Australia postal company is the government corporation that is offering postal service sin
Australia. However there are various private companies providing similar services, which can be
major competition for the company. The two major competitors of Australia post include DHL
and FedEx which are private companies that can be threat for the company as they are working
towards innovation and updated technology like introduced GPS system in parcel delivery
(auspost, 2019). However it has been identified that Australia post has been working towards the
use of technology, which can be competitive advantage for the company. Moreover in order to
maintain the standards by the Australian Postal corporation act 1989 is also abided, which
reasonably meet commercial, industrial, social needs of community (Aas & Rubin, 2015). The
act clearly provides the standards of performance like frequencies and delivery time that were set
for the Australian post. Moreover, the act is also responsible for the improvement in technique
for universal service and the use is open to scrutiny, which can be competitive advantage for the
company. However the current techniques used by the company may lead to overestimation of
the cost. Nevertheless, another key advantage for the Australia post is that there is reserve
service by Australia post that reflect restriction for certain types of letters for the competitors.
Thus, it can be said that some of the change like use of direct fund would be helpful for the
company and add competitive advantage for the company (pc.gov.au, 2019).
Value chain Analysis
The key sources in the value chain of Australia post are act as the competitive advantage for the
company that is the human resource of the company that reflect employee engagement by 60%.
