The social problem in Australia
In order to under to understand the importance to the burgeoning effects of social
problem it is very important to understand the difference between the social problems and social
issues. Social problems are something that has the potential to damage the society. A social
problem has the capacity to influence the reactions of the people in certain situations. Whereas
the social issue refers to the social cause those results in the consequences of negative factors. In
Australia there are several mushrooming social issue like alcohol problem or the increase in the
homelessness and so on. However these problems need not have the political or economic
solutions. In the age of modernization and increased differentiation there is an increase of mutual
interdependence. Thus the impact of the economic, political, social and cultural as well as
ecological activates constitutes a holistic patterns that affects the living reality of the human
being. In the same process the a social problem is constituted in Australia. In this paper the
domestic violence and the need of community development will be analyzed.
Domestic violence or the violence attitude inflicted to women is gory reality that is
present in Australia. It is again important to understand the violence is particularly high within
the married couples home is gradually turning into a place of pain and suffering for women.
Again these kind of activities inflicted upon woman is not just restricted to the women itself the
impact is such deeper because in the meanwhile the child is also getting affected by the women.
Thus the violence has far reaching consequences. According to the 4Th national survey on sexual
harassment in Australian workplaces, 85 % of the Australian women have been sexually abused.
Almost 40% of women continue to experience violence even though temporarily separated form
their partner (Australian bureau of statistic, 2017). It is important to understand that domestic
abuse is just not related to women above 18 years old, records shows how 1 in 6 women have

experienced staling since age 15 and have also experienced domestic violence (Woodlock,
2017). The data is just restricted to the sufferings of women even though they outnumber the
male accounts (AIHW - Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. 2018). However there is also
prevalence of men domestic abuse, where two-third of men was assaulted before 12 month
survey.
In order to understand the urgency of the community development program, it important
to gauge the risk factors for domestic violence. The possible risk factors as stated in the public
document of Australia. For instance, the perpetrator’s excessive alcohol consumption, unable to
deal with the stress or unable to accept the newer variant of division of labor can serve as the
possible cause for domestic violence. Feminist have contributed a lot of theory and concept by
which one can comprehend the actual cause of the emergence of domestic violence. Owing to the
age of modernization, where the areas of production that is, work and the areas of consumption
gets blurred, women tends to break away the traditional barrier and they step outside in the work
sphere. It is important to understand the historical significance of the indigenous community
because according it the records it is the indigenous community which has the highest rates of
domestic abuse. Again it is important for understand the effect of such roles because for a change
to emplaced in the society it needs to fit in both the material conditions and ideological
conditions. Feminist identifies this juncture as the most important point and it is also something
that has resulted in the conflicting attitudes of men to women. This kind of emergence to new
situation has disrupted the traditional social fabric thus it is important to acieration the growth
symmetrically. Here comes the need to community development programs which can mend the
social fabric by instilling the moral and the ethical order back into its place.
