Executive Summary
The project is based on constructing the Burnaby Hospital. The hospital management team has
decided to build the entire project within a limited budget and time period. The project has been
approved by the Government of Canada and the Healthcare Department of Canada. The
discussion in this report is based on understanding of each of the requirements and necessities of
the project. The building of the new hospital would be highly required for providing various kind
of facilities to the patients. The report discusses about the entire schedule and cost estimation for
the different activities set for the project. The report also discusses about the risks and
contingencies that are concerned with the project. Thus after the completion of the project, the
different requirements based on building of the hospital would be understood.

Statement of Assumptions
The certain assumptions could be made during the preparing of the project plan:
Permission Grant – The permission would be granted by the Government of Canada and
Healthcare Department of Canada. They would understand the project plan and then provide
approval for the project.

approved after discussing with the local administration.
Design – The design layout for the project would be approved after a formal approval
from the project management team and the higher officials.

1. Identification of Potential Customers
The potential customers who would be benefited and valued from the completion and
success of the project are the patients who would come to the hospital for getting proper
treatment. The patients who would reach to the hospital to get the healthcare assistance would be
benefited from the project. They would be highly valued from the completion of the project as
they would gain better form of assistance from the doctors. They would gain help from the new
and advanced medical equipment that would be procured within the hospital. After the
completion of the project, the patients would receive high form of convenience and comfort at
the hospital. They would also receive state-of-the-art medical technology and thus they would be
highly benefited as the doctors would also be able to serve them in a better manner.
2. Stakeholder Identification and Analysis
The different stakeholder who are involved with the construction project of Burnaby
Hospital are:
1. Burnaby Hospital Management Team – The hospital management team would be
considered as the primary stakeholder who would be assigning the work to the project manager,
construction specialists and other project sponsor. They would be made to understand about the
need for the development of a new hospital that would include the better forms of medical
equipment in order to serve the patients in the best possible manner. They would have the
maximum amount of interest based on developing the project and seeing into each of the affected
costs and outcomes from the project. They have the maximum power of choosing the best form
of contractors who would handle the entire design of the project.

2. Doctors – The doctors would also be considered as the next stakeholder within the
project. They would be affected with each of the major development activity that would take
place within the hospital. The new and efficient medical equipment that would be installed
within the hospital would also be a matter of great satisfaction for the doctors. These new
equipment that would be used by the doctors would also help them to increase the efficiency of
treatment for the patients. Enhanced form of patient services and better access to the needs of the
patients would in turn lead to better engagement with the patients.
3. Nurses – The nurses would also be affected with the development of the new hospital.
They would be benefited after the development of the new hospital as they would be able to
better follow the instructions of the doctors. Although they would have less form of power
during the development work over the construction project but they would have maximum
interest for the development of the project. This would also lead them to understand the exact
concerns of the patients by noting them and conveying them to the doctors. After the proper kind
of instructions from their supervisor doctors, the nurses would bring the new equipment that
would help in serving the patients better and efficiently.
4. Customer Support Team – The customer support team would also have latest
facilities and advanced infrastructure based on understanding the exact needs of the customer by
listening to their problems and resolving their queries. The customer support team would also
have a certain level of interest with the construction of the new hospital. Advanced from of
computing systems would be installed within the hospital that would be highly responsive and
thus they would understand the exact queries and issues raised by the customers. Accordingly,
the customer service representative would be able to identify them and thus redirect them to the
top healthcare specialist in order to solve their issues in real-time scenarios.

5. Helpdesk Specialists – The helpdesk specialists would be sitting at the reception
section of the hospital. They would also be provided with computers that would be fitted with
new and advanced software. The customers would report to them after arriving at the hospital.
They would directly listen to the customer concerns and hence transfer them to the specialized
department in order to receive further aids. These helpdesk specialists would also be responsible
for connecting the patients with the appropriate doctors who would then serve them with the
most efficient healthcare amenities. Thus they would also have a certain level of interest based
on the development of the new hospital.
6. Contractors – The contractors within the construction department would be highly
interested for performing the work of construction based on the development of the Burnaby
Hospital. The contractors would have the maximum form of interest based on receiving the
tender for the construction project. They would thus be highly responsible for detailing out the
entire aspects of the construction project to the hospital management team. They would also list
the entire list of materials in relation to performing the work of construction.
3. Project Sponsor
The Government of Canada and Health Canada, Ministry of Health and the management
team at Burnaby Hospital would be primarily responsible for sponsoring the entire project. With
the different forms of new requirement based within the infrastructure of the hospital, it would be
highly important for the project sponsor to look into the developmental aspects and the present
situation within the hospital.
The plan of the project based on developing a new hospital at a different new site would
incur a high level of understanding of the needs of patients and the healthcare industry. In order
