INTRODUCTION
Self-development plan plays crucial role in developing professional growth in effective
way. The present report deals with preparation of self-development plan with respect to banking
sector carrying out various strengths and weaknesses quite easily. Moreover, in the report it is
discussed about life cycle curve which provides highs and lows in career growth. Moreover,
opportunities and threats are explained due to change in current scenario in Qatar. Action plan is
prepared so that efficiency can be enhanced in a better way. Various activities are listed to
accomplished and strategies are described to overcome weaknesses in the best possible way.
A) Personal reflection
My personal philosophy on life is that I want to achieve my goals within stipulated time
so that may be able to develop myself. I want to be become manager of recognised global bank
in the near future. For accomplishing this goal, I need to do hard work and attain within time
frame. The purpose of my life is simple that I want to make others happy so that I can achieve
happiness. Moreover, to accomplish happiness, donating some blood to the needy people. In
addition to this, spreading positive vibes across the people also leads to attain happiness (Denker,
2016). This is the main purpose of my life to spread happiness so that I may be happy as well.
Another purpose of my life is to accomplish self-development and so that I can prepare
myself for challenges facing in life ahead in the best possible way. This can be achieved my
analysing strengths and weaknesses in that way so that I may easily overcome weaknesses within
timely manner. This is required as without analysis of personal strengths and weaknesses,
success cannot be achieve with much ease. I would love to attain my passion towards banking
industry so that timely achievement can be done. For following up the passion, mind and heart
should be on the right path and as such, dreams can be easily attained (Reichard and et.al, 2017).
Always Keep trust on yourself that I can easily accomplish may set targets gives a lot of
confidence and courage. Moreover, while focusing on my goal, it is required that I may also
focus on giving and sharing happiness in effective manner. Thus, sharing happiness with others
should also be a central focus point.
In relation to my secret dreams I would like to achieve my passion towards banking
industry so that I may feel proud to my nation and my near and dear ones in the best possible
way. Secret dreams are really tough to achieve but I can attain those with my firm determination

and hard work towards attaining good position in the global banking industry and provide
reputation to my country and family as well. My dream is also to become innovate banker with
firm determination and dedication towards work so that I may inject success in the banking
industry with my innovative skills in the best possible manner. This will help banking industry to
attain strong base in quite effective way (Alter, 2017).
The dream towards my family is that I may impart them a peaceful life where they can
extract all happiness of life with much ease. This is required to be fulfilled so that they can lead
peaceful and good life in desired manner. Moreover, dream for my nation is that I may follow
the right path which are guided by Buddha. This will give me enough strength to attain goals in
effectual manner. The spiritual teachings and positive energies will help me to drive towards
achieving targets with much ease. This is important so that I can serve my nation in that way
which will be beneficial for attaining growth and development quite effectively. These are my
personal dreams, for family and for my nation which is required to be successfully accomplished
within stipulated time frame.
In addressing my secret dreams, several natural talents are also imparted to me which
help me a lot to accomplish things in effective way. Starting from it, I can easily understand and
grasp things as my listening skills are quite good as compared to others. This is the main natural
talent which help to grab and extract meaning out the lectures delivered to me. This may be
helpful for attaining training from my seniors during the training and development period and I
may be able to grasp new things in quite effective way. This will be helpful for me to achieve
new things in the best possible manner. In relation to this, people praise me for this which gives
lot of courage and confidence to perform even better (Robertson, 2017). They also praise me
because of caring nature that provides me strength towards achievement of goals in effectual
manner. Helping others is important so that I can share happiness and people praise me for that
which provides positive energy to me.
I have excelled in the past in the sphere of leadership. This is one of the toughest job as to
provide guidance to people requires lot of courage and understanding mind of people so that job
can be accomplished in the best possible way. Leadership mainly requires how you motivate
your fellow members so that they may achieve set targets for the betterment of the company. In
relation to work ethics, I woke up early in the morning so that I may analyse what work is to be

accomplished my me and that too with the least possible time to complete tasks so that efficiency
can be attained in the right manner. Moreover, I take my responsibilities in that manner so that I
can easily provide good work by encouraging team members. I accept my mistakes and try to
learn from it. The main positive energy which drives me is that I stand towards wrong
whatsoever be the situation (Korah and et.al, 2017).
Moreover, I can easily sacrifice my comfort if it provides some good return to others and
I can easily impart happiness by befitting my personal habits and comfort zone. In relation to my
personal experience, I had recognised and realised that success cannot be achieved if you are not
self-developed to attain it. I have attained matured personality by carrying out ways to do hard
work and as such, it is required that firm determination and dedication pays relevant outcome
sooner or later. I have transformed myself in effective manner so that I can attain good position
in banking industry.

1. Hitting rock bottom
It is the main milestone of my life so that I can extract passion in the best possible way.
Assessing passion is required so that hard work may be put in to extract relevant outcome with
much ease. Without positive energy, success cannot be achieved (Eton and et.al, 2017).
2. Recognising hidden talent
It is another milestone which is concerned with analysing hidden talent and passion so
that goals can be accomplished quite easily. Hidden passion needs to be assessed to achieve
success. Thus, my passion is to attain higher position in Executive management team in five
years and then serve the nation. I analyse my life in five years to secure promotion and lead the
management team. This will help me to attain good level of satisfaction.
C) Personal strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
My personal strength in the banking industry is that I have 22 years of experience in the
sector. Attaining such milestone was successful because I analyse my hidden passion in effective
way. Following this, I had a successful career in the industry (Newman and Newman, 2017).
This has been good throughout my journey as it has given me good career growth. I was assistant
in the initial stage and rose to Controller position in the banking sector which has provided good
base for promoting to higher position mainly in executive management team. Another strength in
my banking career is that I have been mentoring in training centre in bank and providing good
knowledge regarding team members so that they may adopt necessary knowledge with much
ease.
Another personal strength of mine is that I'm highly connected to senior management.
This is essential so that I can follow the orders of the management and abide the same to initiate
success in achieving group goals in effective way. I have another proven records of managing
team in NDB Bank having experience of supervising the team. The experience has given me

good base for qualifying for higher position (Phillips, Mazzeo and Smith, 2016). I have done not
only graduation but also completed my MBA in banking field. This is the plus point in my career
and is required for securing higher position. I have proven records of completing banking and
finance courses. I have good experience in several global and local institutions such as Seylan
Bank Plc, NDB Bank and Doha Bank. The records in these recognised institutions have given
me good overall strength.
Weaknesses
I have weaknesses such as no adequate degree of professional qualification. I'm not
committed to enhance personal development and as such, skills are less developed. Moreover,
I'm much straightforward towards my work. In relation to this, I'm much aggressive which I need
to overcome so that I may develop calm attitude. For overcoming this, diplomatic behaviour is
required to be adopted to eliminate such weakness. For securing higher position of leading team,
communication is required to be adequate which is the biggest weakness of mine. I need to learn
such skills so that I can understand new things to employees to initiate good knowledge to them.
Moreover, I'm not committed to achieve personal goals which is required to attain
promotion in executive management team. In relations to this, I'm less attentive towards my
personal health which is required so that I may perform well. Maturity level of mine is not good
and I need to attain maturity up to high extent. Moreover, I need to control mind in effective way
so that I can extract good productivity (Rozman, 2017). Lack of concentration level is another
weakness which I need to overcome to attain higher position. Moreover, I need to overcome
weakness such as impatience and selfishness. This is required as I like others to lead me which is
not good behaviour as it become hurdle for me to secure management position.
Moreover, I'm not patient towards my work as needs time to secure higher top
management position in global bank. In addressing this, I impatient and as such, think over
implementing change overnight only. Significant changes cannot be implemented overnight, it
requires time to attain relevant outcome. Another weakness is that I do not know Arabic
language which is required for managerial position in Qatar and Arabic nations.

There are several opportunities that will inject my career growth in the best possible way.
One of the major opportunity is completion of my MBA in the 2018 only. I may be able to
secure higher position as post graduation will be accomplished in September month inculcating
future growth. Securing executive management position is my milestone which I may attain by
competing other course apart from MBA and as such, it will provide me strength and opportunity
to add one more degree to my career and growth can be achieved (Alyamac, Ghafari and Ince,
2017). MBA will not only help me to get close to my goal but also give me opportunity to do
doctorate in finance sector in effective manner. This will help me to easily do PHD as well. This
will add on my degrees and help me to secure higher position.
Due to the changing environment, another opportunity for me is to get selected for
vacancies in the management position and as such, I can gain position in Sri Lankan and Gulf
sector. Mentoring and giving training to workers have been my dream which may be fulfilled
due to the changing environment in the Gulf and Sri Lankan banking industry. This is another
opportunity for me to attain dream in effective way. Apart from this, healthy life style may be
attained by securing higher position in Gulf and Sri Lankan banking sector. These opportunities
can be easily garnered by me to attain executive management team position in quite effectual
way.
Threats of changing environment obstructing achievement
There are various threats which can obstruct my achievement of goals ion effective
manner. This is essential to overcome those so that it may not hinder my growth in the global
banking sector in the best possible way. Starting from first obstacle which is related to Qatar
crisis prevailing in the banking sector. The crisis has been for a while and as such, it has affected
banking sector (Kerr, 2017). I may not get higher position job as crisis is the biggest obstacle in
my personal growth. Moreover, oil prices are collapsed which has affected revenue to banking
sector. Qatarisation is another threat due to changing environment. Government has implemented
strict laws regarding giving jobs to citizens of Qatar and as a result, this has limited jobs in
banking sector.
This has restricted my personal growth and career in bad manner. Due to changing
environment, Arabic Language is also required in the present scenario for securing higher job.
The language is not known to me and as a result, it is another obstacle to me. Age is another

obstacle in getting job in the banking sector (Delaney, Pattinson, McCarthy and Beecham, 2017).
In the present scenario, banking industry needs young bankers so that they enhance overall
productivity. But, this obstructs my growth. Single is another hindrance to my growth which may
deprive me to gather important contacts with married professionals which are required to get
higher post. This will be a big loss to me in the current banking scenario. Moreover, technology
is developing fast day-by-day and as such, in the coming future need for banking personnels will
be reduced up to great extent. Innovation will restrict growth for me in adverse way. These all
obstacles will be impeding me to achieve set targets.
E) Strategies in terms of using the real strength and eliminate the real weaknesses
On the imagined opportunities of the future the real strange need to be capitalized in
order to achieve this the strategies need to be made. The following are the strategies that can be
developed using strength .They are as follows-:
The professional qualification need to be revoked as soon as possible. This will provide an
opportunity for the future and in order to enhance the knowledge the additional studies also
need to be done such as PHD or other courses can also be done to grab the opportunity for
future(Kinniburgh and Van der Kolk, 2017).
The changing of the employer can be done continuously so that there are career growth
opportunities. This will be beneficial for the career as new opportunities for the career will
be achieved and also through this the knowledge and experience of the individual will also
be enhanced.
In order to achieve the career aspiration the management position from home country need to be
accepted as this will develop a satisfaction among the individual as they will get an
opportunity to work towards their dream(Kulkarni and Klemmer, 2015).
The more of training and mentoring need to be done to educate other people and help other to
develop the skills required for the job. With the training and mentoring that will be given to
other the people will be beneficial for them as they will be learning more about their job and
apply these skills that are developed from training in the work that they do. So, it is
necessary to give training and mentoring to people so as help them to developed the skills
and knowledge that are necessary for the work and to achieve its goals and objectives.

The strategies should also be made in order to minimize the weakness. The following are the
strategies that can be made to overcome them. They are as follows-:
ï‚· On the weaker areas such as not knowing the Arabic language, loss of concentrations,
requirements of more patient in life etc more counselling need to be provided(McClelland
and Grammer, 2018).
ï‚· In order to control anger and loss of concentration and reduce the aggression that is being
there in the work the medications need to be followed regularly.
ï‚· Towards the commitment that is being set up by the making sector I think they need to
work more towards it
ï‚· This banking also need to be more diplomatic as the straight-forwardness of this banking
sector is not always good for them.
ï‚· I think they need to also calm their anger and remove harm in the stressful conditions as
the calmness will help them in the positive way in their work and also a lot of work load
can also be reduced if they stay calm in their work.
ï‚· I think in order to learn Arabic language they should join some additional course that will
hep to overcome this language issue that is being faced by this banking sector. Some
language course related to Arabic can be joined by them. I think this will be beneficial for
them and their work(Megginson and Whitaker, 2017).
The new converted strength will be beneficial in order to gap more opportunities. I think
it will help to learn different language and through they will be able to communicate more
efficiently with the people. I think training and mentoring will help this sector in order to expand
the knowledge of their employees and through this their involvement in the work will also be
more. With all these the new goals and objectives will be set by this sector they will able to
reduce their anger and a sort of calmness will be there in them. The commitment towards the
work will help them to generate more satisfaction regarding the services that is being given by
them(Noe and Wanek, 2014).

and the status of health will be overweight and there will no retirement plans during this year. In

year that is 2019 the healthy body will be there and also to the nephew the responsibility will be
handed over and after the development of consultant the retirements plans are there. In the year
2010 the gym body will be achieved and in the personal life children will be there and also to the
friends /family the guidance will be given to achieve the success. By the year 2021 more
innovate lecturing method will be learned and in the career the growth will also be there. By the
year 2023 the professional qualification will be PHD finance and also a new institute will also be
opened and to maintain the health mediation will be done.
CONCLUSION
Hereby it can be concluded that personal development plan plays important role in
transforming professional life towards right path to achieve success. Analysing and assessing
strengths and weaknesses are required so that goals may be achieved within stipulated time.
Moreover, it is also required to extract opportunities and threats to attain efficiency. Life cycle
