Script for Induction for Fitness Instructors at ‘Snap Fitness’
Good morning, one and all and a warm welcome to ‘Snap Fitness.’ We are very pleased to have
you on board as our Fitness Instructors to our strong community of dedicated individuals
committed to making the fitness journey of our clients a fruitful one. You are here because you
believe you can make a difference in someone’s life be it to make them fitter or help them lose
their unwanted weight or to build a stronger core. Whatever their fitness goals are, we are there
to help them achieve them. Our clients can choose from cardio, functional training and strength
training or a combination of all. We provide 24/7 training opportunities in our state-of-the-art
facilities with superior infrastructure and amenities ("Snap Fitness | 24/7 Gyms - Health Clubs -
Fitness Centers", 2019).
I understand you all must be feeling nervous, anxious, and excited all at once, right now. The
feeling of sharing the excitement and exhilaration of clients on achieving and even surpassing
their fitness goals, is really the highlight of this job. We are a part of one of the fastest growing
industries in the world. Physical fitness has always been important to people, but investing time,
money and effort into it was earlier considered more of a lifestyle choice than a necessity. One
of the leading experts in our field, Amanda Russell considers fitness to be so much more than
just exercise and training. She motivates her clients by reminding them of the bigger picture and
the gains at the end of the pains (Smith, n.d.). And we couldn’t agree more. Our industry has
changed from body building for celebrities and sportspersons to common individuals looking at
fitness as a healthy lifestyle choice. (Beale, 2013) We have clients who want to look lean and
trim for special occasions, who want to post their gym selfies for more social media attention,
whose fitness goals cater to their vanity, who want to look really attractive on their dating
profiles, celebrities training for work roles, sportspersons who train for competitions, regular
people wanting to compete in marathons, and so many more individuals who walk in here
everyday with a different idea of what fitness means to them, personally. We live in an age of
variety and you can feel the need for that in our clients’ demands as well (Bell, 2018). From
basic treadmills and stationery bikes to kettle bells and strength machines, customizable diet
plans and smoothie recommendations to using technology for monitoring fitness journeys,
customers want it all, and in our 15 years journey, we have always risen to this challenge.

All of you are an essential part of making that happen. You have learnt the challenges,
techniques and procedures followed by personal trainers and fitness instructors in your Level III
certification. You understand that knowing the latest trends, following the technological
updates, being responsible for safety, safeguarding the clients’ and gym’s interests, and being
sensitive to the motivations of your clients are essential to your job (Gray, Keyzer, Norton,
Dietrich, Sekendiz, Coyle, Finch, 2015). At Snap Fitness, we expect you to take your job
extremely seriously and ensure that our customers are always our priority. Any form of physical
exercise will cause discomfort and displeasure, but it is your responsibility to continuously
motivate them and keep them on track on their fitness journey. You are expected to use your
knowledge of basic human anatomy, principles of nutrition, and essentials of exercise to enable
your client to make realistic goals for their physical fitness ("The Role of a Personal Trainer",
n.d.). We offer our clients a bouquet of options of exercise plans, diet charts and customizable
fitness routines along with flexible options for time and duration of their fitness time in our
centers. You would get a brief on these details, as well as the technology used, so that you
understand the process thoroughly. Our trainers are paired with our customers based on their
compatibility, however as trainers, you need to always keep your finger on the clients’ pulse, so
to speak, to know their highs and lows, and how their daily schedules are affecting their time at
the gym. Additionally, it is expected that you would keep yourselves abreast of the latest
technological support available for fitness, and can offer suggestions to customers to incorporate
those in their routines outside or within the gym. These could be simple food tracking
applications or pedometers or sophisticated heart monitoring devices, as well. We offer these
currently at Snap Fitness and would hold regular seminars to discuss the latest developments
with all the trainers in an open forum. Along with the technical responsibilities, you need to
remember that you are going on an emotional journey with your clients as well. The journey to
physical fitness is not an isolated incident, rather a continuous path that requires dedication,
sincerity, will power, hard work, and a strong mind to challenge one’s own psyche and push our
physical boundaries. You may have to deal with issues of self-image, loss, mental fatigue, low
confidence, dwindling resolves, and a sense of failure from your clients. While we do not expect
you to be experts in dealing with these issues with the clients, we do recommend being there for
support and encouragement. We have experts within our organization who can aid them in these
areas specifically.

We understand that there is a great responsibility being placed on your shoulders and it may be
daunting to be responsible for something so personal to your clients (Vischer, 2008). You put in
your best efforts, and have a vicarious victory in their wins. Our organization aims to be agile
enough to adapt to changes in the business landscape and we provide all our employees with the
requisite tools to do so (Burke & Ng, 2006). We have shortlisted all of you from a pool of
talented people, and we believe in you.
