In this business plan, I have used the mixed method,
both primary and secondary data collection
techniques. In order to collect the data, I have used
positivism philosophy, descriptive design and
deductive approach. In order to collect the secondary
data, I have used existing journals, books, articles,
websites and Bangladesh government's reports. I have
used secondary data because these data are already
present and are valid. Secondary data can be obtained
rapidly and it provides insight into more formal
research. In order to collect the restaurant industry
information, secondary research provided me help. On
the other side, I have also conducted a survey to 100
Dhaka based people who are regular visitors to
restaurants in Dhaka. This survey provided me
insights on customers' mind and preferences directly. I
have made 10 close-ended questionnaires based on
preferences and prices of the restaurants' foods. The
collected data have been analysed through quantitative
analysis. The research methods were a questionnaire
for primary and thematic analysis of secondary data.

In this Major Project, I have utilised the various
literature sources from internet and I have accessed
these as pdf to read these all. I have taken help of
university library to access the sources. In addition, I
have utilised various theories and models of business
in this project to analyze the condition of restaurant
that is going to open in Dhaka. I have used SWOT
analysis that provided help in understanding the
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the
start-up. Moreover, I have used PEST analysis that
gave me a picture of the external environment of
restaurant and beverage industry in Dhaka,
Bangladesh. I have also used the Ansoff Matrix, in
order to recognise the market entry plan of the
restaurant as the restaurant needs to penetrate the
market to develop the market. In addition, in this
project, value chain model has also been described in

order to understand the process of receiving the raw
material and making of finished goods. VRIO model
has been described in this project to describe the
competitive advantage of the restaurant and resources.
Business canvas model has also been described to
provide the picture of strategic management.

I have gained the knowledge about Bangladesh
restaurant market and economy and I tried to think
from the audiences' perspectives while I was doing the
research. Secondly, I have gained the information
about competitors' role prior opening of business as
Bangladesh has a competitive market in the restaurant
industry. Thirdly, I mainly focused on the opportunity
for the business and apply the strategy on business
models. Fourth, making a budget for start-up was
never an easy task for me; however, I put attention on
overall details. Fifth, I also make the marketing plan

this was a fantastic experience for me to drafting the
promotional plans. Sixth, I reviewed the plan
thoroughly and made some changes to marketing,

These are important for me as these provided me the
experience to do the market research and drafting a
business plan. I ensured that all the key areas must

gained knowledge about leadership skills through
my course. In MBA programme, I have gained the
knowledge in research methods of business and
marketing, qualitative and quantitative analysis.

In this business plan, I had to identify a new
venture, I have thought about so many
aspects of business and I lastly picked the
environment friendly restaurant in Dhaka.
In order to conduct the research for the
business plan, firstly, I faced the issue of
time as marketing research is very much
time-consuming. I have applied the mixed
method to collect the data. Therefore, I had
to collect the data primary and secondary,
both types of data. Secondly, I faced the
issue of money as in accessing of credible
journals from the internet I had to pay
money for it. Therefore, I could not
download some of the economic reports of
Bangladesh government and restaurant
industry. Third, in undertaking the research,
gaining practical knowledge of consumers'
preferences was not easy; I had to so survey
for this. Conducting survey online had been
a barrier as I had to convince an online

In completing my major project, I faced the
issue of utilising the MBA materials as
there were so many subjects and topics to
follow in the business plan. I faced the
barrier of using the models of business as
there are so many and I needed to segregate
them as per my choice. Lastly, doing the
budget part was real challenge for me as I
had to balance the cash flow and making a
next three financial projection of the new

business. Strategic skill is an important skill for a
manager that can help the manager to flourish the
business in critical condition with strategic
planning. I have been focussed to complete the
Major Project and being focused on doing a
research or project is one such good quality of an

In the initial stage, I have identified four
objectives of Major Project and my aim
was to achieve these objectives after
completion of the project. In this regard, I
have conducted a secondary research on
industry analysis and market growth of
Bangladesh restaurant industry. The
secondary analysis was helpful to explore
the chances of success of new Chinese
restaurant at Dhaka. The concept of the
business was unique in the Major Project as
it was based on the Green Restaurant.
In order to gain knowledge about
Bangladeshi customers' preferences, I have
conducted an online survey to the
customers who regularly purchase food
items from the restaurant. The survey result

was helpful to lay out my business
strategies and making the ambience for the
new business. The customers of Bangladesh
like to visit the restaurant and this new
restaurant will be opened near Gulshan
area, famous for rich customers.
My objective was to provide a marketing
plan for the green restaurant. In this regard,
I provided 7Ps of marketing with
highlighting the offering, price, place and
promotional activities of the business.
Promotional activities of the business were
given social media, print media, events and
out-of-home advertisements. I had
knowledge of advertisements as I already
learnt this in my business communication
chapter and I utilised my ideas.
I have provided a financial projection of the
business start-up for next three years. This
part of the study was a challenge for me as
a financial projection of new start-up deals
with so many aspects and arranging money

are opening there. The business plan was packed
with strategies, marketing plans, business models,
ideas, financial projection, concepts of the new
venture and detailed market research. The market
research showed that Bangladeshi market is able to
flourish in the restaurant industry and a brief
description has been provided regarding the
developmental plan, marketing plan, human
resources recruitment plan as well as operational
plan regarding Green Chinese restaurant. Risk
assessment of the new business has also been
provided.
In a very short period of time, the restaurant will be
able to surpass its competitors and gain a good
competitive advantage in the market. The planning
of the restaurant is perfect and I have listened to the
preferences of the customers. The restaurant will
also follow the laws and regulations. The name the

policy and the ambience of rooftop and quality food
will attract the customers. Good food, ambience,
