SOCIAL AND PROFESSIONAL ISSUES
1. Introduction
The topic will provide an analysis and review of the case study considering the social and
professional issues associated with it. The report includes various ethical as well as
questionable circumstances that are associated with the emergence of ethical issues and
dilemmas. The ethical decision model can be a major consideration in this topic, which can
allow for shaping the behaviours of people and at the same time, facilitate the management of
individual actions undertaken. The topic illustrates about the social and professional issues
related to the development of a new marketing database, also known as the Reaper. It is
developed with the aim of managing an integrated demographic database with a web front
end that can accumulate information about the individuals who are allowed to enter the
contests with the purpose of gaining rewards and incentives like winning holiday trip to Fiji
or even free two nights stay at some holiday locations, winning a car, etc. The topic also
consists of information about selection of Sophie Ryder, as a self-employed IT Development
consultant by Firestone to integrate the web based technologies with the existing database
and manage information storage and retrieval about nearly 350000 people (Noe et al., 2017).
From the analysis if case study, it is also found that after the meeting has been conducted
with the Richard Blaine, co-founder of Firestone and Alex McLaren, the executive in charge
of the project, Sophie has been assigned with the task of providing technical consultancy and
develop a new marketing database for storing information about the individuals who enter the
competitions to win some prize or rewards.
2. Analysis

Factor 1 - Disclosure agreement

SOCIAL AND PROFESSIONAL ISSUES
While managing recruitment and selection of Sophie, there has been a contract of
engagement where the terms of payment are agreed upon and thus she signed a Non-
disclosure agreement to ensure that any confidential information about the company or about
the project are not disclosed to outside people without any legal and authentic permission.
Factor 2 - Gathering personal information of individuals
This kind of legal factor has raised the chances of issues related to the informed
consent. Richard and Alex were more focused on gathering information about the, especially
their personal details without making them informed about the uses of those for commercial
purposes. The workers were less concerned about the informed consent, which also could be
a major legal flaw, as found from the case study (Epstein, 2018).
Factor 3 - Connection of Moral Guardians in criminal activities
There were police investigations that found about the beating of gay men in the area of
Brisbane by Moral Guidelines of Australia, while a raid done to investigate some criminal
cases also proved the involvement of Firestone. There has been disclosure of unethical
actions undertaken by the Moral Guardians of Australia, which affected the health, wellbeing
and lifestyle of people staying there.
2.2 Professional factors
Professionalism is an important aspect not only for managing workforce efficiency but
also for ensuring that the workers fully commit to their roles and responsibilities. There are
multiple factors associated with the profession of individuals at Firestorm. The professional
factors are associated with the duties and obligations of employees towards the employer of
the organisation and meet the organisational goals and objectives effectively too.
Factor 1 - Confidentiality of data
