1SOCIAL POLICIES
The formation of social policies aims to ensure the individual welfare by means of legislative
regulation. The formation of the social policies is also greatly related with the social
development and hence there is a constant change and shuffling in the policies in order to suit the
well being of the institution (.Andrews, 2012) Though. Primarily the social policies are
formulated by the state and turned into laws by the judiciary system, it is however, often seen
that the social policies can be formed by an organization or institution, that acts independently
and have their own regulators. Of course those regulations have to tally with the laws of state.
This essay will deal with the formulation of anti child abuse policies as implemented by
the National Conference of State Legislature in US.
It has been reported that every year in US, a large number of children are abused either
physically or emotionally and most of them are treated as “normal”. The council has detected the
various categories of abuse and neglects. While the physical abuse or the emotional abuse refer
to the actions that can harm a child physically or mentally, the neglects can be classified as
Educational neglect, emotional neglect, medical neglect etc. The conference laid out a detailed
description of the probable causes behind such actions and formulated some evident based
policies in order to keep the matter in check. Crucial among those are:
1.Visiting of the social workers to each child at early stage of childhood.
2. giving health accesses to those who cannot afford it.
3. Providing tax related supports to the families.
4. Social Services Enrollment Rules and Requirements
5. Providing housing vouchers to families so that they can shift to a better resourced community.
6. Maternal and paternal family leaves.
