Every company needs a strategic direction in order to get the maximum profits which
is possible through the strategic management of the company which outlines plan to get the
long-term profitability. Here, the purpose of report is to discuss the strategic analysis of
Healthcare company which is selected to be Regis Healthcare as the leading Australian aging
care company that provides the quality care to the old age people along with the club services
(Regis Healthcare, 2019). The report will highlight the external and internal environment of
the industry along with the application of certain models and strategic framework for the
analysis of the healthcare industry of Australia.
External Environment of Industry
External environment includes the analysis of influence of external factors which can be
helpful for the company to reduce the negative impact of the factors and take the opportunity
of the positive influence (López-Gamero & Molina-Azorín, 2016). External environment can
be understood from the PEST model that can be helpful for the company to determine the
impact of the external factors. The following factors are included in PEST analysis:
Political Factors: This includes policy structure of Australian Government that can
majorly affect the aged care sector. Further, the policy reform in Australia can affect
the aged care sector of Australia in which the policy of Living Longer Living Better
has provided a major opportunity for the industry to grow (Flexible Living, 2012).
Economic Factors: These factors include the economic condition such as economic
growth, inflation and employment rates. Economic growth of Australia is stable and
increase in the employment rates has given an opportunity to expand the business
through the employment of efficient workforce (Deloitte, 2016).
Social Factors: It includes the changing lifestyles, consumer behaviours and
preferences and income and educational level that impacts the concerned industry.
Moreover, changing preferences of the consumers affects the aged care sector in

Technological Factors: These factors include the rapid changes in technology and
the innovation that can affect the operations of the company. Moreover, the
technological changes in the Australia has affected the availing of more personalized
care to the patients.

can use Porter’s Five Forces Model for the determination of the strength and weakness of the
business that can be helpful for earning of competitive advantage over the concerned
competitors into the market. The application of the model is as below:
In healthcare industry, the bargaining power of the buyer is lower due to the fact that
the company has standardized care services for the people which compels the
company to make the organization’s services prices low.
There are threats of new entrants in Australian aged sector which creates the
competitive marketplace for the company. The company faces stiff competition from
the new care providers in the Australia that have been providing the residential care to
the people which affected the business (Doyle & Morris, 2017).
Further, there are threat of substitute service which the competitors can make and can
