Semiotic analysis Semiotic analysis is defined as the discipline in which natural phenomenon, culture andsociety through means of signs. These signs may include images, letters, objects, gestures as wellas actions. The aim of semiotic analysis is to interpret and understand the meaning of signs andto evaluate the qualitative meaning resulting from semiotic concepts. The above album cover promotes the new album of Lady Gaga named “Joanne”. Thecover signifies the confident and experimental image of Lady Gaga. The idea evokes the feelingof unique fashion sense, reinvention in appearance as well as sense of rebel in portraying aconfident woman. In the given cover page images and words are used to describe meaning. Byusing the words “Lady Gaga/Joanne” a constructive meaning is provided by the signer throughconcept of intertextuality. The use of pink hat image gives a deep narrative meaning which is well associated withthe personality and conceptions regarding Lady Gaga. The singer seems to be restrained from thesoft colours such as pink, however through this album cover her lover for pink colour hats hasbeen demonstrated. It signifies the strong opinion over the change and to confidently put forwardthe views on personal choices and preferences.
