Slide 1: Title slide. Slide 2: Hello, my name is ....and my id is.... Here it is the first slide of my presentation and its main objective is to analyze a common health issue which is one of the greatest concerns for the healthcare industry from all over the world. I will use clinical reasoning cycle as a principle of nursing medical. A case study will be considered in this regard. After identifying the issues, some nursing interventions will be discussed along with its rationale. The presentation will also clearly demonstrate the pathophysiology as well as the clinical manifestations associated with the specific health issue identified. Slide 3: From the different health complications, the current identified complication is obesity. Several studies in this regard identified that 63.4% people adults of Australia are suffering from obesity related issues. Here, in the case study, the lifestyle of Mr. Joni is unhealthy due to his alcohol consumption, smoking habit and inappropriate diet plan. At the same time, he has a history of hypertension, gout, as well as acute myocardial infarction in the year 2016. Simultaneously, he has moderate obstructive sleep apnoea for which he requires CPAP for overnight sleep. Again, the inappropriate height and weight ratio of Mr. Joni clearly indicates excessive abdominal fat evident. Slide 4: Generally, obesity occurs when there is an imbalance between the daily calorie intake and the energy expenditure. This condition produces inappropriate expansion of the adipose organ which is the cause of progressive hyper-production of adipokines. It also results in the production of inflammatory cytokines. Again, the clinical manifestations of obesity include obstructive sleep apnoea, hypertension, overweight, cardiovascular diseases and many others. In this case study, Mr. Joni suffers from several complications like hypertension, OSA, overweight and others. Here, in this slide a flowchart image is shown which clearly depicts

how imbalance in energy expenditure and calorie intake can contribute to the occurrence of obesity. Slide 5: Obesity not only shows external affects but also hampers the functions of several organs and system. It has been found in the pathophysiology of obesity that metabolic dysfunction can be found due to obesity which leads to ischemic stroke and a study in this regard revealed that 1.86 persons per 1000 people with obesity, suffers from ischemic stroke. Also, on a broader scale, obesity contributes to the multiple organ dysfunction as well as failure. A study, conducted in the year 2015 clearly demonstrated that more than 600 million adults around the world suffer from the affects of obesity. The case study of Mr. Joni shows his multiple symptoms that are sufficient enough in establishing the fact that he is suffering from obesity related issues. Slide 6: In order to integrate the appropriate nursing interventions for specific health issue, it is necessary to establish the goals and here in this slide, the goals have been clearly discussed. The prime goal of the nursing interventions would be to improve the health condition of Mr. Joni and in this purpose, the goals of the interventions has been set after having a clear consultation with Mr. Joni. It will be a goal for Mr. Joni to reduce 7-8 kilograms of his weight within next sixth months of the intervention approaches. He will also reduce the amount of alcohol consumption and cigarette intake. Slide 7: This slide represents the interventions for Mr. Joni. First of all, it is important to review the individual cause of obesity and reviewing the daily dietary habit of Mr. Joni. This intervention will be helpful in focusing on the realistic picture of the imbalance between the amount of energy expenditure and calorie intake. Secondly, it will be necessary to formulate a dietary plan as per the age, gender, height as well as weight of the patient. This nursing intervention will be helpful in ensuring the adequate amount of protein as well as low fat intake which is necessary for weight management. Slide 8:
This slide represents another nursing intervention which is extremely effective in obesity. Encouraging the patient in some regular exercises as per his age and physical health condition will be helpful to lose excessive fat from the body and at the same time, proper exercises can provide some relief to a person who is living a stressful life. Also, it is highly essential to keep records of the exercises which will help in tracking the intensity and the duration of the activities. Here, in this slide, an image is shown that illustrates how a flat stomach can be achieved with some easy exercises at home. Slide 9: Reducing the smoking habit and alcohol consumption was another goal and educating the patients about the harmful effects of these two adverse practices will be an important nursing intervention for Mr. Joni. In this regard, showing some relevant images as evidence that reflects the conditions of affected patients will be helpful. Again, in order to provide some additional emotional support to the patient it is important for the nurses to encourage them in some social activities. If the patient will be engaged in some easy stress-free social activities then it will help him to be relaxed as well as socialized. Slide 10: Here, we have come to the conclusion section. After the analysis of this presentation it is quite clear that obesity is common but a leading health concern for the healthcare providers from all over the world. In this case study, Mr. Joni is suffering from multiple health disorders from which obesity is quite concerning and his other health conditions contributes more in worsening obesity. However, it was a knowledge gaining experience for me, and I learned that with proper goals as well as nursing interventions, it is possible to achieve a better health outcome among the obese people, managing the weight.
