INTRODUCTION
Communication is that process in which people shared their ideas. It is important
elements of the interpersonal development plan through which one can measure its own ability
and activities. There are different types of tool that is helps to individuals to improve their
communication skills with other. Each individual also hold communication skills which helps to
them for making effective interaction with other (Ting‐Toomey, 2015). The present report is
based on the self-reflection of individual and their interpersonal communication plan. This
report covers all important aspects of communication and different types of tools which used to
diagnostic personal skills. In addition, it covers key communication issues and Analysis of own
communication style. At last, this report make analysis on the personal development plan which
is related to communication skills.
TASK 1
a) Diagnostic Tools for communication
There are different types of tools which I use for making my communication skills
effective given below are diagnostic tools of communication process.
The Johari window
It is modern tool which is used by many people to develop the understanding with other
individuals. I use this model to improve my interpersonal communication and understanding
with others. There are mainly four types of elements which are placed under this model one is
open area, Blind area, hidden area and unknown area. Open area is related to those skills which
aee know and need be improved blind area is related to those abilities about which the
individuals are aware , Hidden area represent that part which I know about myself but other
people do not and unknown area is the one which is unknown for me as well as for other people.
Communication Styles Questionnaire
This questionnaire is designed to help the individuals for improving their interpersonal
skills. . With the help of this questionnaire, I can know about the communication styles It helps
to develop mu own potential. Through this questionnaire, I was able to identify learning and
communication strengths and ways to improve them. This method includes lots of questions
which helps in making aware about the communication process as well as skills.

Assertiveness Questionnaire
This is also similar to the communication questionnaire. Through this method, it built my
self confidence and helped in improving relationship at work. It also helped me to identify needs
and wants.
360 feedbacks
It is one of the most modern approaches which are used by many people. Under this
process, I receive different feedback from those people who are working in the organization.
This is used as benchmark for making personal development plan.
MBIT analysis
This analysis is related to decision which are taken by people and help to measure
psychological preference of the individuals. It is type of indicator which helps to measure how
people behave and take decision. Through this test, I came to know my own decision power and
communication approaches.
Analysis of own communication style
There are different types of communication styles which can be used by individuals
following are the communication styles area which I need to be improved. .
Verbal communication should be effective so that interaction can be carried out
effectively. I am required to control on my pitch variation and need to make eye contact with
audience. This approach helps to share my views with others in effective manner.
Active listening
Active listening is another approach which I need to use. In this process, I make sure that
I can understand each communication process effectively. For improving this, I need to use
various other techniques such as making short notes during presentation or meetings.
Non verbal
Nonverbal communication includes communicating with people by using signs, language
or other words. In this communication process, it mainly includes use of body language such as
facial gesture.
Assertiveness:

It is one of the most effective communication styles which are used by people. With the
help of this communication styles, I can make my messages more clear.
b) Findings of tools and communication issues
Each communication tools hold different types of findings. For developing own
communication process, I used different types of tools which helped me in improving
interpersonal communication skills following are finding of different tools.
Findings
The findings of the tools are that it helps the individuals to improve their communication
skills with other. With the help of this tool, I can effectively interact with many people. Findings
of Johari window is that it help to improve communication with other people. Communication
styles questionnaire helps to identify which communication styles I need to be preferred.
Assertiveness Questionnaire method assisted me in building my self confidence and relationships
with other. On the other hand, 360 feedback and MBIT analysis helped me to improve my
decision making power .
Key communication issues
In order to develop my own interpersonal communication, I need to identify different
issues which are required to be improved. There are different types of issues which are faced in
my own communication process. Following are key issues which I faced.
Not being Assertive
This is one of the major key issues which I faced during my communication process. I
need to improve my assertive skills so that I can make effective communication with other
people and I am required to take training for improving my assertive skills so that I can make
good relationship with other people.
Lack of active listening
In the communication process, another issue which I faced is lack of active listening as
due to this, I lost many opportunities. To make interpersonal communication process more
effective, active listening is important.

c) Reflection of key communication issues and need for personal development plan
In the last 12 months, I communicated with many people at my workplace. The first
interaction in which in faced problems was in general meeting In that interaction due to lack of
proper listening I was not able to make understand other people's messages.
Another interaction with other people who are working me. Not being Assertive
sometime may create problems and due to this, I cannot make my needs clear. Active listening
and assertive skills both are important skills of communication process. In order to make own
communication plan more effective it is important to overcome with above key issues. By
resolving these issues, I able to develop effective interpersonal communication.
TASK 2 LITERATURE REVIEW
The term communication covered many areas. There are various types of forms of
communication which can be used by individuals for making effective interaction with other
people as according Arnold and Boggs, (2015). Communication refers to exchange of ideas and
theories through which can understand other problems and message cleanly.
In the personal development plan of communication includes different types of area
which need to be considered for making effective interaction with other as according to Berkhof
and et.al., (2011). There are many types of communication forms which can be used by people
for developing communication process. The main forms of the communication process includes
written communication, oral communication and assertiveness. Each individual used different
types of communication styles to make interaction with other As according to Cahn, (2013) .
At work place area there are many individuals who are make successful due to effective skills.
In the present era communication is important skills which need to be develop. In order to
personal development communication is important part which need to be improved. There are
various types of diagnostic tool which can be used by people to improve their communication
skills.
As according to the Greene, (2013) The Johari window is modern tool-used by many
people develop better understanding their relationship with other and themselves. With the help
of this method one can identify its own abilities of interaction with other and helps to develop
understanding with many other people. Four types of elements which are included in this model

Questionnaire. It is set of question which covered different types of styles which are related to
communication and its process. With the helps of this set of question one can identify it styles of
communication with other people as according to Head and Bute, (2017) It helps to develop
potential and ways to improve learning and interaction process. This question are related to the
self awareness and developments of interpersonal skills.
Similar Assertiveness Questionnaire is another diagnostic Tools for communication. This
methods help to individual for improving their my relationships at working area and its

and improve communication and understanding with others as according to Klakovich, (2017) .

key issued which they faced in their communication process. As according to Metts, (2014) this
issued need to be solve in effective manner so they can sen their message to other person clearly.
Interpersonal communication is important to examines social network with other people and
helps to individual for achieving their objectives.
As according to the Myers, (2017) there are different types of behaviors which need to
be improved. Many time people are faced problems related to active listening and assertiveness
skills. Here are many types of problems which rises due to the lack of these skills. Due to lack of
assertiveness they can not make their communication clear and have to face many other type of
problems such as they make commitment but can not fulfill it. Along with this they also face
problems related to good relationship with other people As according to O’Sullivan and Carr,
(2017) . Another issue which faced by many people in their commutation is lack of active

listening. In the present era there are many people who missed many types of business
opportunities due to lack of active listening. It refers to the process to listen to understand other
people message clear. For making interpersonal communication process more effective active
listening is important so individual can make strong relationship with other people. As according
to Punyanunt-Carter, and Arias, (2017) there are certain practices which can be adopted by
individuals to improve their interpersonal communication skills such as to make short note while
listening to other people, pitch variation and make eye contact with other people so interpersonal
communication process. Another methods which is used by individuals is to understand each
other language so this can helps to develop better understanding in the business communication.
As according to Roloff, (2014) requirement of interpersonal communication is helps to
people for making their decision more effective and advanced so they can develop their
exchange their ideas with each other. Interpersonal communication can be divided into two parts
such verbal and non verbal. The verbal communication is related to the use of effective
languages and process and on the other hand non verbal communication process is related to use
of signs and making eye contact with audience so they can understand problems in effectively As
according to Sellnow, (2017) . There are some other area which also need to improved by
individual use of appropriate behavior. In these people have to make learn of those skills which
helps to them for making understanding of the other needs. It is psychological area which need to
make in depth studies and develop ideas to them other people as according to Spitzberg, (2014).
In order to communication which are related to personal development plan there are various area
which need to be improved which mainly includes verbal, non verbal, active listening and
assertiveness. By improving those areas one can make their interpersonal communication more
effective and advanced.

To make effective communication with other people and improve the interpersonal skills.
With the help of the personal development plan they individuals can make their own
development plan more effective and appropriate. There are various types of skills which I need
to make improvement so I can make my communication more improved and advanced.

leaned how to writes message more clear and effective . To improve this skill I need to attend
classes. In that I can learn to make communication with other people and also I need 2 months to
improve this skill. The next skills which I need to improve is active skills. In this skill in learned
to way to make my listening power more strong so I can understand others message more clearly
and way in which he wants to send the message. The last skills which I need to be improved is
oral communication which mainly includes use of different types of techniques to make clear
communication. This skill generally includes to make development of eye contact and improve
the communication for this I can take classes or talk with other people and receive feedback
from them to make improvement of my skills.
