Definition of 3 logical fallacies
Straw man: A straw man fallacy can be defined as a form of argument as well as an informal
fallacy which is based on demonstrating the impression of refuting the argument of the opponent
while actually refuting an argument which is not actually presented by the opponent (Van
Eemeren and Grootendorst 2016). For instance, if X says that she believe her friends should not
be rude to the new boy, a straw man will demonstrate it as she/he cannot believe that X is
choosing to be better friends with the new boy compared to her friends who were always by her
side.
Appeal to emotion: the appeal to emotion fallacy can be defined as a logical fallacy that is
characterized by the manipulation of the emotions of the recipient for winning an argument,
especially in the case of absence of factual evidence (Hayek 2018). For instance, for the fact, ‘X
is true”, the appeal to emotion fallacy will be “think how sad you will be if X is not true.”
False Dilemma: False Dilemma refers to a fallacy when an argument present two points while
disregarding as well as ignoring others in order to narrow down the argument in favour of an
individual. An example for false dilemma policy includes “you are for us or you are against us.”
Argument for women’s right
Celebrating the movement for women’s rights, the International Women’s Day is
celebrated every year since 1910 International Women’s Conference first established 108 years
ago. Until the second half of the 20th century, women in majority of the society were considered
to the inferior race compared to the male race (Goodman 2018). They were not provided with
political and legal rights. A for instance when it comes to political rights, a voting gender gap
existed for a prolonged period between the two genders. Even in developed nations like USA,
