Summary to explain the rationale upon materials used to populate the
portfolio
To improve communication and get success in academic and professional life there is
huge need of continuous learning about the new aspects and their application within
real life workings. This will provide the opportunity to tackle the different situation
properly along with building effective communication that enables continuous
functioning in right direction. The 12 documents which were selected by me to populate
the e- portfolio includes Citing sources, evaluating sources, communication for
academic and professional context e.g., writing skills, reading skills, presentation skills,
research Skills, reflective learning, data collection method, learning styles, multiple
intelligences, applying knowledge and transferring skills and lifelong learning in a
knowledge economy. These all have their own different importance in the field of study
and learning. These will provide the opportunity to gain knowledge for further
improvement in sector of academics and professional career. The main reason behind
the selection of these materials is to populate the e-portfolio with number of resources
that aid in improvement my experience at work and within the employment (Carl and
Strydom, 2017).
At the time of studying, lots of experience had with me related to in appropriate
completion of projects, understanding about the topic, presentation of main points and
ascertaining of actual result from the study of different sources. The direct negative
impact of these all was ascertained by me on own communication. I am not able to
disseminate the information because don’t have confidence over my workings and
knowledge. This clearly depicts that needed to study about different aspects that help in
improvement of knowledge within specified fields along with attaining the behaviour of
continuous learning. In this regard, the points upon which focus is required to provide
includes citing sources, evaluating sources, data collection methods, learning styles,
writing, reading, presentation & research skills and reflective learning. These all will
contribute in gaining true and reliable information effective source. Also, aid in
presentation of matter with same effectiveness as it holds in actual (Tyler and Dibble,
2019).

At the time of employment, some experiences had with me that depicts the need for
learning and gaining knowledge. Firstly, I don’t have multiple intelligences that restricts
toward effective decision making. Secondly, unable to do the practical application of
knowledge and transferring of skills that proved me as ineffective leader. In last, I have
the tendencies to be confined within the own area of knowledge that restricts my
professional growth as life learning is must to with the evolving nature of economy. In
this regard, the aspects which will be played important role in development of mine
knowledge and behaviour includes ascertaining and practicing multiple intelligences,
practical application of knowledge and transferring of skills and lifelong learning within a
knowledge economy. These all will must help me to develop as good leader and
professional that able to communicate and apply knowledge in every type of situation
(Korhonen, Lakkala and Veermans, 2019).
Reflection upon the 12 documents used to populate portfolio
Citing sources
This is the important process that includes referring to or reporting data sources as
a significant piece of the examination procedure. To refer a source intends to give credit
to the first source of data, a thought, or method for articulating a thought. It is a
normalized strategy for recognizing assets utilized within an exploration. The main
reason behind the selection of this under the portfolio is to improve experience faced
during the performance of project under academics. Also, understood from the
associated benefits with this aspect that aid in building confidence regarding the
presentation of information as the reliability automatically depicts from the cited source.
This will definitely further aid me in attraction of the attention of all readers along with
bringing improvements in academic career. Here, it creates the trust of all personnel’s
and readers that information provided is authentic and well researched according to the
nature of topic. This exercise has direct positive impact in form of developing own level
of communication and confidence.
Evaluating sources
This is determined as the procedure of fundamentally assessing data according to a
provided reason so as to decide whether it is fitting for the proposed use or not. This

aspect has lots of importance in life. This will help in development of both academics
and professional career. The main reason behind the selection of this topic under the
portfolio was the bad experiences in past and associated large number of growth
opportunities. In past, there were many instances where I felt that not able to complete
the assigned work and the work which would be done was not appropriate in nature. I
understood that this was happened because of mine inability under effective source
evaluation (DeCesare and et al., 2016). Also, this aspect has importance in future
where help in building profound professional career. This provide the competitive edge
amongst other where I am able to finding the appropriate result through effective
evaluation of different sources.
Communication for academic and professional context e.g., writing skills
This is known as a type of correspondence that permits a person to write their
sentiments and thoughts down, to sort out their insight and convictions into persuading
contentions, and to pass on importance through all around built content. In its most
exceptional structure, composed articulation can be as clear as a masterpiece. The
effective writing needs to be include good vocabulary, correct grammar and spelling
with perfect punctuations. This is included in portfolio because it has huge importance in
whole life. Also, there were many past instances where I found myself unable to present
the matter in correct vocabulary, grammar and punctuations. The impact of this was
unable to get the appreciation from peers and professors. I am understanding the
importance of this towards building my academic and professional career more
profound (Bingham, Quinn and Gerde, 2017).
Reading skills
It is defined as the capacity to comprehend composed content. It is prudent to build up
this aptitude at early time of tutoring. At the point when person grasp or comprehend
composed content, and join their comprehension with earlier information. This will
provide the opportunity to gain actual results which are important to understand or
define the aspect. The main reason behind the selection of this under portfolio is
associated large number of positive benefits along with past bad experiences to grab
actual meaning from the adjoining of the two important comprehensions. The

development of reading skills must help in future to improve understanding by improving
grasping power (Stanley, Petscher and Catts, 2018).
Presentation skills
This skill helps in conveying powerful and drawing in introductions to an assortment of
crowds. These aptitudes spread an assortment of territories, for example, the structure
of your introduction, the plan of your slides, the tone of voice and the non-verbal
communication want to pass on. The main reason behind the selection of this under the
portfolio is to improve the presentation of information that will be evaluated with high
level of efforts. Also, another reason was the bad experience in presentation of own
project where unable to attract the attention. I don’t have the knowledge regarding the
importance of tone, nonverbal communication and structuring of slides in improvement
of presentation ability. The study of this skill must help me in future to grab the
knowledge about the use of these practices in effective presentation of matter. This also
has importance towards building professional career more strong where work as base
towards ascertaining promotions (Van Emden and Becker, 2016).
Research Skills
These are the skills that includes the capacity to scan for, find, extricate, arrange,
assess and use or present data that is applicable to a specific theme. It includes serious
inquiry, examination, and basic investigation, for the most part in light of a particular
research question or theory. The main reason behind the selection of this under the
portfolio is to improve the research skills for ascertaining most reliable and true
information relation to the topic. This has effective contribution in future over mine
academic and professional career where able to perform functions according to the
standard direction.
Reflective learning
In actual, this is about a type of ascertaining knowledge where the person reflects
upon their learning encounters. A hypothesis about intelligent learning refers to it as a
purposeful and complex procedure that perceive the job of social setting and
experience. The main reason behind the selection of this under portfolio is to improve
mine ability to learn from the past experiences. This is important in future for the

and again. I understood this that it is not good in mine personality otherwise able to
learn from the past mistakes happened in academics. Now, in this regard, needed to
focus over learning determinants that can improve knowledge from past experiences.
Data collection method
This is the procedure of gathering data from all the important sources to discover
answers to the exploration issue, test the theory and assess the results. Information
assortment strategies can be separated into two classes: secondary techniques for
information assortment and primary techniques for information assortment. The main
reason behind the selection of this topic under portfolio that has great importance
towards improving research skills. Also, failed to applied in past while performing the
academic project. This will provide the opportunity to effectively use the methods on the
basis of the conditions and research nature. This must have effective contribution to get
the knowledge about the sources which will be important towards providing reliable
information.
Learning styles
This can be understood as the special manner by which the person ingests, forms,

importance to know about the aspect which is most suitable for me to gain knowledge.
The future impact of this will be ascertained by me in form of high ability to grasp
knowledge upon new concepts.
Multiple intelligences

learns and get data. These numerous knowledge's range from the utilization of words,

contemplation, physical development and being in line with nature. The main reason
behind the selection of this under the portfolio is to improve the personality regarding

career in past. It directly restricts the growth and had negative impact over decision
making ability (Bourrier and et al., 2017).
Applying knowledge and transferring skills
This the concept about the practical application of knowledge and transferring of
same skills to other. The main reason behind the inclusion of this under portfolio is to
improve the ability to become good leader where able to effectively apply the knowledge
at workplace and simultaneously motivates the other to accept the same criterion in
performance of their own functions. I had the bad experiences under this in past. The
inability of mine regarding application and transferring of skills restricts to become good
leader that resultants to inappropriate completion of work. It hinders the growth
opportunities for mine within a professional career. The improvement of this will
enabling in getting high professional growth.
Lifelong learning in a knowledge economy
This is about that the nature of economy and importance of lifelong learning. The
economy has evolving nature where changes are continuous. To stay in this economy,
person must have the ability regarding learning of the new concepts on lifelong basis.
The main reason behind the selection of this topic under the portfolio is to understand
the importance of flexible nature for surviving within an evolving economy through
adoption of the lifelong learning process. This has positive impact over a person where
they will understand the importance of personality development within the living of good
life. This will also provide the opportunity to use these personality improvements within
professional growth of a career.
