This case study examines the safeguarding needs of Mr. Greg Atkins, a 65-year-old widower with health and financial challenges. INTRODUCTION
Safeguarding refers to the means of protecting individual wellbeing, health along with
human rights. This is effective and allow individual to get better interaction with others and
enable them to get better support and care for their improved health. This can be effective and
allow young individual to get better care and support that enable them for improving their health.
As a social care worker, there is need to provide better safeguarding to every individual and their
client. This can be effective and allow to get better care and support to enhance their health
requirement. In this essay, there is discussion about the safeguarding vulnerable people. In this,
there is a case study about the Mr. Atkins who is old adult who needs proper care and
safeguarding which can reflect about the needs which requires for better support for improved
health. There is also discussion about the main safeguarding concerns and risk which can be
identify the professional role and includes different legislation, policy and other professional and
safeguarding practices (Finnegan, (2019)).
MAIN BODY
This case study is about Mr. Greg Atkins who is 65 years old widow. Have the history to
work in local public transport and redundant due to reorganisation of company. He has smoked
Marijuana for many years and refused to stop it by giving argument which includes the
information regarding medicinal benefits and part of his religion. He is not even economically
strong and needed to pay about £150,000 to mortgage lender. He also need to pay for the water
company and debt collection agency otherwise they can take legal action against him. He is old
not able to take care of himself. He also need some support in his care that can allow to life better
quality life with some support. He is not good in health and needed some social worker help to
get support in working with better effect. He doesn’t have many friends and also no one is in the
family who can care about her. This can be effective and allow to get better interaction with
others. He needs better care and support that can help Mr. Atkin to live effectively with better
effect. In this, there is risk of health and life which cause due to getting older and not able to help
himself and there is overwhelming scent of tobacco and marijuana which cause negative impact
on his health and risk of getting worsening of health (Neumann-Podczaska & et. al., (2020)).
Chosen role is social worker who have the responsibility to perform better and effective care
services to individual to improve their quality of life and improvement in their health. In this, as

a social care worker, there is need to ensure about the delivery of care services and support to
adult or vulnerable people about the statutory obligation that can safeguard and promote adult
health. In this, they need to perform different function which can be effective and allow to get
better action that should be taken in consideration to promote better and quality health. Here, as a
social care worker, it is needed to deliver care and support to Mr. Atkins who need some support
to get better and improved lifestyle. There is also need to take care of the daily activity and to
maintain the cleanliness which can be effective and allow to get better delivery of care for the
Mr. Atkins. As a social worker for Mr. Atkins, there is need to take care about his every activity
which can have impact on his life (Alford & et. al., (2019)). There is also need to ensure about
drug abuse which includes the marijuana. There is also need to ensure that Mr. Atkins should not
exposed to any activity which can impact negatively. There is also need to ensure about build
better and effective relationship with Mr. Atkins for better interaction and to deliver quality care
without getting and exclusion. There is also need to ensure about the activity planning of patient
which ensure about individual safeguarding. In this process, there is need to ensure about the
ethical concern which can be effective and allow to get better interaction with client. In this,
there is need to provide person centred approach which can be more effective for Mr. Atkins
which can allow to get better understanding about the need of care. Through applying the person
centred care or to making admission in care home can be effective (El Missiry & et. al., (2019)).
As Mr. Atkins like to sell his house, there is need to ensure about it and should take him to care
home with Mr. Atkins consent. This can be helpful and effective to take care about his improved
health. In this, Mr. Atkins can get better understanding about the health needs. There is need to
ensure that there should be use of code of conduct that can allow to get better interaction with
client and allow to provide better care and support for his improved health and wellbeing. There
is need to ensure about the developing and publishing strategic plan setting that can meet the
objective which can impact individual to get better service and care that can contribute in the
effectiveness of individual health and allow to get better helping in performing different activity.
There are various legislation and policy which can include different benefits that can lead to
create high impact on the individual for getting better service and support for better care and
health. These legislation and policy includes the Care Act 2014, making safeguarding Personal
Guide 2014 and confidentiality which have high impact on the delivery of care and support to the
Mr. Atkins. Through using the Care Act 2014, there is local safeguarding arrangement along

with process in place (Dominelli, (2021)). Care Act 2014 set of legal framework which includes
different local authorities which are includes the parts of system and should ensure about
protecting adults who are at risk and ensure about the neglect. In this, there are different duties of
safeguarding to the social worker which includes different activity and roles and responsibilities.
This is the one through which it allows to get ensure about the individual that people who are at
risk should get better and effective care and support which can allow to get positive impact on
their health. This legislation is relevant with the case study because through using this care act
social worker is able to take care about the Mr. Atkins which can be more effective and allow to
get better interaction for his health improvement and should ensure about his safety and risk of
neglect. In this, there is need to ensure about the family member whom they should talk about
but due to living along, as a social worker, there is need to ensure that care services are provided
more effectively and should ensure about the better health that can allow through meeting with
other serviced providers whom should be contacted for better improvement in Mr. Atkins health.
Making safeguarding personal guide 2014 is a policy which can provide help to social worker or
healthcare team to ensure about the amend in the safeguarding protocols and the related practices
(Parton, (2017)). In this, there is need to ensure about the various legislation and policy which
can be effective and allow to get better about Mr. Atkins (Agrawal, (2017)). This is the one
which is related with different function while providing the safeguarding to the individual which
can help to attain better and improved health. This allow individual to get better and effective
method to take care and delivery quality services. This is related with Mr. Atkins where this
policy can help to get better guidance to follow the instruction for proper deliver of care and also
help to ensure about the level of intervention that can include the delivery of care and services. In
this, they can have related with the effective care services. In this, through consulting with other
agencies can provide better help and support to the individual which can allow to get better help
and improved the Mr. Atkins health. In this, there is need to make some meeting with the social
worker and other specific organisation which can allow to get better delivery of care services and
support for better outcomes (Gray, (2018)). Confidentiality is the effective policy which can help
individual to get better care and ensure about the safety through not getting shared about their
personal information with other. This is the effective policy that allow individual to ensure that
there should not be sharing of information about any individual with others. This can allow to get
better interaction with others. In this care worker and other organisation should ensure that

information about Mr. Atkins should not be shared with any other individual which can impact
other health. There is need to ensure that person information of individual should not be shared
with any other individual or other parties rather any healthcare professional who are involved
patient health. This is effective and should be linked with the Mr. Atkins case in which sharing
information about him with other agencies shouldn’t not be good idea and needed to care about it
more effectively. As a social worker, there is need to ensure about the better health and take care
about the better health. This can be effective in safeguarding the individual and allow to get
better care regarding individual health. In this, there is need to arrange meeting with the
healthcare professional and the agencies who are involved in provide care services and should
also involve the social worker which can be effective and allow to get better and effective
response (McNeill, (2017)).
CSPR are conducted by Local Safeguarding Children Partnership which can includes the
different in getting better and effective safety for the patient for its better health. Safeguarding
vulnerable Groups Act 2006 is effective for providing better safety and avoiding the harm to the
individual for attaining better health. This can allow to deemed unsuitable to work for getting
health and safety.
Care Act 2014 is a piece of legislation which can be effective to introduce within the care
services for proper delivery of care and support to vulnerable person within case study. This is
the law which interact that adult social care should be provided to Mr. Atkins. For this, there is
need of local authorities that can ensure the people who live in that area. Through this legislation,
as a social worker there is need to ensure about the services which can prevent care needs and
can have negative impact due to delay in delivery of care and support. It also allows to get
information along with advice which can enable for getting good decision regarding care and
support. Through this act, it can ensure that Mr. Atkins is getting proper care and support that
allow social worker to take care regarding proper care services and support. In this, there is need
for some set of local authority who can involve in better delivery of care and support to Mr.
Atkins. This may include safeguarding adults, providing information and advice, planning care
and support along with reviewing those plans (Morganti, (2020)).
CONCLUSION
From above discussion, it can be concluding that there is high need for safeguarding to
adults which can be effective and allow to get better response for the better outcomes. This can

also allow to provide better care and support to the vulnerable adults at risk or neglect. In this
essay, there is discussion about the case study where safeguarding is needed to provide better
