Asset Management Strategy for Crossrail Project in the UK_2

INTRODUCTION
Asset management strategy is described as “longer-term optimized method towards asset
management, originating from and compatible with organization's strategic plan as well as asset
management policies." To put it another way, asset management plan is a higher-level yet crucial
document that directs a group's asset management practices (Loosemore and Lim, 2018). The
study focuses on identifying core elements of a framework management scheme. In addition, the
report carries out assessment of the capacity of Crossrail project in United Kingdom.
MAIN BODY
Identification of a suitable structure:
Crossrail is railway network mostly in the central London that is currently under
development. The Elizabeth route will join two large rail tracks terminating in
the London, Great Western Main Route and the Great Eastern Base Line as well as
provide higher-frequency suburban bus service through London via west to the east. The project
received approval in year 2007, as well as work on central segment and links to current
infrastructure that would form part of path started in 2009.
The project's key attraction is the development of new underground railways line which will run
through near Paddington Stations to Stratford through central London as well as Liverpool Street
Stations. At the Whitechapel in the east London, virtually completely new line would branch
from main line. This will pass to the Canary Wharf, after which pass Thames to the Abbey Wood
in the south east London, where it would link with North Kent Line (Liu and McNeil, 2020).
In this project, newly nine-carrier Class 345 rails will operate at up-to 24 trains every hour
in every path in central portion. This will split into two divisions at either end of central key
services: west side to Reading as well as Heathrow Centrals; east to the Abbey Wood as well as
Shenfield. TfL Rails gained ownership of Heathrow Connection in the May 2018 as well
as Paddington to the Reading line in the December, 2019. Services on part of one of eastern
lines, between Liverpool Streets and Shenfield, have been moved towards TfL Rail since May
2015.
Asset survey (value) for estimating the current condition:
South East extension of Crossrail was suggested throughout 2003 and 2004 surveys to go further
than Abbey Wood, continuing along North Kent Track to the Ebbsfleet and making contact

with (then-under-constructions) Channel Tunnel Railway Line. The division was shortened at
the Abbey Wood subsequent to the introduction of Crossrail Hybrid Bills to Parliament in
year 2005 to reduce total project costs. Despite being dropped from main scheme, road was
covered from the development by Department of Transport further than Gravesend as well as
Hoo Junction. The estimated expense has increased to £18.25 billion from an original budget of
£14.8 billion. Crossrail appears to be late, with Tfl predicting that central portion would not be
completely operational before 2023 since about July 2020. Crossrail later stated that central
section will be completed in first half of year 2022. According to the most recent cost estimation
submitted to Board, cost of completing Crossrail project will be up-to around £1.1 billion higher
than funding plan negotiated in Dec. 2018 – £450 million higher than upper end of range
announced in Nov 2019. The expense figures are currently being worked out (Haynes,
Nunnington and Eccles, 2017).
Although Oyster paying when you go would not be allowed on western section around
West Drayton (the ends of TfL's Area 6) as well as Reading, just contactless cards would be
allowed there. Inside Greater London, railcards and renegotiation tokens will be available.
Journeys from or to the Heathrow Airport would be charged at premium equivalent to TfL Rail's
Heathrows service (previously Heathrow Connect), due to the extra expense of using rail tunnel
through airport and the Hayes & Harlington, however Heathrow would be featured in railcards
and routine fare cutting as Zone 6 station. The Crossrail would link to London Underground as
well as National Transit systems, and this will be listed on standard London Underground Graph.
South East extension of Crossrail was suggested throughout period 2003 and 2004 consultations
to go further than Abbey Wood, continuing along North Kent Railway to Ebbsfleet as well as
making contact with Channel Tunnels Rail Route. The division was shortened at the Abbey
Wood previous to the introduction of Crossrail Hybrid Legislation to Parliament throughout
2005 to reduce total project costs. Despite being dropped from main system, the road was
covered from growth by Department of Transport much further than Gravesend as well as
the Hoo Junction (Boyes, Ellul and Irwin, 2017).
Health and Safety:
Crossrail was accused of blacklisting during 2012. This was discovered which Ron
Barron, Bechtel industrial relations consultant, had regularly tested career candidates against the
Consultancy Associations database. Barron initiated the use of blacklist at former employer the
