INTRODUCTION
Every person has fundamental rights and right to freedom is one of them. UK
government has taken many initiatives to protect rights of people in the country. In order to
improve health care experiences of patient authorities are ensuring that people get respect,
protection in the hospitals. It is essential to maintain equality in order to provide great care
facilities to patients in hospitals (Wronka, 2016).
Present study is based on case of Dora and Simon, they are married old age couple.
Dora is suffering from Alzheimer and Simon is unable to take care of her hence she has been
shifted to nursing home and it is decided by both that Dora will visit her regularly. But
hospital staff wants to shift Dora to permanent nursing home which is far away from his home.
Current assignment will explain rights of Dora and Simon. Issue related to case study will be
explained and discussion will be done on right of person in health care service.
DESCRIPTION
Right to informed consent is the principle that states that medical professionals have to
take consent of patient before taking any action for them. In the case doctors of nursing home
need to ask whether Dora wants to get shifted in permanent nursing home or not. If she is not
ready for the same then medical professionals need not to pressurize her. In case of Dora and
Simon those who are married aliveness of 59 years, in-spites of having blindness all over her
life make a level of undesirability towards their relationship. Recently Dora has developed
Alzheimer and on other hand Simon have already made an injury from fall at home which
makes Simon unable to take care of beloved wife in more appropriate manner. This is
considered to great issues for him to take care of her wife, so Dora has been shifted towards
locally funded nursing home which is nearby. Simon's and his children went for regular visit
to meet her wife. But the locally funded authority have taken decision to have shifting of Dora
permanently into another care home which considered to be variety far for Simon to meet his
wife at this age of life.
If she does not want to go to far location then doctors need not to pressurize her to
shift. This must be taken care by professionals that dignity and respect of person remain
maintained.
