CASE STUDY ANALYSIS
The importance of a sound leadership strategy and a motivating leader for the success of any
organization is an undisputed matter of fact. The style of leadership that is adopted by any
organization’s leader altogether influences the attitude of the office employees, the overall work
environment and the potential image of the organization to its external public (Giltinane, 2013).
In the referred case study, Rachel Adams is depicted as an effective leader who is always
open to new ideas and never misses a turn to grab new and exclusive opportunities. After her in-
depth experience in the field of clinical drug studies as she was integrally associated with a large
pharmaceutical company she felt that there is an immense need of research centers to be
connected with big pharmaceutical companies. This would not only help in creating more and
more job opportunities but will altogether bring qualitative improvements in drug production
sector of the company. Thus Rachel took all the required initiative and established Independent
Centre for Clinical Research. (ICCR) () . Her prime vision to build ICCR was to build an
effective link between research studies conducted in the field of pharmacy and drug analysis
along with cost-effect clinical trials for benefitting the organization and the society at large. Just
within a span of five years Rachel became the president and CEO of ICCR. She has always set
professional standards in which ever organization she worked and being so integrally associated
with ICCR which was indeed her brain child she made sure that the organization stood best in all
aspect be it the work culture, or the work environment or their quality of output. Rachel always
believed and applied Transformational Leadership Approach (McCleskey, 2014) in her
organization. Transformational leadership has always proved product for any organization as it
helps the staffs realize rather discover their own potentials whereas see their leader bringing
effective changes in the organization which would lead to increased productivity. A

transformational leader is not just concerned with the production rate or profit figures he/she is
equally concerned about the fact that how his/her company is benefiting the society at large
(Moriano, et al. 2014). Social responsibilities are of prime importance for any leaser to earn
respect and become an example to be followed by his/her subordinates.
Thus, here in this referred case study Rachel portrays such leadership qualities and
strongly believed that innovations and transformations are very essential features for any
organization to remain relevant (). Being a transformational leader she ensured utmost welfare of
all the employees. It was the employees who claimed that it was probably the best organization
to be associated with and took immense pride for the same. With over 100 full time employees
and mostly being women, Rachel created a new bench mark with the organization’s
performance. Rachel is both a free thinker as well as a rule breaker who feels woman must be
encouraged to work and discover their own potentials. That is the reason ICCR essentially
recruits more women and ensure a healthy and safe working environment for them. Independent
Centre for Clinical Research (ICCR) is very committed towards uplifting women, which is very
much evident in its association with case studies which are exceptionally related with uplifting
women’s health care and welfare facilities. Even the organizational policies are so employee
centric like on-site care programs for working mothers, flexible time schedules for women with
small children, as well as full health care coverage and varied such other benefits for full time as
well as par-time employees. It is often said that with great position and power comes greater
responsibilities, thus Rachel has always worked for bringing in more positive results with her
organization and has continuously tried to emphasize on the quality of production.
