1HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE MANAGEMENT
In this section the presentation on “Resourcing Services and Social Enterprise in Health
and Social Care” will be critically evaluated. It is important aspect as it will help the author to
understand the strength and weaknesses of his or her writing skills and the areas in which
improvement is required to make the presentation more authentic and presentable (Aitchison
2012). In this section, areas such as the organization, shining light that serves the patients with
prostate cancer, their history, their objectives and relative outputs or outcomes will be reviewed.
Further, organizational structure, partner organizations, legal structures, funding system, their
advantages disadvantages with SWOT and PEST analysis will be discussed. Finally, the
recommendations proposed by the author in the presentation will be evaluated and their
authenticity will be discussed in this critical review.
The introduction section of Shining Light organization has been presented in the
presentation as an organization located in Brent and deals with people aged 35 to 60 of afro
Caribbean origin and having prostate cancer. Further the author mentioned the activities that are
carried out within the organization such as providing advice and guidance, testing and screening
process and prostate cancer related awareness (Nicolini 2012). However, This introduction is
incomplete as the background of the organization, the experience it has in serving people
affected with prostate cancer were not mentioned. Incorporating these data would provide the
organization a strong foundation depending on which the presentation would become authentic.
However, the goals, and objectives were specifically presented as a specific goal that enhances
the clarity of the presentation and provided a clear idea that the organization specifically serves
for people of afro Caribbean origin (Aitchison 2012).

Further, while discussing the output and outcomes of the organization, a frame of three
years were chosen and depending on that the organizations 3 years outcome will be spreading the
awareness related to prostate cancer in the specific community and their screening and testing
will be done as well as the outputs decided the number of patient affected with cancer will be
treated, and registered to the organization for detailed care. Therefore, these two sections
provided an estimated future goal for the organization, hence enhances the credibility of the
assignment. However, the writer forget to include a concrete demographic of the location where
this organization was located. The presentation included the total population of the Brent but did
not included the figures of Afro Caribbean population hence, the presentation lacked the total
and detailed information regarding the target population.
The presentation also included organizational structure and partner organization, which
was not necessary as the presentation is related to the services the social enterprise provide to a
specific group of the locality. Hence, the structure of the organization helped to understand the
decision making people of the organization but was not necessary in the assignment. On the
other hand, partner organization helps to understand the policy, legislation and financial
compliance the organization has while serving for the people affected with prostate cancer.
Besides these, the legal policies and frameworks that the organization follows for patient
registration and care was mentioned and in another table the funding and donation the
organization receives were mentioned in three categories. This was one of the strong aspects of
the presentation as it was able to demonstrate the complete funding system and legislation
system easily (Tang et al. 2012). The cash flow of three consecutive years, net profit and the
running cost of the organized was mentioned. These sections were also provided information
related to the business and the profit margin the organization had.

3HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE MANAGEMENT
While discussing the SWOT and PEST analysis, the presentation mentioned about
updated tools and technologies so that prostate cancer patients can be served better. However, it
lacked any such example of undated tools. As well as in opportunity section, it focuses on
including wider range of disease over time and primarily focused on strategies so that maximum
funding can be earned. In weakness the organization accepted the fact that it was unable to
provide a cumulative protection to people affected with prostate cancer. Further it determined
organization having similar goals as it’s threats. Therefor in this section, the writer contradicted
its own statements as using same statement for both opportunity and threat as organization
having same goals, provided those funding and become threat for their own service (Goetsch and
Davis 2014). Therefore, the authenticity of the presentation is hampered in this SWOT analysis.
Similarly in PEST analysis the presentation presented all the political economic, social and
technological aspect properly. However, for the advertisement purposes the organization was
dependent on social media and leaflets instead of banners and television advertisements.
Therefore it was not properly discussed as the reason related to this prospect was not mentioned.
Further in the recommendation section, the presentation, recommended to conduct surveys so
that the patients with prostate cancers can be identified easily (van Wijngaarden, Scholten and
van Wijk 2012). Besides this, the organization recommended to conduct healthcare campaigns
and awareness campaigns. However, according to (), to spread awareness it is important that the
organization reaches to each section of the society, whereas the organization confined its reach to
only afro Caribbean community. Hence, the recommendation should be included depending on
the entire society instead of a specific community (Richards et al. 2015).
Therefore, in the conclusion of this critical discussion, it should be mentioned that the
presentation was able to convey the message it was proposed to however, it was very much

descriptive and few section were not necessary to present the main idea of the presentation.
Further, the presentation did not included details related to the organization, the target population
and also lacked a proper SWOT analysis. However, several string aspects of the presentation
include clear objective and aims, tables that represented the funding process, the sponsors or
partners of the organization and the time when the cash flow of the organization increases or
decreases. Therefore, the overall presentation was descriptive.
