The purpose of the study is to understand the leadership skills that I possess and the
shortcomings that still exist in my leadership skills. A leadership matrix has been provided for
me to assess and see the qualities that I possess and the qualities that are lacking in me.
Leadership is the quality in an individual to guide and lead their subordinates towards the right
direction in order to achieve the team goals. Leadership is the ability in an individual to help its
subordinates overcome the hurdles that they face in attaining both their individual and team goals
(Antonakis & Day, 2017). I have also gathered certain qualities as a leader that will be discussed
in the essay and there are some prevalent loopholes in my character that are restricting me in
attaining my goals. Thus, the main aim of the essay is to understand the qualities that I possess
and the loopholes that has to be mended.
I do possess the analytical quality in me that helps me in taking good and organized
decisions. The opinions that my fellow mates or the subordinates hold which at times leads to
arguments and conflicts. Thus the analytical capability in me helps their perspective and me to
analyze the situation and the opinions that they hold and after analyzing I give the judgments
which helps in overcoming the conflicts within the team. This helps in maintaining relations
between the employees or the subordinates. The creative and innovative aspect is also a good
quality in me as I help my fellow mates with alternative ideas in the areas that they face
problems they ideas and the innovative strategies that I provide helps them in overcoming the
problem areas and serve the purpose of the requirements. I am under skilled in terms of
optimism any challenge that turns to be a big issue makes me feel anxious and I take decisions in
anxiety, which later proves to be a big mistake. Thus, the positivity aspect is severely lacking in
me, my co-workers also gets demotivated at times when they see lack of confidence in me.
However, I am supportive and collaborative with my fellow mates or my subordinates I tend to

hear their grievances and the opinions that they have for the betterment of the team and try in
implementing those ideas in order to make the team achieve its aims. Whenever my subordinates
feel demotivated I tend to encourage them so that they can attain their individual goals. I also
tend to make my subordinates understand the requirement of attaining the goals and encourage
them thoroughly to achieve them. I am under skilled in terms of being flexible, as I cannot adopt
to the new challenges that are being raised in front of me. I cannot adapt to the new changes that
are being installed in the company as I face difficulties in being accustomed to that and I also
tend to face issues in identifying the challenges or the task that are assigned. This leads me to
drastic downfalls and thus this lack of prioritizing the tasks and the challenges makes the
authority of the company dissatisfied with my work. I am also not at all resilient, as I do not
have a wide idea about the strategies that can help me overcome the problems and the obstacles
that I face in my professional life and I do not understand the areas that will help me in
developing my skills and potentials. The quality of being member focused is very much instilled
in me as I try in helping my subordinates attain their individual goal. I also try to understand the
problem areas that are the subordinates are experiencing and suggest those methods or
resolutions that can help them overcome those issues. I am honest, ethical and inclusive I never
go against my company’s ethics and my team’s ethics as violating the ethical ground is a
punishable act and thus performing such illegal activities can make the team lose its visions and
their aims.
The leadership skill that I need to develop in order to achieve my team goals and
individual development is to be positive during facing or experiencing any challenge in my
professional career. Positive attitude is very essential for the team as it helps in motivating the
teammates and the subordinates in order to help them in achieving the goals. A leader must
