Introduction/Background
The undertaken project is linked with redesigning of PHL website. Pashendale Holding Ltd is a company
based on Australia that is working on redesigning of the existing website for enhancing their customer
service as well as marketing. The report aims in development of a SOW that will guarantee that the work
associated with the project are done according to the expectations and the guidelines of the project
(Harrison and Lock 2017).
A statement of work (SOW) provides an overview that lays the foundation of effective planning and
successful execution of a project (Kerzner 2017). A SOW is quite important for both project and contract
management, which guarantees the work that is to be performed for project completion in a successful
way (Too and Weaver 2014). Different contractors collaborate outside the organization to prepare a
statement of work that is specified in a project.
The project requires redevelopment of the existing PHL website. The project requires development of a
website for PHL that will be rich in content. The content will be designed on basis of the client
testimonials, affiliation of the network platform and industrial information that is associated with the
business needs (Kerzner 2019). The redesigned website aims in providing a simpler interface which
would be user-friendly to the clients. The redesigned website is expected to draw more traffic than usual
as the company aims in development of a tailored solution for construction. The new website to be built
aims in facilitating a timely feedback to the prospective clients that aims in improving the process of
customers’ interaction with the Company.
One of the most significant problems linked with the undertaken project is that PHL has no internal
department of IT. Therefore, in the project that deals with redevelopment of the website, the entire work of
designing, implementation of testing and training related to the undertaken project will be outsourced. A
contractor will be chosen in this project to perform all the work that is a part of the project. However,
adequate resources are needed to be chosen that will ascertain successful project execution. The
statement of work that is being prepared identifies the project’s scope, the major work needs linked with
the project along with the time-schedule and pricing of the undertaken project.
Project Scope
Identifying the scope of any project is an integral part of planning a project, as it requires determination
and documentation of the specific task that is to be completed in a project. The scope of a project is
further necessary for correct identification of the deliverables, goals, functions and the tasks linked with
the undertaken project (Mir and Pinnington 2014). For the website development project it is quite
necessary to correctly, identify the main scope and the deliverables of a project. The requirements or the
deliverables, which are within the scope of this project, are indicated as follows-
The new website to be built will be rich in content, which will enhance the marketing and the
customer service.
The chosen contractor will be working with PHL for gathering the main needs of the project along
with the detailed testing plan.
The implementation of the project is subjected to implementation of the newly redesigned site by
the contractor
A 24 x 7 support will be provided on the newly redesigned website until the end of the undertaken
project.

The chosen contractor will be providing a the status update in a detailed format stating the
findings of the weekly meetings.
It is a part of the scope that the SOW of the project will be released on 6 September 2019. No
delays in the same is permissible.
The required documentation by PHL will be delivered in accordance to the plan of the project that
is prepared.
The project will be completed within 25th December
The project will be implemented within the set budget
The above-discussed points indicate the scope of the project that can be considered for completion of this
project in a proper way (Leach 2014). It is required for the CMO to ascertain that all the identified scope of
the proposed undertaken project are fulfilled. The out of scope needs of the undertaken project are
indicated as follows-
Although a contractor will complete the project, the maintenance of the website after the launch of
the proposed project is not within the project’s scope.
Change in the design and the objective of the proposed project after the initiation of the execution
of the project is not permissible
Training will be provided only once, further technical training requirements will be out of the scope
for this project
The above paragraphs discuss the in-scope and the out-scope requirements of the undertaken project.
The scope identification is vital as it helps in development of a plan that the contractor and the proposed
project manager needs to follow for successful execution. The in scope requirements of the undertaken
project is necessary to be fulfilled for delivering the project in the scheduled time.
Work Requirements
Identification of the most significant work requirements of the project is vital for developing a plan that can
ascertain successful project execution (Marchewka 2016). The key aim of this undertaken project of
redeveloping of the website is to enhance the marketing along with the customer-service for proper
execution of the project that is undertaken (Schwalbe 2015). Since PHL has no separate IT department
that can help in execution of the work, the entire work is needed to be outsourced. To ascertain that the
contractor delivers the entire project as per the plan, it is quite important to have a clear identification of
the main work requirements of the project. The most essential work requirements to be completed as a
part of project.
One of the most significant work requirements for this particular project is that the selected contractor
needs to present PHL with a detailed plan for the undertaken project, testing plan and the implementation
plan for the project. The work on the selected project cannot start prior to the approval of all these
documents by PHL.
Status updates are another important work requirement of this undertaken project as it is vital for the
contractor to enable PHL with a detailed status-update of all the meeting that are to be held during the
project execution and completion.
The contractor chosen for this particualr project needs to provide a 24 x 7 support for the website until the
closure phase pf the project. Along with that, the details of the status updates and the meeting, taking
place between the contractors are the PHL is to be documented and to be shared regularly.
Since the entire project will be outsourced, it is critical for the contractors to provide the PHL with the
regular updates and it is therefore considered an important part of the work requirement.

The work requirements identifies the execution of the entire project in different phases. These phases
include gathering of the requirements, implementation, conversion and closure.
In one of the phases, that is conversion, the contractor needs to supply PHL with all the required
documents in relation to the project that is approved. The closure report is needed to be prepared for
approval and review. The contractor furthermore needs to provide a continuous support to the website.
The project implementation will not start before 27 September, as the contractor will be selected during
that time. After the selection of the contractor, the project might start after an interval of a week.
Release of each milestone of the project is subjected to completion in a specific date. As per the work
requirements, the SOW is to be released on 6 September. Similarly, specific dates are allocated for other
important tasks of the project.
The cost estimates for the project is further divided into different phases, which include the planning,
implementation, designing and conversion phase. The maximum cost that can be allocated for each
phase is predetermined and therefore, the entire project must be completed within the budget allocated.
The PHL personnel requires training of the individuals who will be using that website. The project can only
be closed with the formal acceptance of all the identified deliverables and proper delivery of all the
deliverables identified for the project. The CMO will be watching over the main deliverables for the design
contractor of the website. Therefore, meeting all the identified deliverables of the project is a significantly
important work requirement identified for this particular project.
Schedule/Milestones
The estimate of the time schedule of the project along with the critical milestones that the project needs to
complete is indicated in the table as follows-

project. The release of the SOW and its approval will help in contractor selection. The project cannot start
before selecting the contractor. The website design and review process needs to be completed within 25th
October. It is necessary for the contractor to stick to the above-indicated timeframe to ascertain that the
project is completed as per plan. If the above identified schedule is followed, it is possible to close the
project within 25th December. The PHL project will be executed and completed, as per the above-
mentioned schedule estimated for the project. No change in the schedule of the project can be accepted
in this case as one of the main acceptance criteria of the project is to launch the project prior to the

contractor for successful project closure (Fleming and Koppelman 2016). The key acceptance criteria of
the said project are discussed in the paragraphs below-

undertaken project involves finishing of the said project as per the budget set. This is subjected to

this particular case.

said project before Christmas so that the project can be formally closed at the Christmas Day. Therefore,
the delays in the project is not accepted.
Training is another significant success criterion of the PHL project, as project cannot be closed without
training the employees and the staffs (Heagney 2016). The CMO is responsible for signing off the project
