Saudi Arabia after the decision of Kingdom to introduce new visa for schemes for tourists. It
was also recorded that 60% of the hotels in the country are focusing on construction of new
rooms and services for the people (Ekiz, Öter, & Stephenson, 2017). This will definitely
boost the demand of hotel rooms in the country and improve the business performance of the
hotels. The Marriott hotel operates its business in the busiest area of the country where large
number of tourists visiting every year. The busiest areas of the country are Riyadh, Jeddah,

of the country is really beneficial for the most of the large hotel brands who serve
international visitors who visit in the country for the purpose of tourism, entertainment, or

people. However, the approach of Saudi Arabia to develop tourism industry as a key sector in
its vision 2030 is very positive and the government attracts the foreign investment in this
sector that is rising every year. The tourism sector in 2017 contributed $64.2 billion in the
economy and it is expected to reach at $110 billion by 2027 with the annual growth rate of
4.8% annual growth rate. The country will also expect that the tourism sector will constitute
11.1% of the total GDP in the country by 2027 (Idrees, Vasconcelos, & Ellis, 2018).
However, the new visa policy of the country enables the country to focus on the tourism
industry especially and develop a good infrastructure for the tourism. However, the inviting
the private investment in the area of tourism will definitely boost the business performance of
hotel industry and the public private partnership in the hotel industry will be helpful in
providing better services for the domestic and international visitors in Saudi Arabia. The
impact of new visa scheme of the country can also be noticed on the hotel industry where the
hotels renovate their infrastructure, construct new rooms and introducing new services for the
people to achieve the desired growth and development in the hotel industry (Mitchell &

The Saudi government also issues a ‘Sharek’ visa for the people to enter in the

the Marriot hotel also cares for the new visitors in the country and it is located in those areas
where a tourism destination place is available for visitors so they can visit and entertain

customers after the launch of new visa scheme of Saudi Arabia force the Marriott hotel to
open two new hotels for the visitors to meet the demand (Mohammed Al Yousif, Al Bakr, &

The growth strategy of Marriot hotel is testament to the Kingdom’s vision to achieve
a thriving economy, vibrant society, and ambitious nation that will diversify its economy by
reducing the independence of the country on oil export revenue (Hvidt, 2019). Saudi Arabia
want to reduce its dependency on the oil export and want to increase its total non-oil revenue
to $160 billion by 2020, which is $43.5 billion higher than the last year. However, the
economist and government of the Kingdom understand the importance of tourism sector by
diversifying the economy, so they majorly focuses on those sectors which can contribute
more in the GDP of the country (Idrees, Vasconcelos, & Ellis, 2018). Marriott Hotel in the
starting of 2017 operates its business in nine cities of the Saudi Arabia in 29 hotels, which
have 5700 rooms in the country (Hvidt, 2019).). After the launch of the new visa policy of the
country, the Marriott hotel understands the increasing demand of visitors to stay in world
class hotels. Therefore, the hotel decided to expand its services and business operation by
increasing the number of hotels and hotel rooms. The company then construct more than
1172 room in the top 8 cities of the country including Yanbu, and King Abdullah Economic

encourages through this kind of visa to those people who visit in the country for the purpose
of religious travel.
Conclusion

development of the country are really remarkable. The hospitality industry of any country
contributes a major portion in the GDP of the country. Here the role of Marriott hotel is so
crucial in the country where Marriot hotel provide a foundation for the growth and increasing
revenue of the country from the tourism sector. People who arrive in the country want to stay
