When Mackenzie got into fight with the neighbor to though that he had stolen his parcel. That state literally could
be harmful for the alleged victim (Neighbor) and Mackenzie because both were arguing to each other without
knowing the reason. So, it could become usual that neighbor and Mackenzie could physically abuse to each other
than situation could be out of control. Police and ambulance could be involved as well to take the case in their
control. Bu nothing happens like that because Mackenzie did not loss his mental capacity while fighting to the
person that is the result of safeguard enquiry. There is another case that also evident success of safeguard enquiry
such as when Mackenzie shares his feeling to the miss Ellie (support workers) that he wants to work out with the
Karen but he was worrying about that Karen could take advantage of him. It denotes that he has trust issue as well.
It has proven from the statement that he has mental capacity that’s why he was thinking about Karen and
consequences which could take place after coming in relation again (Jane, 2020). But if Mackenzie again come
with her GF then he could be abused financially and neglect as well that would bring depression in his mind and
make lonely that could impact on his mental state. But Miss Ellie supports him to understand his behaviour and
helps in him in taking right decision that’s result of safeguarding enquiry.

Task 2
Category of abuse that place Mackenzie at most risk
Physical abuse and negate category are one of the most prevalent factors that places a
person at most risk because in that state person starts to feel loneliness and makes him socially
isolated. For example, if a person is physically abused by others that harm him and gives
negative impact on his mental health. In the Mackenzie case scenario, Mackenzie was diagnosed
with paranoid schizophrenia disorder from three years. This mental disorder brough delusion
behaviour in him due to this his parents were unable to cope with his behaviour and found
incredibly distressed and worried for the own safety. It denotes that he was neglected by his
parents which made him alone. So, he moved and lives in 25A Coldham Street, Bexley. Physical
abuse had taken place in that period when in morning he noticed that his parcel was taking by
neighbour, at that state he thought that his neighbour had stolen his parcel, so he got into a fight
with neighbour. This situation could be taken of physical abuse but support worker Ellie took in
control overall situation. According to Jane, (2018), there are several factors that considers
reason for the abuse such as lack of mental capacity, low self-esteem, social isolation etc. While
in the case study of Mackenzie, he was diagnosing from paranoid schizophrenia and was taking
medication to maintain his delusion behaviour. It was the major reason for the abuse. Another is
that he became socially isolated because his parents were always worried for their safety due to
his delusion behavior which made him alone and depressed. But when he met with a girl who
was friend of Ellie then come in relation but they often quarrel to each other for the money
because his GF Karen was always lacking behind shortage of money. So, he used to help her but
once he asked for the money to Karen then she got angry on him. But when Mackenzie told to
Karl who was psychiatrist of him and provides mental health treatment, that he is lonely and
wants to work with Karen but he was worrying about this Karen may take commercial advantage
from him. It denotes that he has trust issues as well. These are the risk factors that could be
reason of abuse (Firmin, 2017). But Mackenzie was not responsible for all situations because he
was suffering from mental illness and lacking behind family support so he is at risk of abuse.

These supports protect suspected adults from any type of abuse and neglect so that they cannot
harm others. This form helps to safeguard adults from others and makes them understand not to
harm others. Mackenzie case scenario, he does not have a such like person who can understand
him and can cope up with his delusion behaviour. In this situation, Ellie (Support worker) and
Karl (Psychiatrist) supports him to understand his feelings and helps him time to time whenever
he needs like when his parents were worrying about their health then Karl made them understand
to support him and treat him calmly. Even Mackenzie’s GF scenario, she communicated with
him in friendly manner in order to maintain his mental state. While Ellie was the support workers
who was offering her services under the Adult social care because he was suffering from mental
illness. So, there were different situations that can be taken place of abuse but she supported
suspected victims to not interfere with Mackenzie.
Task 3
Provide rationale for the assessment of this Mackenzie’ s mental capacity
Mental capacity test is properly based on two stages test of capacity such as first when the person
has impairment of their brain or mind, it can result of an illness or external factor i.e. alcohols or
drug abuse. Second test is based on the person’s decision-making ability like a person is enable
to make specific decision when they need or not. Thus, these tests help individual to determine
their mental capacity. However, UK’s government has imposed Mental Capacity Act (MCA) that
is proposed to protect and empowers people who are lacking behind mental capacity and unable
to make own decisions at personal level about their care and treatment (Firmin and et.al., 2019).
In this act involves those people who does not have ability to take decisions for day to day things
i.e. what to wear or life changing decisions I.e. whether to move or care home or haver major
surgery. According to Mental Capacity Act (MCA) 2005 guidelines, never treat a person as they
are lacking behind the capacity in the context of taking decision because they make an unwise
decision. If a care provider provides caring services to the person who lacks capacity then they
must have least restrictive of their freedom and basic rights. This is another guideline of MCA
act. However, MCA says that a person is unable to take decision if they cannot understand
information that is relevant to the decision. It also allows people to appoint a person to take

to support him and treat him calmly.
It also allows people to appoint a person to take
1
decision on the behalf of person who have lack capacity in the future. Under the Mental Capacity
Act, healthcare organizations cover wide variety of healthcare staff i.e. doctors, social care staff
i.e. support workers.
On the basis of above discussion over the Mental Capacity Act 2005, it can be analysed
that if a person does not have ability to take own decision that means they are lacking behind
mental capacity. But in the case of Mackenzie, he has ability to take own decisions and he has
mental capacity to take right decision on immediate situation. For example, when Mackenzie met
with new friends at local pub and bought some drinks but when he found unable to buy more
drinks then they were mocking of him. In that state, Mackenzie could scream on them or can
abuse them but he did not do anything like this which could make him shameful or proves him
mentally ill in front of them. He just got angry on them and become uncomforted. With this
scenario, it can be analysed that Mackenzie has capacity to take own decisions. However, Mental
Capacity Act 2005 says that care providers should take care of the person but have less
restrictive on their freedom. It would get positive impact on me while working with the person.
With the support of MCA 2005 guidelines, Care Manager would enable to understand mental
capacity of the Mackenzie like he is enable to take own decisions or not. Apart from this, Care
Manager could give him proper freedom while providing care services. Care Manager would
treat the person like normal person and try to indulge in his functions so that Care Manager could
keep an eye on him. Such monitoring would support me to protect Mackenzie from any type of
abuse. Thus, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 would give positive impact my working with the
person (Heaven Taylor, Davies and Morgan, 2020).
Task 4
Apply Making Safeguarding Personal with Mackenzie at risk
Making Safeguarding Personal (MSP) is a type of approach that has goal to develop an
outcome that focus to safeguarding work and a range of responses in order to support number of
people or resolve their consequences. This tool measures effectiveness and enhances
safeguarding practices which are also available. It helps to develop a safeguard culture for the
adults that focuses on the customized or personalized outcomes that are desired by people with
care and support who may abuse by others. This MSP involves number of agencies who provides

adults that focuses on the customized or personalized outcomes that are desired by people with
care and support who may abuse by others. This MSP involves number of agencies who provides

different type of care and protection to the adult. Making Safeguarding personal (MSP) is
designed for those people who are at high risk of abusing. To prepare MSP involves various
steps such as a broaden participation strategy, creates sources like that information can be
accessible and supports participation of people in safeguarding support. In this report, agencies
mainly focus on qualitative reporting on outcomes and quantitative measures. It also involves
personal cantered approaches in order to work with risk. Policies and procedures etc. are aligned
with a personalized safeguarding approach to ensure the person none going to misbehave with
them while providing care and safeguard services. Some training session also conducts for the
practitioners so that they learn new skills and improves existing one and become enable to work
with the person in such way like they can shift their culture accordingly person’s behaviour.
Care Manager would use this MSP while working with the Mackenzie such as Care Manager
could develop such culture environment for Mackenzie so that he could engage with his work
instead of focusing other people through which he would never feel loneliness. Care Manager
could use communication skills to make him feel comfortable and try to build good relation with
him as a friend so that he could share his feeling to me with the trust. Manager would follow all
safeguard policy and procedures under the safeguarding guideline and protects him from the
abuse. Mental Capacity assessment and being person-cantered are the two approaches that are
used to detect risk with the person (Vaughn and et.al., 2020). For example, person-cantered care
approach is organized for those people who needs support of a person with them for taking any
decisions and sharing information. While mental capacity assessment approach is used to analyse
mental capacity of the person while taking decision and responses of them during critical
circumstances. Thus, two different approaches have common goal to protect the person and
provides them care and support time to time but processes are different from each other. In the
Making Safeguarding Practice (MSP) would involve these two approaches as well i.e. mental
capacity assessment and person-centered through which manager could offer better care and
safety to the person effectively.
