Management and leadership skills
Management and leadership skills are essential for managing effective term of the
services and facilities within the business. Leaders will follows suitable course of the vision that
can be attained and communicate this to others and develop effective term of the tactics for
managing their visions and as well as mission. I got encouraged with the mode to motivate
another respective as well by which I have followed my plan of actions for realizing my vision
and as well as mission. This is the ability of leading the group of respective and holding them
effectively. I am very fond of making respective to listen me and creating such abilities that can
support in efficiently make several respective to follows my directions. By this, I can also
manages the respective at lower authorities than me in my future management together and it can
supports me in developing my and my group productivity.
According to me the skills that plays an essential factor for the respective is
communication abilities. According to the abilities, it will allows the respective to transfer my
orientated thoughts, emotions in which it manages other individual and ensure the manner
effectively to complete in respect to manage it. It has been determined that such skills plays
suitable role for my growth. As there are various term of the leadership aspects and skills in the
business that are effectively encourage an individual to satisfy needs and wants. As there are
several sort of the skills for the leaders are as follows - Emotional Intelligence – Under this section, I follows suitable section of skills like
emotional intelligence that is the skill in which as a leader I should understand and
control my reactions in suitable manner and also to maintain effective relationship with
others in a suitable course of the way. Communication Skills – Under this division, as a strong leader, I can efficiently
communicate and manage mine and as well as team members visions and missions. But
more than it, they should be capable to adjust and manages their communications suitably
for wider area of conditions as across to the cultural aspects in the field of the area.

 Delegation – Under this section, I have noticed that the leaders who struggle to assign are
effectively to have difficulties in time meetings their divisional productivity targets and
offering their higher quality performance roles. But more than it, they can also
demotivate their workers. Efficient and as well as potential leaders will determine the
right group members to manages their certain task and make sure that they have the
knowledge and techniques they hold to get the job done in an effective and efficient
manner. Motivating Others – An encouraged group is a productive group. But on the other hand,
their drivers of the motivation are effectively personal in the field of the area. As I am
enough capable to determine what encourage every members of their group in which they
have opportunities for the development. By utilising such knowledge to manage the
entertainment of the management I should apply several sort of the plan of actions to treat
the workers with respect and fairness that is the power of the motivator in the business of
the management.
 Strategic Thinking – As the today's market place is changing dynamically, from users
desires to up - gradation terms of the technology. I need to become enough capable to see
the big image and think strategically to lead their groups to the success. In relation to it,
there are several strategical thinking that involves higher term of the skills to manage
their conditions, circumstances, maintains realistic targets and create strategies to reach
our effective base of customers. Strategical thinkers can adopt to changing several
courses of the issues and communicate their significance to their group and my own
terms of the leadership skills in an effective and as well as efficient manner.
Kolb's Four stages learning model Concrete Experience – In a concrete experience, every learner involves with an action or
the task. Kolb engaged that the fundamental term of the learning is involved. Reflective Observation - Communication at this level it significant that will enables the
leaders to determine any disagreement among their understanding and experiences in the
business of management. Abstract Conceptualization - This include the communication of experience and
comparing with their present understanding on the framework.

 Active Experimentation - They are capable to make predictions, measure tasks, and
create programs for the acquired knowledge for furthermore terms. By enabling the
leaders to put their knowledge into exercise and viewing how it is applicable to their
management.

A skill may be defined as a learned ability to perform an action with determined results
effectively in execution or performance. In different organization, the employer needs various
types of skills which are needed in all types of jobs(Daft, 2020). A skill may be gained by a
taking short or long training sessions. In some organisation it is mandatory to have a particular
skill in order to work for a particular job. Tesco is a British multinational groceries retailer
company headquartered in Welwyn garden city. It was incorporated in 1919 by Jack Cohen. It
provides training sessions to the new employees so that they can be aware about the work
assigned to them as well as about the rules and regulations.
Following are the skills which the company focus on:
Supportive communication

The company seeks to maintain a positive relationship between the two person while
addressing a problem. It consist of some specific style of communicating that has a set of goals
and techniques. It is used in various types of interpersonal interactions and helps in more
effective communication. It emphasizes on the problem and on its potential solutions or possible
changes. The model that Tesco is using Shannon and Weaver Model of Communication. It is
considered as a mathematical theory of communication that states that human communication
can be broken into 6 key concepts: sender, encoder, channel, noise, decoder and receiver. It was
founded as the best method in supportive communication as the message can be conveyed in a
short span of time to the target person. It is much cheaper than other models of communication
as there is no decentralisation model in transmitting the message.
Motivation
Motivation is a a force, filled with great energy and enthusiasm which pushes people to
work with high commitment and focus to achieve desired goals. It is the study that defines what
drives the person to work for a specific goal. There are certain forces that directs our motivation.
It is necessary that every team member in the organization is motivated(Psomas and Antony,
2017). The company is using Maslow's theory of motivation. This theory was propounded by
Abraham Maslow in 1943. It states that a person will be motivated when all his needs are
fulfilled. He created a pyramid that demonstrate all the needs of a human in a hierarchical way.
A person cannot ascend to the upper level unless the lower level needs are fulfilled. In order to
motivate the employees I will ensure that all the levels of needs should be fulfilled so that the
employees can be satisfied with his job. Along with, some remuneration or any financial rewards
should be provided to the employees who have contributed towards the fulfilment of
organisational goals. The company wants to retain the employees by fulfilling their needs so that
they not get demotivated and can give their full potential. Maslow theory consist of 5 hierarchy
needs that are mentioned below:
 Psychological needs-It consist of all the basic needs that are needed for the survival
such as food, water, air, water and clothing.
 Safety needs-Protection from danger, threat and deprivation such as financial security,
job security and safety against accidents and injury.
 Social needs- It refers to the sense and needs of belongings so that a human do not feel
alone or depressed. Social needs can be fulfilled by friendship and family.

 Self esteemed needs-This theory is based on appreciation and respect. People have a
tendency to accomplish things and needed to be recognised their efforts. It plays a
prominent role in motivating behaviour.
 Self Actualization Needs-This need focus on self awareness,elevates personal growth
and interested in accomplishing their potential. It may be defined as the full use of one'
potential,capabilities and talents.
The manager has followed the hierarchy theory in order to satisfy the employees by securing
their safety needs regarding their job and also appreciates the extraordinary employees for their
performance. It also contributes in personal development growth of an individual.
Empowerment
It means people have the power to control their own lives and they get the support is right
for them. It simply means that people are equal citizens and they are respected and confident in
their communities(Liebowitz,, 2019). For business, employees empowerment means to allowing
the employees to contribute more for the running the business in an effective manner. It increases
the sense of responsibility and also leads to enhance their morale & improves the quality of
work. It is the aspects which ensures the better working within the organisation so that they can
rightly ensures the positive working and results to the company. In context to Tesco, there are
basically four types of empowerment which are explained as follows:
 Social empowerment: It is defined as the process of developing a sense of autonomy and
self-confidence and they collectively make social change relationships and discourses
which includes the negative working environment. In relation to Tesco, when the
employees are making favourable relationship within the organisation then it leads to
have the higher growth in the market so that they can sustain in the market for long
period of time.
 Economic empowerment: It is the capacity of men and women to work in and
contribute from the growth processes in such a way so that they can recognise the value
of this contributions, dignity and respect and also ensures to negotiate a fairer distribution
of the benefits of growth in the market. In context to Tesco, it is the given capacity which
they are ensuring for given the equal employment opportunities to employees by which
they can establish the fair fair working to them.
Benefits and challenges of using empowerment:

Benefits:
 It helps in motivating the employees by which they work in more effective manner to
attain its desired goal.
 This also leads to improve the creativity of the employees and leads to get better results
to them(Employee Empowerment: Definition, Benefits, and Factors, 2020).
Challenges
 Empowerment leads to have the inadequate solution for the specific job role as tit is the
overall which ensures the entire development of the employees.
 Change in the regulatory bodies within the company tends to be the challenge for human
resource manager.
Conflict Management
It is the process of limiting the negative factors of conflicts while increasing the positive
aspects of conflicts. The main concern is to enhance the learning and the group outcome that also
includes the effectiveness of performance within the organisation. In context to Tesco, there are
certain styles of conflict management which are illustrate below:
 Competing: It is the style in which the company refuse to see the prospective of other
party and they are keep pushing the point of view of others and keep rejecting their ideas
until they get their own way(Rugman and Douglas, 2018). This style is being used by the
Tesco who stand up for their rights and morals.
 Collaborating: It is the conflict management style in which the individual finds the
solution that can meet the needs of all the parties. This style is effective when the
multiple perspectives need to be analysed by Tesco. It is the major consideration which
ensures multiple stakeholders must be represented.
 Compromise: It is the style which is being used by the people who are looking for the
solution rather than for the great solution so that they can manage the particular problem
and solve them in an appropriate manner.
 Avoiding: In this, the individual or the firm avoid confit by pursue their brief nor get
involved in such things so that they can avoid the conflicts which occurs in the operations
of Tesco.

 Accommodating: It is the style in which the company in which people care less about
the issue than the other and want to keep the peace and also feel like, the individual have
no choice but agree to the other's point of view.
Team Effectiveness
It is the capacity of the group of people with integrated set of skills, work together to
attain the goal which is being set by the leader of the team. This helps in reaching to the desired
goal in an effective manner. In context to Tesco, there are certain roles of Belbin model which
are explained as follows -
 Resource investigator: It is the role which is associated with the people who find it easy
to build contacts and get what they need from other people(Jackson, 2019).
 Teamwork: It helps in helping the colleagues to overcome the differences and leads to
avoid the conflicts while they are heading to the definite goal. The mission is to create the
supportive work so that all the employees can each to their high efficiency.
 Plant: In this role, people produce the original ideas for the benefit of team and who ate
typically introverted usually preferring to work alone when they are developing new
ideas and solutions for the same.
Tesco is using such Belbin role of team working so that they ensures the better working
within the organisation and reach to the higher level of profitability.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it is concluded that skills are defied as the quality of the
individual for their better working in order to attains the overall functionality of the business.
There are skills such as supportive communication which help the people to get the right
information in order to get better results and with the help of motivation, employees get
influenced to work in right direction in order to attain better results to them. Moreover, conflict
management and team effectiveness are the skills which ensures the better working of the people
so that they can work in the right direction.
