1QUALITATIVE RESEARCH
In the last assignment, I Chose qualitative research in sport and healthcare related
subjects to determine the strength and weaknesses of the qualitative research method. The reason
for choosing qualitative analysis was its depth and reach in social context. Moreover its data
collection and interpretation technique provides a clear idea regarding the research subject. In
this assignment, I will be conducting another research to understand the effectiveness of
qualitative analysis in research related to sport and fitness (Smith and Sparkes 2013). The
assignment will be incorporating research articles that adds to the point. Further, the paradigm of
world view will be included with demonstration of coherent paradigm positioning in which
anthology, methodology and epistemology will be present in alignment. Finally, few
characteristics of qualitative research with proper research scenario will be mentioned in the
assignment.
The science related to sport is a cumulative domain that is dependent on an
multidisciplinary area. Of research. These disciplines ranges from sociology, psychology, and
physiology of sport and involved players and their performances. According to major and Savin-
Baden (2012), early researchers used to conduct quantitative study in the area of sports as they
were destined to understand the source of inspiration and its nature. However, 1980 onwards
researchers stared debating in the context of sport and usage of quantitative study and gradually
an alternative approach started replacing the quantitative approach. Hence, since then the
qualitative research was used by researchers as it helped them to understand each section of sport
science with conviction (Smith and Sparkes 2013). Further it helped to understand the strength
and weakness of each particular sport and supporting data from the responses of the people
involved determined the authenticity of it.
