MAIN BODY
TASK 1
Concept of safeguarding and protection.
The concept of safeguarding generally means that it is particularly an action which is
taken to promote the welfare of the children as well as can protect the children or adults from
any injury or harm. In this, the safeguarding specifically involves in the protection of the
children from such specific types of abuse as well as the maltreatment. Preventing the health
or development of the children from any harm. It can also involve in ensuring about the
children growing up with the provision of effective as well as safe care. It is generally a
protection of the health, its well-being as well as the rights of the susceptible peoples. It
involves a basic aim which is about protecting an individual from the specific harm. In this,
the harm can come from many or several sources containing the other vulnerable individuals,
their careers, the family members, or even the people themselves also. Training in this is
quite imperative for the workers as it can specifically aid the people to understand about what
they require to do as well as what they required to look out for. In this, an adult is usually
defined as someone who is particularly aged 18 and above this. In this, some people are may
be categorised as a vulnerable adult if they can effectively involve the disability in learning, if
they contain a long-term disorder. Some of the people can also categorised as a vulnerable
adult if they elderly as well as frail, if the adults have the addiction of drinking and smoking
as well, if the adults have some mental well-being needs such as schizophrenia, dementia and
so on. With context with safeguarding of the vulnerable adults, it is quite important that an
individual can enable the vulnerable adults as much the control as well as an autonomy on
their own lives as much as possible. in this, under the Mental Capacity Act, there is a process
which is specifically required to be followed to analyse whether an adult is much more
capable of making the choices for themselves (Brazier and Cave, 2020).
In addition to this, only if this process has been followed and it has been decided that
they are quite unfit to choose for themselves can any decision about the care which is being

made without the consent of an individual. The safeguarding a vulnerable adult simply means
that making sure about the lives which are particularly free from any abuse or a neglect. It
can also involve the helping or supporting the people to make the decisions about their lives
as well as the care and can effectively create a risk-free environment. In this, a child is
generally categorised as being under the age of 18 or above. The safeguarding of the children
is generally all about the protection of the children or the adults from exploitation or abuse. It
can also involve about making sure that the children are growing up with the right care,
avoiding the things from preventing their development or improvement and the health. In
this, it can also involve the actions which are taken when an individual can believe that these
things could be or are already happening. The safeguarding of the children can specifically
concentrate on the protection of the children which are generally identified as suffering or
more likely to face an injury or harm. In this, every people regardless of their age, religions,
an age or the ethnicity generally has the rights to live their lives freer from fear, the neglect as
well as abuse. When working in the education or the care, it is specifically important towards
the protection of the rights as well as safety of the people. In this, if the workers do not
undertake the specific trainings, they can expose the vulnerable adults as well as the children
towards abuse and neglect. Sometimes it can also involve the warning signs which
particularly can be missed or it can be low level safeguarding that can contains an outcome
such as deprivation of the liberty, neglecting as well as the abuse can escalating to the
extreme results such as a serious injury or it can be even death of an individual. It can also
result in the children as well as the adults that are not being treated fairly by those who are
generally care for them. It can also include the loss of dignity. The trainings in the
safeguarding can generally give an individual with abundant knowledge about how to protect
the children as well as the vulnerable adults from any injury instead of unknowingly avoiding
the signs of being neglected or any harm (Brown and McCann, 2018).
Legislation framework for safeguarding vulnerable people in social and health care.
In this, there are various key pieces of legislations which can aid the people in relation
to safeguarding in health and social care. In this, The Care Act 2014, it is particularly the
main piece of legislation. When it comes to safeguarding of vulnerable adults, The Care Act
2014 is considered. It specifically sets out a full framework about how every people are
involved in safeguarding as well as can protect the people or children from any neglect or
abuse, or it can be harm. Another legislation which are being involved in safeguarding can
involves such as The Children Act 1989, The Children and Social Work Act 2017, and the
safeguarding Vulnerable Group Act 2006. In the social and health care, the safeguarding is
generally being a legal obligation for every organization, whether it can be public or it can be
private. There are various pieces of the policies or legislations which will guide this, in
addition with several standards, the processes as well as precedents which are specifically
sets by the local authorities. When it comes to the social and health care, there are major
legislations which the workers will required to be aware of and these such are as detailed
below:
The Children and Social Work Act 2017: In this, this particular Act can build on many
of the principles of the Children Act, enhancing the provision for care leavers, providing the
clinical commissioning groups which are involve more responsibility, protecting the whistle-
blowers as well as generally ensuring that every child safeguarding practices work as well as
are being followed (Loibl, 2017).
