To achieve economies of scale and to keep freight costs competitive, shipping lines are investing in bigger-sized vehicles (mega-ships) with capacities up to 25,000 TEU.

Currently, the Singapore port has limited land availability, and docking a larger ship increase These problems are likely to be resolved once the Tuas Mega Port project is completed as it will boost its capacity to 65 TEU and make handling cargo operations more efficient port congestion and turnaround times for all vessels.
Digital challenge Another challenge for Singapore port is to gear up its digital infrastructure to support its ‘smart port’ vision. Once it becomes fully automated, it will require vessels to schedule their call before they dock to reduce turnaround times. Thus, one of its basic needs is to provide 4G@Sea internet connectivity to all stakeholders (ship liners, freight forwarders, feeders, etc.) with low-cost and reliable internet in port waters up to 15 km from the shore.
CONCLUSION It has been concluded there are different challenges faced at Singapore port which are need to be managed by government. Also, training given to employees so that they update according to news technology and work in efficient manner. For digitalization network should be changed in order to maintain the flow of connectivity at the port.
