INTRODUCTION Personal development refers through the process which has been undertaken by an individual for their development of skills (Batih and Sorapipatana, 2016). It is essential for an individual to involve in a process of their personal as well as professional skills development as it will help them to achieve their goals and objectives for their career. In order to develop an individual it is required that they've design a personal and professional development plan for them so that they can identify the time period they will take to develop themselves. Development plan is a lengthy process and required proper goal for an individual that they want to achieve in their life. In order to set a goal it is essential for an individual to understand the value of three type of goals that are short term goals long term goals and medium term goal. This report is going to explain about the development of a personal and professional development plan and it’s important in the life of an individual. In order to prepare this planet is required for an individual to develop their long-term goal which will help them to bifurcate them in short term goals and medium term goals to achieve their long-term goal in easy manner. This process will help them to achieve their career goals and growth. This report also contains example of all these goals in order to achieve the growth of personal and professional career of an individual. MAIN BODY The concept of personal and professional development Personal development nonstop or constant process which requires an individual to analyze their qualities and skills which are required for them to achieve their desired goals. On the basis of the evaluation of skills required to achieve the goal the individual then required to analyze the skills they are already expertise in so that taken for their work to develop their other skills required for that goal so thatthey can personally developthemselvesto achievethisgoal. Whereas professional development is a process which include achievement of professional skills so that an individual can be able to give their best in their professional career. In order to identify the difference between personal developments of professional development is that the personal development is a continuous process and is carried by an individual for their only development. But in case of professional development generally this process is carried out by organization for their employees so that they can develop their professional skills and provide their best skills for the productivity of the organization (Cooper, and Sommer, 2016). Development of professional
skills also helps an organization to motivate their employees as it helps the employees to fulfill their self-actualization needs from an organization. No matter and individual wants to develop their personal skills or professional skills they are required to prepare a proper and appropriate plan which will help them to analyze the actions they need to take for their development. But before developing a personal as well as professional development plan individual is required to understand the concept of goals to be set by them. In order to set goals for life of an individual they are required to formulate three types of goals that are short term goal and long term goal as well as medium term goals. All the three goals have their own value and have their importance in their development plan. The meaning and value of all these type of goals in development plan by provided below: Value of short-term goals identifying 3 personal short term goals Short term goals are the goals which are fixed by an individual for a shorter period of time. This type of goals are generally are formulated for a time period of three to five months. When an individual decide their long-term goals it is essential for them to diversify them in a smaller parts so that they can be achieved in successful manner. Short term goals are very essential for individual to keep themselves motivated and confident for their life so that they can be ready to face various challenges of life as well as workplace. When an individual achieve their short-term goal then they are motivated to try another goal and became ready to accept another challenge of their life. This is step by step process helps an individual to gain several skills and achieve success and growth in their career (Sanghi, 2016). If short term goals of an individual are lacking then it also develop lack of clear vision for them in order to achieve their long-term goals for their career. Three examples of short term goals are given below: Able to be speak in front of large Audience Time Management and proactivity skills Enhance written Communication Value of Medium-term goals identifying 3 personal Medium-term goals Medium term goals are the bones which are formulated by an individual for longer than a short term goal but shorter than a long term goal. This type of goals are generally formulated for a time period of five months to one year. In order to achieve long term goal and individual first we
divide their goals in in a shorter period of time that are medium term goals then these medium term goals are divided in short term goals. A survey provide that every individual have their own medium-term goals but this type of goals does not get much attention as compared to short term as well as long term goals (Starks, 2018). Medium term goals are not of a great value to an individual as they have a large focus of their development plan on their short as well as long term goals. But as still they have their medium term goals it is essential to understand the concept of medium term goals and its importance in their life. This can be understand with the help of examples of medium term goals of an individual. Several examples of medium term goals are given below: Gaining experience to became a manager Enhance communication skills Completing the foundation course of Business Management Value of long-term goals along with 3 personal long-term goals Long term goals are generally those goals of an individual which they said they want to be in their life. Long term goals are generally set by an individual for one year or more than it as it requires a lot of time to achieve a long-term goal (Stawasz, 2021). As long term goals are set for a longer period of time it is essential for an individual to set these goals with a proper care because it affects their career. It is the long-term goals on which career of an individual depends. It is essential for an individual to consider their skills which are already present in them before formulating their long-term goals as this will help them to choose their career according to their interest. These long term goals are also essential for the individual because they are the basis for the medium term as well as short term goals and can affect whole life of that individual. There are several examples which help to understand the concept of long term goals in better manner. A personal development plan is very essential for an individual as it helps them to analyze their strengths and weaknesses so that they can guide themselves regarding their existing skills and capabilities and will be able to set an effective goals for their life. In order to plan the skills it is essential for an individual to make a real assessment of all the areas. Learning is a continuous process and required to be developed by every individual and in order to learn something new related to their goals it is essential for an individual to develop their skills which has been provided by the personal development plan. A personal development plan contains the skills which are to be developed by an individual with a proper development plan which has been considered by the individual in order to achieve that skills in their life. Further the development plan contain that time period up to which the individual will be able to attain that skills. The target date provided in the personal development plan helps an individual to identify that either the skill is long term short term or medium term. Personal development plan is very important for the individual in order to enhance their capability and skills (Zawieska,and Pieriegud,2018). From the below mentioned personal development plan analyze that by conducting personal development plan and become capable to enhance my time management is this my management is skill and communication skills in order to get more opportunities for my future so that I can become more successful. Personal development plan has several benefits and it support me too improve my skills and overcome my weaknesses so that I can become more confident in order to overcome the barriers which are facing by meet and complete the task in an appropriate time period in order to achieve my goals and objectives which are decided by me. From the above-mentioned data there is explanation with regarding my goals that is short term long term and medium term goals so it is very important for me to enhance my time management skills in order to achieve my goals on a particular time period so that I can become capable to get more opportunities and success. Communication skill support me to build relationship with my subordinates so that I can take proper assistance from us in order to take feedback in order to improve my knowledge and take further steps to improve my capabilities. By conducting person development plan and become capable to boost my confidence and represent myself in front of everyone. Along with I am also
become capable to take effective decisions in order to overcome the barriers and enhance my efficiency for my future development(Κασιώλας2020). CONCLUSION The above discussion helps to conclude that short term medium term and long term goals are very essential for life of an individual in order to acquire success. Short term goals set goals for the smaller period of time for an individual so that they can be motivated for their further growth. Medium term goals help an individual to break their long-term goals in smaller parts whereas long-term goals helps an individual to achieve success in their life. All types of goals short term long term and medium term formulated by an individual helps them to develop their personal as well as professional development plan. It is because of personal and professional development plan contain various skills which are required to be developed by an individual with various processes and the time period of to which the individual will be able to achieve those skills.
