INTRODUCTION
Higher education is considered as one of the important task that help the students to get
better learning in their course. By having the different skills it helps the student to get good
learning and helps them to grow. As the higher education is taken from the post secondary
institutions or universities of learning so this used to require better skills. The current essay will
outline the various skills which must be developed by the students at the university. Further this
report will also put focus on the importance of having the skills at the workplace.

There are some skills that helps them to convey the messages and ideas in the best
manner. The soft skills must be developed by the students that helps them to grow while having
learning in the university (Hamilton and Davison, 2018). These skills used to handle the adverse
situations which is most required in the present days. The skills that must be developed by the
students and its importance in the workplace is as described below:
1. Problem solving skills: It is considered as one of the most important skill which
must be developed by the universities students. This helps them to solve the
problem whenever they get stuck in any situation. By having the problem solving
skills it helps the students to have control on their situations that may get out of
the hand. This skill used to come up with the solutions in the different situations.
Improving this skill is very crucial for the students as this will help them to solve
the problem in their future if they were doing any job in the organization. Further
it is very important for the students to know about this skill as it is the uncertain
world as problems can arise any time (Jackson, Fleming and Rowe, 2019). There
must be proper plan for them to have proper solutions of the problems. This used
to provide them the experience related to every problem faced by them and thus it
will help them to have better working in the organization. As problem based
thinking is considered as one of the most complex situation that must be improved
by the student to perform better in the market. This can be improved by having
the knowledge from the different areas and put them accordingly to get the best
solution.

2. Creative thinking skills: This skill used to help the person to get the things start
from the new perspective by measuring the different angles. The students must
have ability to something new as this will helps them to solve the problem on the
constant basis. By building the creative skills it helps the students to do
innovation in the life (Fleming, Rowe and Jackson, 2021). By this it will be
helpful for them to better working in their workplace. In order to have creation
there must be high level of creativity skills that increases the level of knowledge
and have healthy creations in the workplace. By having the creativity the person
will be doing something creative and this helps them to grow in the market. If the
student have to develop this skill, so they must cherish themselves and find the
new strategies which makes them to solve the problems and tasks. Students
having learning in the university must have the creative approach that helps them
to understand the things in the better way and come up with the best answers in
any critical situations. By having the new idea and creation this makes them to get
better education and thus they can perform better in their future life. As in the
rapid changing world it is very important for the employers and employees to
have the creative thinking and by this the organization improves.
3. Team working skill: Team working skill is the most required skill that is
required at every stage of the career. By working together it used to produce more
and have better learning in their life. The students taking education in the
university must know about the importance of equity which makes them to
develop such skill. As in the workplace the people used to work together so it is
very important for the people to learn and develop such skill which makes them to
do work faster (Jacobs and Karpova, 2022). This improves the productivity of the
company and helps the person and organization to grow at the faster rate. It is
very important to develop the cooperation skills by having the healthy
communication and better conflict resolution in the company. By working
together it used it has better exchange of the ideas and increases the knowledge of
the students while learning in the universities. As in the modern time people used
to prefer to do work in the team as it becomes easy and faster to complete the

work. This helps the leaders to make the team accordingly in the workplace and
divide the work according to the working of the employees.
4. Intra personal skills: This type of skills used to help and understand ourselves
which includes the emotional intelligence. The person must have the thoughts,
beliefs and opinions of their own which is basically known as the intra personal
skills. These type of skills usually helps the students to become the best leaders in
their role in which they are learning. By this the students used to develop more
knowledge and thus make the better decisions in their life. The person must try to
understand themselves strongly by this it will help them to have better
understanding with others (Schmidt and Heidenreich, 2018). The students by
developing these skills will have them to work on the certain tasks and by this
they will be know about their strengths and weaknesses. This skill is very helpful
in the workplace as this makes the person to know about the things which are not
working goods and by this it can be improved in the better way. Working as the
employee will make them to work on the different tasks and all such tasks will
help them to overcome from their weakness.
5. Leadership skills: Having learning as the student or working as the professional
this is considered as one of the most important skill. It is basically the basic skill
that must be developed by the students to have better communication with
everyone in the market. By this it helps to know about the things that are
important to understand as some people used to have soft behaviour and some are
aggressive in nature (Apanasionok, Watkins and Paris, 2019.). For the students
the leadership skill is very important and helpful as this helps them to develop
different areas in their learning. Most of the student's career is basically dependent
on taking the leadership in the market. One has to be leader in the workplace so
this skill is helpful for the students that must be developed by them in their
learning. Leadership skill is an important skill so it is very crucial for the students
and students will have better career. By this it helps them to make the better
decisions and majority of the people will have better learning from this.
6. Decision-making skills: The students in the university must learn how to make
the better decisions in their life. By doing this it will make them to take stand and

make their own decisions to have better career. By deciding the best it helps the
company as well-to-do better and have the better productivity in the market. The
workplace must have the good teams which helps them to make the best
decisions. By deciding the stream to pick and do the best circular activities which
makes them to have increase in the decision- making skills (Khan, 2019). The
people or employee must choose the bets teams which helps them to have
development in their personality. The students must have the well- developed and
critical thinking skills that helps them to have the best ideas to make the better
decisions. This used to create the possibilities in order to have the best process of
doing the things well.
7. Communication skills: Communication skills are very essential for an individual
for its personal and professional development. Communication skills enable them
to develop and maintain strong relationship with others. This skill is required for
developing a career in corporate world as an individual must have effective
communication skill to get job in any sector or field. This helps in easy interaction
with employees and other people at workplace and helps in smooth functioning of
business (Coffelt, Grauman and Smith, 2019). For example, HR personnel with
effective communication skill will be able to interact with their employees, build
strong relationship and resolve problems of employees. There are various
communication skills that are important at workplace. The very first skill is
listening skill as worst communication happens when one doesn't have active
listening skills. This helps an individual to listen problems of others and take
effective actions.
The next skill is empathy, in an organization manager is required to listen to problems of
employees understand the same and empathize with them. This helps in taking appropriate
measures as one can be able to themselves in other's shoes. Patience is also essential at
workplace along with empathy which helps in calm communication. A person with positive
attitude towards work and people will be able to build a strong and effective relationship with
others which can help in effective personal development and help organization to improve its
productivity (Efrat, 2022). A leader with effective communication skill will be able to boost
morale and performance of its followers or employees which will ultimately result into retention

of skilled employees and reduction of cost for hiring employees. Effective listening skill led to
effective decision-making skills as one with active listening will be able to take decision
accordingly and will be able to communicate with others with clarity.
8. Adaptability skills: Adaptability refers to ability of individual to quickly respond to
unexpected changes. It is important for individual to have adaptability skill as the environment of
business is dynamic. To have an adaptive skill makes individual competitive job candidate and
strong professional. This refers to that one is willing to learn new things and have ability to take
challenges. This also enable one to develop other skills such as communication skills, leadership
skills, interpersonal skills, etc. Developing adaptability skills provides workplace and employees
numerous of benefits which can be applied at various situations (Sulam, Syakur and Musyarofah,
2019). The most obvious benefit of having adaptability skill is that one will be able to set an
example for others and motivate others to accept changes. As a leader it is very essential to have
this skill to motivate employees to adapt the changes that incurred within workplace which can
be beneficial for business as well as for individual development. Ultimately, this help business to
stay competitive under changing environment and take correct measures to overcome challenges
that are faced due to changes. Adaptability skill helps an individual in making appropriate
decisions that will be beneficial for individual and business. To develop this skill in University
will help students to remain competitive in any situation and learn new thing which will be
beneficial in development of their career and also advantageous for organization.
