Executive Summary
This is the self assessment report that mainly focuses on the development of the personality by
analyzing own strengths and weaknesses. The main aim of the project report is to analyze the
personal attributes and understand how these abilities influence the decision making process.
There are many factors related to the personality development which are explained in this report.
With the help of the Myers Briggs, all the personality insights have been analyzed. I found that I
have the ISTJ personality traits as I am a very introvert personality, sensitive, thoughtful and
judging. Talking about the attitudes and values, then I have a positive attitude towards the life
and I believe in the ethical and cultural values. The most important thing that inspires me the
most is the appreciation. I feel motivated with the non- monetary rewards.
Furthermore, the emotional intelligence and the leadership are the very important concepts as in
taking better decisions. Both the concepts influence the decision making process. Every person
should have the control on their emotions as they will not affect the decisions in the future and as
a human being, I also have the emotions, but I have the ability to control my emotions. As a
leader, I am not that much good and experienced personality. Therefore, there is a possibility
that I can be the best leader as I have the skills and abilities. I am very confident and have good
communication skills as well as have the ability to inspire and motivate others. In the end all the
theories related to the decision making has been discussed.

Overview
Self awareness means to understand the own capabilities, limitations, and how to improve
yourself in order to survive in the competitive world. Understanding yourself is the key to
success. A person can improve himself or herself only when he or she knows about their
weaknesses. In this report, I have discussed all the different parameters related to the
development of the personality and what traits I have possessed also explained in this report. The
impact of the different values and emotions on the decision making is also discussed. In this
research, I have shared my personal view of the development of the personality and the different
behavioral approaches. The study is carried out to figure out the influence of the emotional
intelligence, leadership, attitudes on the decision making processes and how they are helping in
solving the number of problems. Talking about the attitudes and values, then I have a positive
attitude towards the life and I believe in the ethical and cultural values. The most important thing
that inspires me the most is the appreciation. Moving further, the report also focuses on the
leadership abilities and the level of the emotional intelligence that I have. Decision making is a
difficult process as it demands the skills, creativity and abilities. All the important factors
(Pittenger, 2008).
Moreover, the theories given by the different researchers in relation to the decision making are
also mentioned in the last. The decision taken by any person depends on the needs, other
perceptions and own personal viewpoints with regard t particular relation. Empathy is the quality
in the person that helps to understand the feelings and emotions of the other personalities and all
these abilities in a person are very useful in managing the relationships.

Insights about my personality
Myers- Briggs type Indicator is the best model that helps to obtain the insights about the
personality and all these can be better explain with the help of this model. This model is based on
the people’s behavior, interactions and the way of living. The communication between the two
different personalities is the best approach of analyzing the behavior and nature of the person.
The people in this world are of very different natures and different characteristics. Every person
have the different ways of taking the decisions. These different characteristics of the people are
explained by the MBTI, which provides the 16 different personality traits (Murray, 1990). All
the traits given by the MBTI model are the mixture of the different preferences or characteristics
which are as follows:
Extroverts: These people are very open in nature as they focus more on speaking and very
energetic. These types of personalities easily get mixed up with other people. These people enjoy
every task and they are multitasking personalities in nature.
Introverts: These people are very calm in nature and analyze the ideas, information and inner
and deep world. These personalities always give a thought to what they are saying. These people
are very reserved in nature and prefer to have the communication session separately rather than
the group activities (Furnham & Crump, 2015).
Sensors: The word sensor refers to the sensitivity and these types of people believe in the
practical things and very sensible and realistic in nature.
Intuitives: The person thinks about the possibilities and imaginary things are the intuitive
personalities. They are not realistic in nature.

Thinkers: Thinkers are the personalities who took the decisions on the basis of the real facts and
logical information.
Feelers: When a person just took a decision on the basis of their own perception and belief, they
are known as feelers not thinkers (Pittenger, 1993).
Judgers: These persons tend to be planned and organized nature. The Judgers always prefer to
have the stable and well mannered life as they are not freedom lovers.
Perceivers: Perceivers are the freedom lovers and less organized in nature. These people are
opposite in nature of the Judgers (University of Saskatchewan, 2009).
Also, there are 16 different types of personality traits which are the mixture of the four different
characteristics. These are shown in the below figure.

If I assess my nature and behavior , then I am very introvert and sensible person. The decisions
taken by me are on the basis of the real facts and I believe to have the structured and well
mannered life. All these characteristics of mine fall under the category of the ISTJ personality
traits.
Attitudes, Values and Motivators
The values and the motivators are also the key aspects of the human behavior and greatly effect
the decision making process. BVM is the method stands for business values and motivators
which is used to understand the human values and the employees need to motivate them. There
are many values identified in the human behavior. The most important values are the cultural ,
psychological and the ethical values. Every person in this world thinks differently and behave
differently on different situations.

There is a big five model that explains the different five types of attitudes and these five traits are
Extraversion, consciousness, emotional stability, openness to change and agreeableness.
Talking about my own attitude, then it is positive and flexible in nature. My attitude always
subject to change depending on the situations. Every attitude has the three different elements in
nature and those are the cognitive, affective and behavioral. It is observed that the personality
and the values are different in nature. Values are the beliefs of the human, whereas the
personality is the inborn qualities of the person. Personality traits cannot create any conflicting
situation, but values can lead to conflicts. (Goleman, 1995).
Motivation is the best thing that changes the behavior and the thinking of the person. The
employees working in the organization always need motivation to perform well to achieve the
organizational goals. There are two types of the motivation- financial and non financial. The
financial motivation can be given in the form of money such as giving hike in the salaries,
bonuses and the financial rewards. The non financial motivation refers to the appreciation,
recognition and the decision making involvement. Every individual like me, wants appreciation
and they feel important and special if other individuals consider their viewpoints and opinions
while taking the decisions.
Emotional intelligence
This is true fact that every person has the different needs and different level of the emotions. The
term emotional intelligence is the understanding of the emotions and feelings and their impact on
the process of the decision making. Emotional people always find it difficult to take the right

decisions as their decisions are highly influenced by their own feelings and emotions. It has been
seen that those people are more successful who are practical in nature and less emotional.
Emotional intelligence helps in managing the relationships by creating social values and working
in a group. Moreover, people with high emotional intelligence have the different perspective to
handle the situations and differ from the personalities who get upset and angry very easily
(E&Y, 2015). Daniel Goleman has given the five main characteristics of the emotional
intelligence and these are explained as below:
1. Self-awareness – It is very important to be aware about yourself. The people with high
intelligence are very well know, how to control their feelings and emotions. These people
are very confident and they never take the decisions emotionally, as they think
practically. It is very important to analyze the strength and weaknesses in an honest way.
2. Self-regulation – Regulations mean to have the control on the emotions and feelings and
this characteristic is very significant as these qualities prevent them from anger and
Jealous. Moreover, these types of personalities who know the self regulation are open to
change, calm, good thinkers (Ventus Publishing, 2012).
3. Motivation – Motivation is the important factor and the people with high emotional
intelligence are highly motivated and positive in nature. They are highly dedicated
towards their tasks and love to accept the challenges and perform each and every task
very effectively.
4. Empathy – The empathy word refers to the quality that people have to understand the
what other people think about you and about the particular situation and then analyze
their need to take the best decisions. This is a very rare quality that people have and the

people with that quality are able to recognize the emotions of the other person. Overall,
the relationships can be managed with these type of qualities. In simple words, these
people are good at judgements and have good listening skills.
5. Social Skills – This is the quality in the person to communicate with the others in a very
soft language and attracts the other person. These people assumed as the real players and
they help the other people rather than looking at the their own work. The people with
high social skills are masters of building the relationships and managing the conflicts
very easily(Team FME, 2014).
Leadership abilities
It is a very important concept in the personality development and decision making. The main job
of the leader is to improve the efficiencies and the other personalities by motivating and inspiring
them. The leaders are the important persons as they provide the directions to the team or group of
members to achieve the future goals. Good leaders always manage the relations and achieve the
goals by making strategies. Being a leader, it is very important that they should have the creative
and innovative ideas and always make the right decisions by choosing the best out of all. There
are many qualities that the leaders should have to inspire and lead the team. Talking about my
own personality, then I have some of the abilities and qualities of being a leader. These are given
as below:

Honesty: I have observed that I am very honest personality as for me every person is same and
equal. I have the ability to encourage the people to live up the standards and inspire them to
improve their efficiency(Ireland, 2012).
Communication: Communication skills are very important for the leadership as it will help them
to deliver the message in the clear and simple words. As I have these qualities to convey the
accurate messages. I also have the power to convince people and they always ask about my
suggestions before taking any decisions.
Confidence: The confidence is must as the leaders have to represent their ideas in front of the
huge audience to gain their attention. However, it is essential whatever you are doing it is
important to have the confidence in yourself. Those people are more successful who are highly
confident.
Positive attitude: The positive approach towards the life is the great ability that a leader can have.
The leaders have the abilities to take all the negative situations in the positive way. I always used
to think positively and have followed the positive approach to succeed in the life (Global, 2001).
Creativity: The innovative and creative ideas are always appreciated. However, as a leader, it is
very important to think out of the box and always choose the best option among the number of
the alternatives to make the right decisions. The creativity in the human being is the success
factor in today’s life.
All of the above mentioned are the abilities and characteristics of the leadership that I have
possessed and all these abilities have a great impact on the decision making process.

Power and Politics
This part of the report describes the different approaches used towards the power and politics.
Power is defined as the ability of the person to influence the decision making process as well as
the controlling processes. On the other side, politics is the informal approach used by the people
to gain the power that influence the decisions. Power is of many types – position, socialized and
personalized powers. The power that I have to influence the decision making is the personal
power and this power includes my own abilities and skills to take the decisions. In general, the
best power is the expert power as they already face the similar situation and they can the right
decisions as per their own experience. The position power is the organizational power, such as
the manager has the positional power to manage and give orders to the subordinates (Ahmed &
Omotunde, 2012). Talking about the approaches used in the politics, then there are two
approaches. One is ethical and the other one is the unethical approach. My preference is always
on the ethical approaches and these are helpful in managing the contacts and builds a good
impression on the other people.
Decision making and problem solving
Decision making is defined as the process of taking the best decisions and choosing the best
solution for the problem among the list of the alternatives. It is very important to analyze the
facts, information and decisions while taking any kind of the decisions in the organizations.
There are a number of theories given by the different scholars and in this part we took two major
theories and these are-

Simon’s theory: This is the theory given by the Simon and he focused on the human behavior
while taking the decisions in the organizations. According to this theory, there are many steps to
take the right decisions. The first step is the identification of the problems and the analysis of the
need of taking the decisions. (Dillon, 2014). Next step is to generate the possible solutions of the
problem and weigh them according to the needs and skills. Rating of the each alternative is very
important before selecting any one alternative. Last step is to choose the highest rank alternative
and implement that decision in order to solve the particular problem.
Gaming Theory: This theory is the mathematical approach used to take the decisions on the basis
of the available facts. The gaming theory is considering all the conflict and cooperation factors,
whereas in Simon’s theory all the behavioral approaches are used.
Conclusion
In this report, I have discussed all the different parameters related to the development of the
personality and what traits I have possessed also explained in this report. The impact of the
different values and emotions on the decision making is also discussed. In this research, I have
shared my personal view of the development of the personality and the different behavioral
approaches. The study is carried out to figure out the influence of the emotional intelligence,
leadership, attitudes on the decision making processes and how they are helping in solving the
number of problems. Therefore, it is concluded that the decision making process needs the
various parameters in the human personality.
