INTRODUCTION
Vulnerable adults implies for the person who is of the age 18 or above and might be in
the need of care services by reason of mental or physical illness or other disability who is
incapable of taking care of or himself or herself and protection of oneself from a significant harm
or series exploitation. The present report it about the laws, legislation and rules regarding the
protection of the vulnerable adults in UK. Report also depicts provision of vulnerable adults,
managing inter agency and integration in the context of protection as well as monitoring.

1.1 Concept of safeguarding and protection:
Safeguarding: This means to protect the health, welling and human rights off an adult who is at
risk and to enable them for living safely, freely away from abuse and negligence (Moore, 2016).
Protection: This means to make sure that protecting the vulnerable adult for abusing activities
and negligence and providing them necessary aid and care to keep them away from further actual
harm or risk of harm.

1.4 Serious case review and influences on regulations and inspection:
The purpose serves by case review and inquires is to establish the fact that whether there
are lesson to be learnt dorm the circumstances of the case where the agencies and local
professionals worked together for safeguarding vulnerable adults (Lee and et.al., 2017). The case
reviews are used to provide information and improvisation the practices of local inter agencies.

same day (Evidence Review - Adult Safeguarding, 2018). Standard 7 defines the agencies
involved in the circumstance and give procedure for sharing the information. The 8th one
denitrifies the partner agency system and 9th one gives the checklist defining the details for
effective procedure.

Along with this the department of health have published a series of safeguarding guidelines
under the name of Safeguarding Adults: the role of health services. Further, service provision can
also be promoted, in the context of vulnerable people, through the means of classroom activities,
training activity etc. This in turn develop awareness among vulnerable people regarding service
provisions and encourage them in relation to sharing ideas freely.
2.2 Providing information on others:
a. Types and indicators of abuse:
Physical abuse- hitting, slapping, pushing assault.
Mental abuse- emotional, verbal abuse, humiliation.
Financial abuse- misuse of funds, theft, fraud.
Discriminatory abuse- discrimination on the basis sex, gender, language, race, religion,
culture.
Measures:
Measures that can be taken to avoid the abuse include encouragement of cultural values
to combat the abuse (Abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults, 2018). Authorities can take
necessary steps in case of any kind of abuse such as providing training to staff for protection of
all kind of abuse. Introduction of vigilances policies concerning the possibility of abuse of
service users and avoiding the situation which make them vulnerable.
b. Steps needed to be taken:
This situation of the abuses can be mitigated by identifying the such issues on time with
by encouraging an open and trusting communication structure within the care centre among all
the service user, staff and professional service providers. The staff will be encouraged that must
abide with all the legislative requirements, policies and standards.
2.3 Identification of policy and procedure in own work setting:
The policy and procedure is determined as reporting of any suspicion or allegation
within 1 hour and record the same (Safeguarding and quality in commissioning care homes,

2018). A strategy of safeguarding adult must be discussed with a time of 5 hours. For
safeguarding adults and vulnerable people focus needs to placed on following Mental Capacity
(2005) and Vulnerable Group Act (2006). By complying with such laws and legislation safety
can be ensured to vulnerable adults under work settings.
2.4 Monitoring the implementation of policies and procedures:
This is of key importance to monitors and record systems in place for ensuing the policy
and procedural aspects are effective (Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, 2018). With regular

4.3 Challenges:

procedures, aspects of care policies, not taking consent before initiate of care of support service.
Also, it includes lack of knowledge and training, overload of duties etc.
4.4 Recommendation:
Establishment of the lessons to be learned from the cases on for determination of the
ways in which agencies and professional can work together for effectively protection of
venereal adults.
Improvisation in the integrated workings for betterment in safeguard and make sure that
unwanted circumstances do not get repeated.

From the above report it can be concluded that the vulnerable adults are always at risk of
harm and abuse, for prevention of the same the legislation and polices have been formulated to
safeguard the vulnerable adults. The manager in the care sectors along with the local authority
and agency carry out this works of protection with prescribed legislations to safeguard the
