The name of the online business is Optus, and their online chat functionality is available at
https://www.optus.com.au/notices/service-chat. The chat between an Optus agent and I was
about a phone purchase.
Explain the questions that were asked throughout your chat to understand which product
would suit your plans and discuss what more could have been asked.
Do you have a phone now and what make is it? This question was intended to identify the
current model of the phone I am using. The question is important as some customers only
identify with certain types of products or only buy products that are made by specific
manufacturers.
What purpose do you intend to use with your new phone? It is obvious that the purpose of a
phone is communication. Nonetheless, some people need a phone that has the best camera
quality as their specific use is for taking photos.
What kind of phone do you have in mind? This question is intended to give the sale’s agent an
idea of how much information the buyer has on what they need to purchase. At this point, I gave
a vague description of the phone that I intended to buy.
Do you have any specific features of the phone that you want? Maybe the size of memory, the
type of camera or even the colour you prefer. This question was intended to get the specific
phone features that were important to me. For instance, I needed a phone that has both front and
rear cameras (13MP), 2GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, 5’6 inches and latest Android version
among other features.
What more could have been asked?
