Introduction to the researchproject
Background of the research project:
Motivation refers to inspire a person to do something to attain the pre-defined
organizational goals and objectives. The main aim of motivation is to intensify the desire
and develop willingness among individuals to perform their duties. It is a constant process
which helps in developing and maintaining goal oriented behaviour of the individuals
(Iqbal and Dastgeer, 2017). Staff motivation plays a major role in retaining the employees
for longer duration. Through motivation, company can stimulate the employees through
monetary and non-monetary way. As a result, employees are likely to stay in organization
for longer duration.
Research Aim: “To analyze the role of staff motivation in retention of workforce within
organization”.
Research Objectives:
To review the concept of employee motivation using suitable theories and framework.
To identify the role of staff motivation in enhancing the employee retention level within
organization.
To develop effective strategies and ways to retain at the workplace for longer duration.
Research Questions:
What is the concept of employee motivation using necessary theories and framework?
What can be the impact of staff motivation on the retention level of the employees within
organization?

Data and Method
Outline the data required, data sources and data collection methods.
Research Methodology: In this process, several steps are undertake so that suitable piece
of data and information can be gathered in order to complete the research project
successfully. It comprises ample of steps from data collection to analysis to interpretation
(Ratnam, 2019). In context of the current project, qualitative methodology has been
selected to complete the research project successfully.
Qualitative research: In the give context, qualitative research is used to evaluate the non-
numerical data and information appropriately. This method is useful to collect detailed
information from different sources to ensure the success of research work.
Research philosophy: From two major research philosophies; positivism and
interpretivism. The present study will be based on positivism philosophy. This philosophy
is based on numerical information that helps in getting fair & authentic outcomes.
Research approach: There are two research approaches are followed majorly; inductive
and deductive (Rosskam, 2018). Out of these two approaches, deductive has been chosen
here as it helps in developing significant knowledge base on a particular phenomenon.
Data collection: Primary and Secondary are two major sourced to collect the necessary
amount of data and information. In context of the given study, information has been
drawn from secondary sources which are journals, publications, websites and more. Data
will be analyzed using qualitative approach which is useful in terms of analyzing the
available information in detailed manner.

As a student or member of staff undertaking a research project, I understand that I am
responsible for the following:
The security and confidentiality of all data collected
Mitigating all risks to anonymity, privacy and confidentiality posed by all kinds of
personal information storage, processing, including computer and paper files, e-mail
records, audio and video files, and any information that directly identifies an
individual. It is recommended that data be anonymised at the point of collection.
I will ensure that:
Data and codes and all identifying information will be kept in separate locked filing
cabinets/files and working files will contain no identifying information, and will only
be accessed by one or two persons
All audiotapes will be transcribed using codes or pseudonyms for identification of
individuals and destroyed upon completion of the research project
Access to computer files will be available by password only
Research data will be stored for up to 5 years after the end of the project, after which
they should be disposed of safely.
