Definition
channel is a conglomerate of the various mediums used to convey the message to the
listeners. Effective communication is impaired without the use of medium or channel.
Channels may be direct or indirect. Examples of channels include face to face interaction,
radio transmission, television, social medias like Facebook, skype, twitter or YouTube. The
lesser the number of intermediates the more original will be the message (Coopman and Lull
2014)
Example with explanation
Twitter is one of the common used channel used in today’s world. Twitter has rearranged the
way of conveying the message, it is a suppressed version of message formation in about a
bundle of only 140 characters. Communication is not limited by this word boundary, in fact
the fast-paced masses prefer this short and handy form of message conveyance. Study
reveals that in the past years people exchanged about 500 million tweets daily (Richards
2015, pp.5-22) Thus twitter has became one of the most used channel of message
conveyance of the present times.

 VISUALIZATION
Definition
Visualization is the systematic picturization of the presenter (as the self) as the
speaker and practicing the speech with that in mind. Visualization is a vital part of
speech preparation. It helps in coping with communication apprehension and helps in
development of the constructive alternatives from the negative thoughts that set the
speaker back. Visualization help speakers in focusing and calming the nerves down.
Example with explanation
Internationally acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo-Ma’s remark on visualization is an appropriate
example for explaining its role in public communication relations. He said that
practicing is not only playing the instrument, either by oneself or rehearsing with
others, but it also includes imagining oneself practicing. The brain forms the same
neural connection and muscle memory whether one is imagining the task or is actually
doing it. So visualization helps in better speech delivery in public (Hunter Westwick and
Haleta 2014, pp.124-135)
