Introduction
In the contemporary business environment, it is of much importance to carry the ability and
knowledge of managing, organising and achieving organisational goals for a skilled manager of
any organisation. These are the key responsibilities of the managers, senior executives and also
the directors of any specific organisation. Project Management involves the idea along with the
budget for the new service to be implemented, hiring significant human resource and also
evaluating the performance of the project in regular basis. In context to this study, the various
stages and the elements of Project Management in Cheshire House, a health care organisation
will be discussed in details to understand the significance of strategic project management.
Task 1
Describing the project master plan and establishing the relationship between master plan
and project proposal
With growing technological development in every sector, it has become important involve
facilities that are widely dependent on the technological devices which improve the quality of the
facilities. In context to the case scenario, the master plan remains the implementation of wireless
network in the hospital. It is important to note that such technologies have already started to be
implemented as investment are done by the healthcare sector with a rate of 65% according to
survey conducted in UK. Cheshire house is reputed organisation of the health and social care
sector which has always been positive and has shown skills to undertake new changes in the
organisation to improve the quality of the services provided by it.
The master plan of the organisation remains the implementation of these wireless network in the
organisation which would support the improve quality of service to the care users and also
ensure that the devices help to monitor the performance of the employees and professionals
working in the organisation. As opined by Forsythe et al. (2016), the basic relationship that can
be established between master plan and project proposal is by understanding the goal of the
organisation and the resources available to execute the plan to achieve the target. It is important
to note that if the master plan is the objective and then the project proposal is the aspect which
suggests the best possible ways or procedure to achieve the target.

Examining the ways through which GERT overcomes the limitations of PERT/CPM
Programme Evaluation Review Technique and Critical Path Method are techniques which are
quite useful and support the management of a specific project in ensuring that there is not any
delay or backlogs in production or scheduling of the plan. These techniques are useful in
coordinating a range of jobs that needs to be accomplished by the executives in order to meet the
objective of the organisation (Harikrishnakumar, 2017). However, when it comes to evaluating
the performance and utility of these techniques in project management, the PERT technique
often fails to be effective in many aspects compared to GERT. The differentiation is explained
below in the following Table.

significant and useful in a variety of forms and in varied occasions. The Gantt chart and the
Network diagrams are some of these representations which are included to elaborate the time and
scheduling of the project activities. It is important to note that Network diagram are intensively
used by Project Managers in the contemporary business scenario.
Network Diagrams elaborates the Project Work-flow unlike Gantt chart which represents
schedules of the project.
Network Diagram specifically focuses on the sequential order of the activities. However, Gantt
chart focuses just on the tasks and time management.
The network diagram covers a major time frame in one go and provides an eagle eye view on the
progress of the project unlike Gantt chart which provides minute details which can be confusing
in complex system of work.

Contingency plan
Contingency plan is important for a project as it helps a business or a project to recover from any
type of unexpected events such as any type of abnormal loss, loss due to lack of management
and others. Based on the viewpoint of Ahimbisibwe et al. (2015), the risk in the project is
required to be assessed with the impact that directly associated with probability chart which are
prepared by the managers. A contingency plan includes scenario by which the plan is prepared
and after then it is required to be triggered that puts the contingency plan into action. Response
includes the brief overview of the strategy that has been acquired with the contingency plan.
Inspired from the viewpoint of Dong et al. (2016), it also includes key responsibilities which are
associated with each element of the plan that is required to be charged at every stage.
Budget
Budget is the total estimated amount which would be incurred in future course of business or
project. According to Chohan and Jacobs (2018), it is prepared after considering the past
expenses that has already been incurred in their normal business operation. The following table

Reserve is the amount of money that is required to be kept each years from total amount of profit
for maintaining the working capital. Dreassi et al. (2017) have stated that it is the amount that
provides support to an organisation during heir any kind of financial crisis. This particular
amount increases every year and after a certain level some portion of the reserve is included with
the current working capital.
