assure use
as safely by providing peoples of organization essential information, command, training in order
to do their work in manner that gives security and without issue to fitness. In accordance to
assist and advised workers in maintaining fitness and security tasks. By giving proper training to
employees about companies health and security (Karanikas and et.al, 2021). Giving retention,
recognition for employees who get injured in their workplace. Major contributing in several
factors if anyone gets injured because of some circumstances its roles is to provide safety and
health in relate to participate in OHS programs.
Question 5- What are main responsibility of employees and penalties that apply:
Answer- Duties of employees-
(a) take reasonable care- It defines that catch care for their fitness and security, in order to which
other peoples who can impacted by their section or exclusion at work. In other sense, can say
that workers should not make effort at issue by which they refer as what work they have to do or
not doing that work which is not relevant to it. This binding same wider team that workers need
to be protected. By focusing on their health and safety they get satisfied in workplace.
(b) take care for fitness and security of individuals who can be affected by it from providing
facilities. As they can give them leaves by which they may rest fully and gets satisfied within
workplace in accordance to that. They also do that they give privilege by not cutting their salary
in order to do so employees not bothered about taking leave in organization.
(c) Take care of workers in order to ensure their safety in relates to any misshaping takes
place with peoples in order to give accommodation by which others feel satisfactory that
they get some allowances if sudden changes or issues takes place in organization.
Penalties- When subordinates can be held liable for their own work have to bear penalty in order
to which get fails in come out their responsibilities. Following rules and duties they not follow
leads to occur circumstances for them in which employees determination at anyone companies
gets controlled. Gets absentism of problems in relation to health ans security under OHS
programm.

Hazards Associated risks
Slips Slips and falls can pose fracture risks. By
which employees get affected and leads to
prevent issue impact on their work. Because of
this they will not be able to serve the company
which can be loss for the company (Dzah,
2021). So, company need to take care of these,
they should ensure that floors are proper dry
and clean from which their employee not get
injured.
Machinery accident Machinery hazards may impose cuts on hands
and severe injuries. Through this their several
problems may arise by infecting of their body
leads to occur or develop issue for them. Also,
major problems can arise from which employee
not able to do their work, Company should
have to provide proper acquisition of
machinery in order to which no one get
affected.
Fire hazard It may burn any area or skin of body. This also
can create problems by affecting through fire
may arise issues for them which leads toward
unsatisfying employees in order to which they
are not able to do their work in proper manner.
Company may take precautions in order to
which no one get hurt because of fire and
employees not feel unsafe in same manner.
This also develop effect on their body by
hurting or burn parts.
Falling and lifting objects Lifting injuries like slip disk, back pain, strain
and others. Due to these many issues develop
employees have to suffer in their work due to
occurrence of pain in their back body which

leads towards feeling lazy and not doing their
work effectively in workplace. So, for this
company may have to give proper rest to
employees in order to do so peoples get
satisfied and also provide rest from their
workplace in manner to they felt satisfaction in
their work. Falling and lifting objects hurt or
injured their body and create difficulties in by
developing issues for their task.
Q. 7. evacuation steps while evacuating the kitchen
Emergency steps:
 it is important to have knowledge of the exit route so that in case of emergency an
individual can move out from the building. It is also important to have alternate way
along with exit route. Using elevators should be avoided in emergency situations
(Givehchi, Hemmativaghef and Hoveidi, 2017).
 Also ensure that if co workers or guests in the building need any assistance in order to
get out from the building and also provide them necessary help.
 After getting out from the building make sure that no one is standing at driveways
because people who are coming out from the building need clear roadways.
 If fire is spreading n the building then it is essential to turn off all the equipments like
ovens, mixer, blenders, coffee makers etc. by Turning off the machinery is helpful in
reducing the level of hazards and also ensure safety.

cash: cash must be put inside electronic locker in order to save it from theft or robbery.
Electronic locker is selected because they are password protected and everybody cannot open it
and only those worker will open who knows the password.
Documents: there is no need to keep hard copy of documents. It can be covered in soft copy and
should be saved in system. In this way the possibility of stolen the documents will gets
minimised.

Equipment: equipments in the kitchen which involves mixtures , blenders or any other tools can
be safely stored in cupboard or drawer which is present below the platform. It is essential to
store equipments safely so that they does not break.
Keys: important keys can be stored in locker so that only those workers can use it who have the
authority to do so.

Hazard reporting form- in this form information which must be included are name of the
person, its location, equipments, hazard description etc. hazard must be immediate report to the
supervisor, it can be done verbally or in hazard report form.
Incident notification form- it should be included information like the name of the writer, date
and time of accident, location, details of the situation, incident description, recoding damages
and actions taken to prevent future hazards.
Accident form- it is important to fill the details of the injured person. Along with that is
important to note injured person's last name, contact details DOB, gender and residence address.
Near miss report form- this report should have include information which is related to the
name of the department, building and room number. Further it also includes date and time of
incident. It also describe potential hazards and give safety suggestions (Rae and Provan, 2019).

 As a cook it is very important to learn lifting techniques. Proper lifting technique is
important to learn so that accidents can be avoided.
 Following company safety guidelines or rules. For a cook it is essential that they follow
all the safety rules which is laid down by the company. It is helpful in ensuring double
safety.
 Always keep first aid kid handy. It must be keep near to everyone so that it can be easily
access by anyone. First aid kid is required so that temporary treatment can be given to
the injured person.
 Always keep mobile phone handy so that information can be given to concerned person.
Electronic device which is mobile phone should be always keep near so that in
emergency situation help can be asked with anyone.
