Background of study
The debate regarding what constitutes effective pedagogy in the early childhood years
has been the topic of increased debate and attention in the current years. Play based learning or
play pedagogies is considered one of the vital instructive method towards the enhancement of the
academic and social outcomes (ACARA. 2010). There has been along debates regarding the
progressive suppression regarding the context of play and the value of education in early
learning. With the increased number of researches, it has been revealed regarding the some of the
most common challenges with the play pedagogies that includes the less structured and difficulty
to plan the pay learning, feeling of uncertainty regarding the implementation of the guided play
and lack of direct instruction in play learning.
Statement of problem
In the current time, the challenges reported in the context of the play learning has been
one of the major factor of concern. This is because the educative context regarding the teacher
guided play, the direct instructions and the child directed free play are all the strategies or the
factors for the promotion of the early effective literacy across the kindergarten (Gray,2013). The
issues rising due to the play learnings and the play pedagogies are some of the factors that are
creating barriers towards the proper and the effective implementation of the advocacy for the
play pedagogies in the early childhood education.
Research Rationale

The importance and the essentiality regarding the play pedagogies in the early childhood
education. Play has been considered as one of the most effective ways in which the young
children gets the chance to gain some of the essential skills and the knowledge. Though there has
been some of the rising debate including the factors challenging the concept and the process of
the play pedagogies in the education of the early childhood, this research aims to highlight the
key role of play towards the opportunities and the enhancement of children’s social,
psychological and enthusiastic abilities influencing and exploring the mind of the child. As
pointed by Ang (2014) play and the activities related to the play learning gives the child a new
form of desires which furthermore enhances the chance of greatest achievement in the upcoming
date. The aim of this research study is to identify the degree of the importance and effectiveness
of play learning on early childhood education irrespective of the challenges denoted by certain
researches regarding the play learnings.
Aims and Objectives
The aim of this research study is to analyze whether the play pedagogies and the practice
of the play pedagogy is effective in the early children learning. Taking in consideration of all the
challenges and also the importance of the play learning on the early childhood education, the
following objectives includes the following.
The research objectives are:
 To understand the role of the play pedagogies towards the enhancement of the learning
and knowledge efficiency in the context of early childhood
 To identify various means by which the play learning process can be practiced and

Literature Review
Teaching through play
Play instructional method is the blending of the learning and plating for the development
of the psychological, social and enthusiastic abilities. Play is something which is never absent in
the life of the human specifically for the children (Hunkin, 2014). The importance of the play
with education is recognized in the history of the child education. In the last 10-15 years, some
of the new thinking has emerged regarding the role of the play in the educational early years
including the close observations, furthermore prompted by the shifts in the perspectives of theory

and the video recordings in the nursery plays that promotes long term positive outcomes to the
children.
The role of adults in children’s play
According to McInnes et al., (2011) the shift regarding the role of the children’s play has
implemented a detailed examination regarding the belief of the teacher and the practitioners
regarding the role of the pay in case of the learning among the children together with the analysis
regarding their interactions with the children during the activities of play with the use of the
video recordings and the structured observations. The findings from the research study of
Whitbread (2017) are the factors of the increasingly important targeting the specifically essential

curriculum of nation.
Methodology
Research Philosophy

The research philosophy is generally considered for the analysis and the development of
the study in detail. Among the three categories of research philosophies which are the
interpretivism, the positivism and the realism, the positivism research philosophy will be
beneficial for this particular research study for the investigation of the issue in a logical and a
critical manner. According to (Weisberg, Hirsh‐Pasek and Golinkoff (2013) the positivism
research philosophy helps is the development of the in depth analysis of the particular study. The
other two philosophies will not be used and will be rejected since these philosophies depend on
each of the individual while the perception might very from one person to another.
Research Design
For this research study, the analytical or the descriptive research study will be used for
the understanding of the concept at a very initial stage. This research study will be used for the
study for gaining a detailed idea regarding the existing theories, analytics and the concepts of the
study, while the other two design namely the exploratory ad the explanatory design will be
rejected.
Data collection Method
For the research to be conducted in an effective manner, data or information is required.
The process of research is generally conducted with the help of the secondary and the primary
data. Primary data is the data collected from the survey, questionnaires and the interview
methods. The secondary data is the data that is collected from the books, the journal, the articles
that already contains some of the researched information. For the proper conduction of the
research, it is essential to collect both the primary and the secondary data (Pyle & Danniels,
2017). The primary data will allow the researcher of the study for conducting survey which he or

she will analyze his data or the information. The secondary data will allow the researcher to
depend over the journals and the researches that has already been done and published.
For this research, the researcher will collect the primary data from the schools and the
kindergarten by surveying and interviewing the teachers and the parents of the children for
recording their opinion of the play learning. The survey questionnaire will include open ended
questions and on the basis of the data collected, the data analysis for the research will be
collected (Jarvis, Newman & Swiniarski, 2014). The research will also use secondary data from
the secondary resources like the journal articles, books and the publishments by other researcher
for gaining through knowledge regarding the effectiveness of the play pedagogies.
Sampling Method and sampling size
As per the analysis and the explanation by (Cutter-Mackenzie and Edwards (2013) there
lies two of the major categories or types of the sampling methods for the successful completion
of the process of the research. These are the probability and non probability sampling methods.
The probability sampling method allows the selection of the respondents and the sample on a
very random basis. This sampling technique is effective for understanding and knowing the
overall responses of the given topic of the research. The non probability sampling however des
no allow the selection of the respondents on a random basis. The researcher for this research will
rely over the non probability sampling method since he will be knowing the targeted population.
The selected group for the interview and the survey will be the teachers, the principal of the
educational institution and the kindergarten and also the parents of the little children.
Data analysis technique

For the successful completion of the analysis and the interpretation of the quantitative
data which is collected by the means of the survey, the information or the data will be converted
to numeric and percentages for the gaining of the comprehensive and the comparative data set of
the collected set of information. The data collected will then to converted to the charts and the
graphs for the presentation in the pictorial format. In the consideration of the evaluation related
to the qualitative set of data, the approaches that will be undertaken includes the interview and
the survey method in case of several themes.
Ethical consideration
During the conduction of the entire research study, strict ethical guidelines will be
followed. For the collection of the primary set of data, no participants of the research surrey will
be forced for their answers and a consent form will be presented to them for taking their
signature for making it sure that the participants are doing it willingly (Moore, 2017). There will
not be any of the symbol and logo in the survey paper portraying any kind or category of
advertisements but is to be understood that the research is entirely base on academic purposes. In
this case, if any of the permission is required from any of the authority, it will be taken. In case
of carrying out the secondary research, the context of referencing and avoiding of plagiarism is
essential. Thus there will be no approach for violating any of the norms and the regulation
regarding the ethical guidelines.
Limitation of study
Some of the limitations that can be highlighted in this particular research are as follows.
Time frame has always been one of the major issues or the limitation of each and every research.
Availability of the resources together with the lack of the responses and co-operation from the

teachers and the principles of the school and the early childhood educational institutions as well
as the kindergarten constitutes as some of the major limitations of the study. Instances of non-co-
operation from the parents is also a major barrier. There furthermore lies the possibility of issues
or problems related to the gaining of the permission of the interview dates with the principal of
the educational organization.
