Introduction
Cybercrime has developed into a new normal and has been severely posing impact on US
financial system. Cybercrime persists to cause severe financial collision to economies to the
refrain of approximately $650 billion. The following paper analyses the way cyber crime has
been affecting US’s gas and energy sector and applying Diversity and Commonality can reduce
such threats.
Discussion
Sobczak, Northey and Behr (2017) have revealed that threat on energy infrastructure
possess the ability to shift away from cyber sector to the physical arena whereby such threats
could cause massive operational breakdown of an energy quality. Due to such elevating risks
large highly centralized infrastructures of America’s gas sector have been at critical risk because
of the ‘domino effect’ damage which cyber crime on power plant could cause. These threats
however have instilled a sense of anxiety among the US energy companies while majority
organizations have been struggling to attain strategies of condensing such threats.
However, drawing relevance to such increasing rate of cyber attacks on US energy and
gas sector, it is highly essential for companies to build diversified and inclusive workplace by
structuring a pipeline of young capacity in order to protect in opposition to cyber threats in the
future. Thus according to Craigen, Diakun-Thibault and Purse (2014) there is a significant need
of professionals to tackles complexity of advanced technologies across environments.

Hence to conclude, cyber security proficiencies primarily related lateral assessment along
with problem-solving skills have been typically found in individuals external to the customary
domains and these diverse perspectives have been of severe need for US economy.
