1. Problem Domain and Research Questions
1.1 Identification of Research Problem
The research focuses over the project based on designing a smart fish
underwater device that would be helpful for detecting fishes in an efficient manner.
The recent development of wireless sensors and various kind of applications have
helped in wildlife monitoring, surveillance and other activities. However, with the
proliferation of such advanced wireless sensor networks, it has also raised some
form of serious concerns in relation to surveillance of fishes and other creatures in
the underwater regions [2]. The design approaches for the sensors and their use
within underwater is a serious concern that needs to be addressed. An efficient
algorithmic technique would be able to detect the fishes within a short span of time.
The problem that would be proposed and further discussed in the paper is
based on the essential problem based on performing active sensing and control
over coverage. The practice of active sensing and cooperative control would only be
performed the involvement of multiple kinds of controllable agents [1]. They
primarily cooperate towards achieving a common objective. With the development
of a smart fish underwater device, an efficient coverage control algorithm would
also be need to be designed that would help in understanding the areas in which
there is a maximum density of fishes. Thus, the development of an efficient
algorithm that would be able to detect the maximum exposure of fishes in a certain
region is a difficult area to explore [4]. The enhancement of the coverage for a
sensor-defined network within the algorithm is a matter of concern.
Another major problem that would be faced during the conduction of the
research based on designing a smart fish underwater device is to define the
tracking system for measuring specific targets. These targets would be need to be
covered with the help of inbuilt mobile sensors. The incorporation of Kalman filter
within the smart device would also be a matter of problem based on processing of
observations and thus the generation of certain estimates. A most certain problem
in this aspect is based on considering the limited range for the communication of
sensors [3]. The other problem is focused over optimizing the distance based on the
sensor movement. The other problems that might be faced during the performing of
