Introduction:
The concept of innovation refers to any new idea, or any creative thoughts, that is
devised or generated. It is often referred to as a method. The aim of the innovation is usually to
come up with solutions to specific questions that had been left unanswered. All the great
inventions are innovations to find the answer to certain questions.
However, the concept of social innovation is quite different. The idea of social innovation
refers to new social practices and policies that are aimed at changing and bettering the lives of
the individuals. The concept of social innovation applies to the field of environment, family, and
the work conditions, to the practices and approaches of community development, and the field
of educational development and towards a civil society. Social innovation refers to the process
of the development of society and social lives (Phills, Deiglmeier, and Miller, 2008). It is also
aimed at acknowledging the social and the environmental challenges which are effectively
affecting lives, thus ensuring social progress.
Aim:
Therefore, the objective of the following assignment is discussing about the concepts of
social innovation, social entrepreneurship, and the ideas of social enterprise with proper case
examples. The report will incorporate the management and application of the elements of
change.
Discussion:
The concepts of social innovation have now been incorporated by many social
entrepreneurs and startup investors. They look at the world and the needs of the people
differently and who are incredibly involved in these projects.
Elements of Social Innovation:
The concept of social innovation is rather new, and it has posited itself in various fields.
The idea has asserted itself in public, private, and in the educational areas, and the aim of such
programs is to fights the socio-political, environmental, and economic ills, circulated and existing
within the society and therefore, initiating a change at the global level. Social innovation aims to
merge the global and the local problems and, therefore, coordinating and mobilizing the same.
Thus, the elements of the social change are, social responsibility, social purpose, a collective

action, acculturation, merging the data, increasing connectivity, social entrepreneurship,
creating laws, and regulations and practicing them and lastly, but most importantly, the social
purpose (Portales, 2019). The principal elements of social innovation are that it must have a
social purpose, and it must aim at fulfilling social needs and objectives.
Social Entrepreneurship:
The concept of social entrepreneurship is a revolution, and the people taking part in this
revolution are regarded as the most socially responsible. The people from different walks of life
are coming together and joining to provide better solution changes that had been taking place in
society. The social entrepreneurs aim at creating something new, which will be helpful for the
entire or at least for a specific part of the society. Therefore social entrepreneurship includes
both the non- profit and the profit organizations. Voegtlin, and Scherer (2017), had opined that
the social entrepreneurs are the individuals who apply and imply their innovative skills to curb
and acknowledge the pressing problems of the society. They indicate their creative skills in
different fields and segments, and these ambitious selves recognize and look at the various
issues of society differently. They aim to offer a different solution to the problems of society and
therefore aim at tackling or handling the major social issues (Owen, Bessant, and Heintz, 2013).
More importantly, the solutions that they devise are extremely creative and society friendly, and
hence most of the time, the governmental bodies take an interest in them.
Social Enterprise:
Social enterprise refers to the organizations which apply and use the commercial and
the economic strategies to maximize the financial position for the organization in an endeavor to
reach help to those in need. The aim of thee organizations is to maximize the social impact and
to better the lifestyles of those in need. The social enterprises mostly consider the social
standards and the social positions of the poverty-stricken people. Therefore, social enterprises
are characterized by having both economic or business goals and social goals. Therefore, these
organizations include both the aspects of profit and non- profit organizations (Martin, and
Osberg, 2015). The social goals are incorporated in their structures of objectives, and they aim
to fulfill their social goals through the practice and the inclusion of the economic goals. Social
enterprises also aim at devising their income into segments and ensure that one significant
aspect of their profits goes straight for the improvement of the lifestyle of the poor people.
In this notion, an exemplification of one of the social enterprises is essential to mention.

The Fabric Social:
The Fabric Social is a unique endeavor taken by some members of the county Australia.
The organization is not merely an online shopping brand, or it is not a self- help organization
aimed at uplifting the women. Instead, it is a conscious clothing store, which includes its
employees, the women of the society who had been a part of the victim of the armed conflicts
(BS. 2020). The organization aims to provide economical solutions to those in need. Therefore,
they have primarily aimed at women who had been a part of the conflict situations. They also try
to develop altered practices because of conflict situations. They rigorously work at Assam and
Kolkata, and there are two primary reasons for the same. First, both the women of these two
places have a considerable cultural sense, and the culture of these two places is vibrant which
is often highlighted in their works, even in their textile works (values, 2020). Another prime
reason, especially for the women of Assam, is that they had been a part of the armed conflict or
wars.
Along with this, the organization is also aiming at providing maintaining transparency in
the process. Hence, their customer can connect with their workers, and also they ensure a 0%
wastage during the production process.
Conclusion:
The concepts of social enterprise and social entrepreneurship are entirely new in the
idea and are certain essential aspects and parts of the concept of social innovation, which is
technically an age-old concept. Social innovation is the practice and social entrepreneurship,
and the enterprises are the modes to practice the innovation process.
