STRUGGLING LAND FOR NEWCOMERS - CANADA1
In recent times, the Canadian experience for immigrants have been negative because
of various issues concerning the job market and the Canadian society as a whole. The
Canadian job market is highly internalized by the authoritative figures in various organization
which is making it difficult for the immigrants to find a reliable stepping stone in the
Canadian market. The immigrants are also suffering due to the various perils existent within
the society.
The basis of this problems lie both within and in the external environments of the
immigrants. The society in Canada tends to be highly resistant to multiculturalism. Although
there are strict laws about racism and problems related to the same, the society is skeptical
about the influx of immigrants. One might call this mechanism rather defensive than
offensive.
The job situation is similar. The companies in Canada do not reveal the positions open
to the world, the employers like to retain the very Canadian workforce they already have and
thus the job market is very easy for the residents of the country. But this makes it difficult for
the immigrants. There is a large influx of immigrants who struggle to get a job of their choice
although they are skilled accordingly ("Canada's IMMIGRANTS DIARY: Challenges Faced
By New Immigrants"). Canadian employers do not want immigrants. Immigrants are required
to be at par with Canadian soft skills which might be difficult to achieve, so they tend to start
from zero at work.
Most people end up with jobs that are not according to their level. Administrative
minds end up in physically taxing jobs and question if the immigration was of any use.
Taking in immigrants also demand a change in policies of the company which has to focus on
achieving the atmosphere suitable for multicultural employees to exist in. This will inevitably
