The respective paper is a narration, introspection, analysis and interpretation of social,
biological or clinical issue that have influenced quite a number of people in the society in the
context of the United States. The respective paper is intended to provide a particular event that
has happened in the United States for the last four years which triggered mass attention and has
been controversial enough to have an international attention arrest. The paper provides details
about the event and introspects its connection with the statics and dynamics of psychology.
The most gruesome antisocial event that happened in the year 2016 at Ohio in The United
States was the spine-chilling murder of a family of eight members. The infamous murder of the
Rhoden family at Ohio that was comprised of eight members, among them was also a sixteen
years old teenager, triggered mass attention, attraction and condemnation throughout the nation.
The reason for the murder, according to the investigations done by the police and law and order
authorities, was found out to be “meticulously planned” and the murder had been related to the
child custody dispute, which had been one of the many reasons for domestic dispute in modern
America. The family of Wagner had been suspected and also arrested at the allegations of killing
the eight members of the family mercilessly. The Wagner family had been hiding in Alaska for a
few days after they had committed the crime in order to because of their fear of retaliation by the
relatives of the deceased or the police. However, they have been captured and were put behind
the bars in no time. According to the police, the murderers or the accused had been pre-planning
the murder of the family for several months and years. The killers, apparently, knew the

territories of the victimized families and therefore, started making gruesome plans to end the life
and sign of the family completely. The killers who were captured and arrested were too a family;
a middle aged couple around their forty’s and their two sons, who were twenty six and twenty
seven respectively. The accused of the murder has been given nearly eighty criminal charges
which include eight number of aggravated murders of the victimized family that are eligible
enough to land the accused family in death sentences, rather than lifelong imprisonment
(Bbc.com., 2018).
Through the mass homicide that had happened in the Ohio district of the United States,
the patterns of antisocial behavior of the United States can be introspected and analyzed. Social
Issues can be described as a problem that influences a considerable number of individuals in a
society. Social issues can be often termed as the consequence of factors extending beyond the
control of an individual, surpassing his/her limitations.
Anti social behavior that the Wagner family depicted can be defined as actions that
violate social norms in ways that reflect their disrespect and disregard of others or violation of
other’s rights, which includes right to live, marry or work. The basis of studying antisocial
behavior in the paradigm of psychology is to understand the aspects that are harmful for the
society or introspect about the facts that weather certain people are naturally prone to be harmful
to others respectively. The factual reasons behind anti-social behavior among men and women

are unknown; however, science has deduced that the “nature vs. nurture” can be included in
understanding the reason behind such anti-social behavior. Often, the situations, external
environment as well as internal conflicts are given as the reasons for the development of anti-
social behavior among an individual or a community or group. Nevertheless, there are biological
as well as clinical reasons for antisocial behavior as well.
Developmental origins of antisocial behavior: Early antisocial behavior origin can be
traced at the childhood behavioral problem of the particular individual (criminal or a person
having criminal possibilities and tendencies). The childhood behavioral problem can be
characterized by aggressive and destructive behavioral pattern. Deficits in self-regulation, from
physiological to cognitive, can lead a child into a greater magnitude of anti-social behavior, if
not taken care of in the early years. Parenting behavior also has to be kept in mind in order to
build a child into a rational individual holistically. Anti-social behavior is sometimes associated
with physical assault which can be fatal for the victim and that can even lead to death of the
respective victim. The arousal regulation, if introduced to the children at very early age who do
not possess the skill or the art to control her/his anger or violent emotions, can gradually help the
child recover her/his violent behavioral problems. The parents who teach their children the virtue
of compassion, love and care to all people, despite of race, class and gender, raise virtuous
children who are less prone to criminal activities. However, it has to be remembered that, in the
given case of mass murder of a family in Ohio, the murderers were a family themselves, which

included parents and two children. The respective case is family annihilation. Mass killings are
not contemporary. It can be traced back the centuries, including prehistory. Therefore, family
killings or mass murders, if introspected, should be taken with an evolutionary approach. To
understand the psyche of the mass murderers, it also has to be understood that mass murderers
partially lose their sanity to differentiate what is “insanity” and what is “virtue”. In this case, the
murderers had been so engrossed with their obsession of killing the family (that generally
happens out of intense hatred or animosity) that they could not understand what catastrophic act
they were going to commit, which could change their life, sometimes, even ending it with death
sentences. Paranoia or instability among the individuals has biological factors that suggest that
the patients might be having genetic link of schizophrenia or delusional disorder among their
relatives. Mass murderers often possess certain personality dysfunctions and distortions such as
excessive rage, grandiosity about himself/herself, pathological narcissism and unusual
callousness which signifies futuristic danger, if not treated at nascent stage. Certain psychotic
drugs as well as psychiatric assessment along with psychotic exercises are generally prescribed
by the psychiatrists to the patients (Wood & Dennard, 2017). In the fast and the fiercely
competitive world of America where the materialistic pursuits have changed the meaning of life
completely, insanity and obsessive madness is common and it can even claim innocent lives,
which is not surprising. Nevertheless, the society of the United States, which has recently been
overtly inclined towards crime and criminal activities, needs to get aware of their whereabouts

and as responsible citizens and individuals, they also need to understand ad value their as well as
other’s life to a greater extent, only to survive and prosper in the society. However, the paranoia
and unstable behavior of the murderous family that killed the family of Ohio could have been
psychologically ill without being aware of the fact which is a great problem in the developed
countries like America (Grant et al., 2004).
