The incident which happened to Geraldine was a mental abuse in which she was already suffering from mental abuse and this
did not helped her in any way. Geraldine had an accident with her boyfriend which made her body immovable and along with
this she drew herself into depression. Helen a support worker was appointed for her wellbeing and to take care of her. One fine
day, Helen took Geraldine in a holistic conference where she met Michael Fullerton. She told Michael about her past and
Michael ensured that he would help her get rid of the problem which is depression and the physical pain which she was suffering
(Mathews and et.al., 2019). But it turned all opposite, Michael instead of helping her out, continuously took money £150 from
her which led Geraldine into more depression. Helen also did not understood that why Geraldine was giving £150 with no
treatment. The people involved in this incident are Geraldine, Helen and a manager which along with Helen had a conversation
with Geraldine. Michael is the main culprit in the case as this is being seen on the effective grounds how he is abusing Geraldine
and not helping her as promised to get her out of depression and physical injuries which she had.
Type of abuse (tick all that apply):
Physical Sexual Psychological/emotional
Financial/material Neglect/omission Discriminatory
Organisational/institutional Self-neglect Domestic abuse/violence

If other, please specify:
Is the victim at risk of further abuse/neglect? (please tick) Yes

(2) What has been done to ensure the immediate safety of the alleged victim(s) and others? Completing and submitting
this form does not constitute management of immediate risks. (Maximum 200 words)
Till now nothing has been done for the immediate safety and precautions for which Geraldine is to taken care of. Me as a
manager along with Helen is going to have a conversation with Geraldine that what problem is she facing and cannot get rid of.
This will solve the problem at some level but for the other problems which Geraldine is facing that is injuries and depression
which is becoming difficult for her to come out from (Krishnan and et.al., 2019). She is from the problem of Michael is
becoming more depressed and through this she is unable to take care of herself and focus on what is important for her health.
Therefore, the main problem which Geraldine is going through can make her weaker and for this she is needed immediate care
and safety so that Michael is not able to trouble her because she is facing mental health problems more and for further safety
risk cannot be taken that it is heard that she is facing physical abuse also. Therefore, it is Helen and me will help her get out of

Yes No
If you think the adult at risk may need support to participate in the safeguarding adults process, please provide details
of what support may be required:
Geraldine would need support from safeguarding adults’ process which will help her in getting out of the abuse which she is
facing from Michael and this will also put stoppage to what Michael is doing with her. When Geraldine will participate in
safeguarding adults’ process she will be able to initiate and put forward the topic that she is being mentally abused by Michael.
Geraldine would be needing support based on psychological health condition which she is facing as she would need a
psychiatrist to cure her mental health condition so that she is able to decide what is to be done on aspect of Michael abusing her
for money (Preston-Shoot, 2017). Geraldine also requires physical support as she is unable to move her body after accident
and she finds difficulty in moving her body. Also she is on wheelchair since the accident happened to her who has made her
body weaker towards any movement and this has made the point clear that Geraldine is facing both mental and physical
problems as she is unable to solve them and she needs support which can be provided easily by safeguarding adults’ process.

(4) What does the adult at risk (or their representative) say that they want to happen as a result of this meeting and as a
result of a safeguarding enquiry (what are the client’s desired outcomes)? (Max words 200)
Geraldine will get help from the manager and Helen as she needs help both on the mental and physical level. The manager and
Helen want that Geraldine gets rid of the Michael’s abuse and that she is able to take care of herself by being on the happy and
healthy life terms. The main aim of Helen as her support worker is that she is making all efforts to get Geraldine rid of the abuse
which she is facing from the Michael (Preston-Shoot, 2017). Also the manager is also concerned and is having an inquiry and
conversation session with her so that she is able to prepare herself and seek positive life ahead. While meeting manager and
Helen, Geraldine should be able to put up her problems and issues which she is facing in front of them so that clear process is
taken place as to how everything is to be sorted on an effective basis and that Geraldine is able to solve her problems in future.
At least then she would be capable of making her own decisions and take care of herself appropriately without facing any
problem. For the concern of safeguarding enquiry, Geraldine is taking step towards having a conversation with how she can get
rid of the problem which she is facing with the Michael.

abuses are identified are also described on large scale. The main thing which is observed is the type of abuse which is described
as -
Mental abuse – Geraldine has faced the mental abuse through Michael in which she was paying him £150 for her fake treatment of
physical injuries and depression. Michael promised Geraldine that he would cure her depression and physical injuries which she
had during the accident and when Geraldine took the sessions of treatment she got to know that Michael was not concerned about
the issue or the problem which Geraldine was facing rather he took advantage of her mental illness and told her to pay him £150 on
daily basis (Finkelhor, 2019). As Geraldine was already in depression she was not able to take care of herself and this process
going on took many of her finance which led her to being more depressed and anxious of how to take the treatment so that she can
get rid of her mental ailment from which she is suffering. Other than this major risk. Mental abuse is the higher abuse in this case in
which Geraldine is facing problem for which all the aspects of knowing and analysing what is to be done is goes and this creates
problem not only for the Geraldine but for her support worker Helen who is trying to heal her and make her get rid of this abuse

which she is facing. Geraldine is facing the major issue in which all the aspects through which thinking capability and the decision
making power is affected and the person is unable to take initiative and decide what is to be done for purpose of how things are to
be taken into accordance and this has made Geraldine feel more exhausted and depression has increased in her mind which is
affecting her whole body both physically and mentally.
Michael is responsible for Geraldine’s depression which has made her review her life in more difficult and critical paths which
is difficult for her now to cure her life but still she is trying to cope up and get out from the depression which is taking her aback and
is helping her nowhere in her growth and development aspect (Read and et.al., 2018). Michael had mentally abused Geraldine
and therefore she is not able to decide what is to be done and what are perspectives of life for solving depression along with taking
care of her physical injuries as well. This is main reason why Geraldine is being affected the most by the fake behaviour and fake
treatment which he promised to her for her to be fully recovered from depression so that her improves and she is able to live her life

Task 2
What category of abuse is placing the person at most risk? Draw on the
evidence in your discussion and to identify what would be the best way to
intervene with this form of abuse (500 words max).
The abuse which Geraldine is facing is mental abuse which is affecting her
health both mental and physically as she is already suffering from physical
injuries as well. Geraldine is facing issues both mentally and physically. An
accident happened with Geraldine which made her body immovable and she
was totally on wheelchair along with this she is also facing depression which
made her affecting her health (Romano and et.al., 2019). The mental abuse
which Geraldine is facing is due to Michael whom she met in a holistic
conference where she was promised that Michael would help her in getting out
of the physical and mental abuse which she is facing and this made Geraldine
felt working towards betterment of her health but on the contrary, situation
worsened. Geraldine would pay Michael £150 but without any treatment. Geraldine
then regularly started paying Michael the amount but without any treatment which reflected
that she was being mentally abused.
This happened with her on high scale and she could not help herself to get rid of this
problem rather her depression increased which made her more anxious for therapy to work
which didn’t at that point. Geraldine was not able to solve this problem and this made her
think more of how to get rid of it. Therefore, Geraldine is at more risk now because her
depressing is increasing due to mental abuse which she is facing through the Michael. And
to overcome the mental abuse which Geraldine is facing, can be overcome by following the
legislations and policies which are being addressed under mental abuse or sections which
are in legal terms and conditions to be followed (Johnson and et.al., 2020). There are
various other ways through which mental abuse can be overcome and this will also help
Geraldine in knowing and herself out of the problem and issue which she is facing.
Geraldine should overcome the mental abuse by standing up for herself, by reaching out to
friends and family, recognizing what are the healthy qualities of a relationship, seek the
guidance from any psychiatrist. National Association of People Abused in Childhood
(NAPAC) is the act which helps in listening to solve the problems of mental abuse which
has been happened to any child. Through this act, there can be strength which can be
provided to Geraldine under which she can communicate and initiate legal stands under law
for her facing of mental abuse by Michael and getting help from the association on effective
terms.
This will give Geraldine strength to cope up with the mental abuse as she will be
getting help on the legal terms and conditions. This will also help Geraldine to live the rest
of life peacefully (McDonald, 2019). The weakness which the process holds is that it will
take time to reach and form the legal conditions for the case in which Geraldine is trapped.
But in eyes of law, the act will take the major concern on how Geraldine is facing this
problem and wants to get rid of it as quickly as she can.

Task 3
Provide your rationale for your assessment of this person’s mental capacity.
What are the implications of your decision for how you would work with the
person at risk (500 words max).
Geraldine’s mental capacity test is to be taken for the purpose of making
her mental health improve which also will help her in boosting confidence and
make her feel motivated throughout the life. Mental capacity of a person is
tested when it is known that the person is unable to take decisions at a
particular time which is due to the mental illness or disability from which they
are affected and this makes the perspective that they should be treated by
providing proper medication and facilities which takes care of their mental
health so that they do not feel abused and recover from such conditions which
affects their mental health (Dmour and et.al., 2019). In this case, Geraldine is

unable to take during her fake treatment with Michael for her depression and
the physical injuries through an accident. Thus, mental capacity test will also
