Introduction: Servant leadership
In the recent time, employee engagement has become essential in the organisation. Without
the effective engagement of employees, it is not possible for the organisation to achieve
success and growth. The most essential aspect of running a business is to choose the effective
leadership model. If leaders help the employees by motivating them for the better result, they
always try to work hard. Servant leadership also assist the organisation in making its
employees happy at the workplace.
Analysis
The core leadership behaviour of servant leaders are as follows: emotional healing, putting
the followers first always, conceptualizing, helping its followers to succeed and grow,
behaving ethically, as well as creating the value for society. Conceptualisation means better
understanding regarding the organisation that further allows the leader to properly find the
solutions of the problem as per the goals of organisation. Emotional healing means being
helpful for the well being of other people and resolve their problems. Servant leader also put
its followers always first that further assist them in bringing the better result for the
organisation. In the recent time, it is also essential for the leaders to intentionally give better
results to the community (Spears and Lawrence, 2016).
Different leadership styles are being used in the organisation. The first leader is the visionary
leader who has the capability to drive the progress. I have seen that several organisations are
successful due to the clear vision. Companies due to lack of clear vision sometimes do not
able to get success. It is done by Inspiring employees for bringing the new ideas. Servant
leaders on the other hand believe that when members of the organisation enjoy personally and
professionally, they proved to be more effective for the organisation. These types of leader
also likely to produce the better results for the organisation. Autocratic type of leader is such
leader only gives emphasis on the results. They follow the strict guidelines by putting the
great deal of supervision. In the recent time, employees want the organisation where they feel
productive and valuable. I come across the organisation where strict procedure is followed.
As a result of this, employees become frustrated and irritated. Laissez Faire leadership is that
leadership style that give emphasis mostly on assigning the task to team members by

providing very less or no supervision to the employees. When team members are mostly
experiences, managers adopt this type of leadership style. As compare to the autocratic
leader, democratic leaders ask for the input from the employees as well as consider the
feedback. Transformation leadership is quite similar to the coach style who gives emphasis
on the goal setting, clear communication, as well as motivation of employees. It does give
more emphasis on the individual goals. It directly gives focus on the whole organisational
goals (Choi, Kim and Kang, 2017). As compare to this, transactional leader is the one who
established the pre-determined rewards in the form of monetary as well as non-monetary
form (Yahaya and Ebrahim, 2016).
By following the different significant principles, servant leader is likely to contribute best to
the organisation. The first principle is listening. By making the strong commitment to listen
effectively, servant leader helps the organisation as well as individual. The second principle is
empathy. Under this principle, it strives to empathize and ensure the understanding with
others. It believes that accepting and recognising people for their creativity is essential.
Healing is the best principle that is achieved through the mentoring, coaching, discussion as
well as relationship oriented leadership styles. Awareness is the major principle of servant
leadership (Chiniara and Bentein, 2016). it is the most common trait found among the servant
leader. it states that the understanding of the weaknesses, strengths as well as development
areas is crucial for the success of organisation. The next principle is persuasion that states that
the servant leaders rely more on the cooperation as compare to the delegation and authority.
Besides this, servant leaders also have the capability to look after the problems in perspective
of the concepts. Foresight is also one such feature that enables the servant leaders to
understand the lessons from the realities of current time, past as well as the outcomes that can
come in the future. Servant leaders also believe that the people have some kind of intrinsic
value beyond their work. They also have some kind of deep commitment to the professional
as well as personal growth of every individual who are working in the organisation. the last
principle of the servant leadership is building of the community. Maintaining as well as
developing the effective community is significant to the servant leadership (Donia, Raja,
Panaccio and Wang, 2016).
Servant leadership has numerous goals as well as goals. Among those goals, the major goal
of servant leadership is to encourage the good or better of subordinates rather than achieve
