1QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS1.1Social model of health states that the health is influenced by variety of factors likeinterpersonal, individual, organizational, environmental, social and economic factors. Thesefactors are interrelated and determine the deeper health understanding focusing on the anatomy,physiology and biology of the health. Health can be fully understood in a way where there isexploration of interactions and influences that define human experiences and interrelationshipbetween body, mind and soul (Mcqueen and De Salazar, 2011)1.2Biomedical model of health focuses on the physical and biological factors of illness anddisease. It is associated with the diagnosis, treatment and cure of the disease. It completelyignores the social, psychological aspects of an illness that might affect an individual. It ignoresthe concept of prevention and focuses on diagnosis and treatment of the disease (Deacon &McKay, 2015). 2. The aim of NSQHS Standards provide an explicit framework for quality standards and aimedat congruence level identification between the best practices and quality standards. Thesestandards help the organization leaders to implement clinical governance in their systems forsetting, monitoring and improving the performance of the organization along with quality andreliability of patient care and improve patient outcomes. It is also utilized by the organization todevelop effective communication in patient experience and in the maintenance of qualitymanagement in the organization’s workforce and use of governance systems by the members(www.safetyandquality.gov.au, 2017). 3.Overall healthcare system of Australia is multifaceted and provides variety of private andpublic healthcare providers and regulatory mechanisms. The coordination, governance,regulation of the healthcare services in Australia is complex and there is joint responsibilities

According to Australian Institute of Health andWelfare (AIHW) 2013-14, the two-thirds of the health spending comes from AustralianGovernment and it tends to increase steadily with progressing time. The healthcare workforce isdiverse and large comprising of highly qualified healthcare professionals, nurses, midwivesbeing the largest group, medical practitioners and makes up the largest profession in Australia(www.aihw.gov.au, 2017). 4. The nursing in Australia evolved during the late 1800s when South Australian nurses took aformal decision to support their role and improve the nursing education standards(www.anmfsa.org.au, 2017). From there, the Royal British Nurses Association (SA Branch) andAustralasian Trained Nurses Association (ATNA) in New South Wales was established in 1899.In 1905, Kate Hill, a highly dedicated nurse supported and there was creation of SouthAustralian branch of ATNA. Finally, in 1920, Nurses Registration Act came into existence and afederal body was established in South Australia for the registration, training and exams of thenurses in the state. In 1937 and 1939, the board received recognition and went into recess duringthe Second World War. Today, this organization acts as the industrial and professionalorganization comprising of 18,000 nurses with incorporation of Australian Nursing andMidwifery Board of Australia. 5. Nursing profession comprise of the active nurses who are the layers in the competitive anddemanding labour market making up the maximum workforce in the healthcare system. Theperspective of nursing has changed over the years, as there is advancement in science andresearch that have an impact on clinical practice and nursing education. There are new ways oflooking into this profession and refinement of the traditional methods; health, person,

There is an evolving pattern of intelligence that promise nursingthrough advancement of scientific knowledge and inquiry into nursing practice (Yoder-Wise,2011). 6. The primary healthcare is the first care level for the consumers that are provided outside thehospital setting. In this, there is community control over the health promotion, health service,disease prevention and accessible to acceptable and affordable technology. There is clienteducation for the understanding of disease prevention and health promotion. Primary healthservices not only encompass nursing and medical health professionals, but also comprises ofeducators and community health workers. 7.1 Holistic model not only focus on the specific parts of the body or illness, it encompasses thewhole person and its interaction with the environment. It constitutes the connection of body,mind and soul. For the maximum achievement of well-being, this model is used that includewell-being and functioning of the individual. Therefore, within the holistic model, people acceptthe responsibility for their own health and well-being and make lifestyle choices to take chargeof their own 7.2 The Health-illness continuum model explains that a person’s experiences through the variousstages of illness and health fluctuate throughout their life. Health is a continual change where thebody adapts itself to the changes during illness and try to maintain well-being and health. Thiseffective functioning and adaptation is a part of well-being and getting acclimatised to the illnesschanges to main good health. 8. NMBA is a board that regulates the policies and professional advices for the nurses andmidwives in Australia that support their professional nursing practice and meet the standards that
