Samuel Adams has been regarded as the founding father as well as the member of the
Continental Congress and the Signer of the Declaration of Independence. It is worth mentioning
that, from the beginning, after the end of the revolution, Samuel Adams has served four items as
the Governor of Massachusetts. In this regard, mention can be made about his interests that
included politics because he was deeply tilted towards it. It is evident that there was an objective
of becoming the head of the revolutionary agitation. It is worthwhile to refer here that, from the
very beginning; Samuel Adams contributed efficiently towards the independence of America
other than any other founding fathers of America. Therefore, scholars argued on the fact that
George Washington was eager to win the Revolutionary war and in such process ensured that the
nature of the new republic was such that it is likely to succeed. However, on the other hand,
Samuel Adams played a significant role in persuading the colonies for the purpose of declaring
their independence from the British colonies.
It is evident that, in modern era, the contribution of Samuel Adams has been totally
eclipsed in regard to the contribution made by Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and others.
It is known to all that, Samuel Adams became an important personality in the history of America.
In this regard, it is important to mention the views of Samuel Adams on the government. From
the very beginning, Adams clearly and accurately understood the nature of the perennial threat to
liberty. in his opinion, the nature of the political power was such that it was exhilarating and
therefore are likely to be abused. According to Samuel Adams, the ambition and lust of power
existing above the law has predominantly affected the nature of humankind and the liberties of
mankind.
Modern historians were of the opinion that, the American Revolution would not have
been possible without Samuel Adams. Modern scholars emphasized on the part that, as result of

his outstanding skills in regard to combining turmoil and propaganda placed the British in such a
position in which they went completely defensive. In such process, he initiated the creation of
correspondence committees for the purpose of linking the colonies thereby becoming the chief
organizer of the Boston Tea Party. In such process, the nation observed a series of war being
recognized as the Seven Years War in the colonies of America regarded as the French and the
Indian War. According to the evidences provided by the modern researchers, the portion of the
British taxes in relation to per capita income was highest during that period of time. As a result
of it, British politicians demanded that the American colonists should pay a considerable portion
of costs in relation to war. It is worth noting that, new tariffs were imposed on selected items like
imported cloth, indigo, coffee and wine. A ban on rum was also observed unless and until it was
imported from the British controlled islands situated in West Indies. Samuel Adams rightly
protested against the imposition of new taxes. Thereafter, the Stamp Act 1765 came into being
that imposed taxes on items like newspapers, licenses, playing cards and pamphlets. In order to
protest against the imposition of taxes, Samuel Adams formulated a group of tax registers
popularly known as Sons of Liberty. As a result of the formation of the Sons of Liberty, The
provisions of the Stamps Act 1765 in regard to imposition of taxes were totally ignored and due
to this the goods were imported into Boston free of tax. It is worthwhile to mention here that as a
result of such initiative, the Stamp Act was repealed. During that period, King George III acted
as the powerful monarch in Europe. It was evident from the evidences of the early historians that,
the Parliament highly dominated the American government and during this time when King
George III ascended the throne, he abused his powers dominantly over the Parliament and highly
manipulated the political powers prevailing during that time.
