Introduction
It is extremely important for an organization to indulge in a lot of strategic planning and
management for the purpose of ensuring that the business process goes smoothly without much
problem. The utility of the planning process lies in the fact that it seeks to ensure certain key
organizational goals and also fulfill the achievement of certain organizational targets. They
involve the augmentation of the intensity of the job contentment of the employees of the
concerned organization, promoting of a hale and hearty and encouraging work culture for the
function of escalating the intensity of contentment of the recruits and boosting the output of the
organization for the function of ensuring both the happiness of the clientele as well as that of the
human resources and for the by and large expansion and progress of the organization. These
accounts for the basic goals and targets of an organization which it seeks to fulfill, and in the
following sections the importance of strategic management shall be demonstrated on the basis of
a case study.
In this particular report, the focus of the discussion shall be based on three key questions
which are as follows:-
- Critical assessment of the key principles underlying strategic people management

- Critical assessment of the different approaches to managing teams in a global
environment
These key questions shall be answered in the following sections on the basis of a case study
which deals with the functioning of a chosen company.
Overview of the case study
J & J Furnishings, Ltd. had started their business venture of building and selling of home
furniture in the year 1965, in the city of Sydney, Australia. The business venture had been started
by two siblings named Jack and Jessica, which had led to the nomenclature J & J by taking the
first letters of their first names. Initially the business venture had started off with the building and
selling of home furniture in the year 1965 and later the siblings had added another line of office
space related furniture from the years from the middle of the 1980s. Over the last twenty five
years that company J & J had opened several furniture showrooms in several international
locations such as New York in the United States of America, London in the United Kingdom and
Tokyo in Japan which shows that the business venture had witnessed an expanse at foreign
locations away from Australia and is also an indication of the business venture of the company.
From the early years of the decade of the 1990s the company J & J had tended to increase the
rate of the sales by means of shipping the furniture that it produces, which comprised of general
furniture as well as those which could be uses as home decoration accessories to the distributing
firms all over the continent of Europe and also in the nation of the United States of America.
With the annual income of revenue which had summed up to be nearly at around $50,000,000
American Dollars, the owner siblings Jack and Jessica had been quite pleased about the fact their
